In this video, I fit the radiator and slam panel to the car so that I can hopefully start her up next week with a bit of fuel.

Make sure you upgrade the mild steel coolant pipe which runs next to the pulleys with a stainless steel pipe, they always rot and fail being soo close to the wheel. I've been looking forward in this project they are my favourite cars.

Thanks for the tip. I noticed that the other pipe I had was rotten. This was quite solid but I’ll get a new stainless for the 1.9.

Great video Luke, but if your selling it to move on, I'd of tidied up a little just to show you'd cared about it.

If you keep taking small bites, you'll finish it in no time 👍🏻 Handy to have all those spares from the other car you can use.

You need to remove those metal mounts at the bottom as that cowl's from a Non GTI model, top clips use a spring to hold the top in,

I'd go as far to say that the car was a semi-resto at some point as it's really clean and not rusty like I'd expect it to be. I'm fairly sure the 1.6 didn't have the oil cooler though chap.

@@macca4610 that’s really odd, I had 3 1.6 without them and 2 1.9 that did - I always thought that was the initial way to check which engine was which. I guess some must have had one for whatever reason 🤷‍♂️
