The more I see these videos the more I want a Classic. I went to buy one last year but they didn’t have the model I wanted so the salesman talked me into getting a Meteor. I went back to trade it in for a Classic this year and the salesman talked me into an Interceptor. It was almost 2k off ticket price so I don’t feel bad, but I really did want the Classic. I need to be more firm in my resolve.

I've got both, love the classic but like that little bit of power in the interceptor, if they put the 650 engine in the classic chassis then I'd be back to one bike.........but would it still be a classic?, 2 cylinders 😮, agree completely with Bruce about the comfort of the classic, its excellent

@@matthewloewenthal5114 I’ll probably pick up a classic next year, though I plan to keep both. Then I’ll have to decide which to ride to Alaska, 10,000 miles round trip. Trundling along for that many miles at 50-60 mph on a 20hp machine has a certain appeal.

I got a 5 gallon drum for the Jeep gearbox/transfer box and axles so seems an ideal cheap way to do it, certainly a lot cleaner, and good idea using Paraffin which I buy anyway for some old lamps we hang in garden when sitting out 👍😁

Hi Christopher yeah first time I tried removing the tank I got cramp in my hand trying to squeeze the two sides of the fitting! I think it gets easier once it’s been removed and installed a few times, some things on the bike are not easy to do with big hands! Where would the world be without cable ties? 😁 prob still be using garden wire! 🤣

I have a meteor with decat exhaust system, dna filter and intake along with the fuel x pro. I find the bike is just smoother throughout the range. I no longer need to change down a gear or two when i drop revs as the bike will still pull, previously it would chug trying the same thing in standard form. Ive had my bike a year now and even though i own more powerful and expensive bikes i find myself jumping on the RE for all but motorway journeys. In fact, its been such an eye opener in terms of just taking a breath and slowing down that I'm considering a classic 350 too. I had one for 24 hours while my bike was in for a service, familiar but different. Im tempted to buy the signals or perhaps the stealth black and mod the bike the same as the meteor but with the addition of the performance cam. I think id struggle to want to ride anything else with a little bit (just a tad) more ooomph. Ive had a 650, enjoyed it too but the single is an addictive engine no matter what chassis it comes in.

Hi redpat2005 they are really lovely engines! The mods as you say really are noticeable 👍 I would like to go touring on a Meteor as after doing the NC500 i was not sore on my Classic but I bet the Meteor would be even comfier with the more forward pegs? Would love a go of an engine with that cam fitted!, I’m off to Skye this weekend on the Classic to visit friends and cannot wait! Approx 240 miles each way and I know i won’t have a backside like a baboon afterwards! 🤣😁👍👍👍 Cheers Bruce

Always inspired by, and my go-to instructions from Bruces' videos, I am a DIY enthusiast (with limited wrenching skills and experience). I ordered the FuelX from Hitchcock's. Now, there's an additional wire with a metal loop on the harness. I did not see a reference to this component in this video. I checked on their website with instructions to secure this to the negative battery terminal. I wondered if this is a more recent addition to the X Lite, with no reference of this by other motorcycle wrenchers?

Good video! After all do you think this is worth it? Never took the tank off, any tips? When you disconnect the fuel line how to prevent fuel leak??? How do you prevent that??? Tks
@Coastriderscotland
@Coastriderscotland 11 ай бұрын
Hi the fuel does not leak from the fuel pipe as it is a spring seal that closes when you squeeze and separate the connector, just a couple of drops will come out that’s all Remove the back bolt then raise the back of the tank a few inches with a block of wood or similar to allow you to access the fuel pipe connector, it’s quite tight to get large hands in to squeeze the connector but it’s doable yourself, the fuel x is keeping the mixture rich enough so if changing exhaust or air filter type it will re adjust the mixture to suit 👍😁 Cheers Bruce

So, I fitted the DNA air filter a few weeks ago. Should I get a fuel X fitted then? Will the air filter mean my engine will run too lean and damage my bike My bikes really new. Insure your bike will run ok without the Fuel X Jez, I just fitted it for piece of mind that it will run as best a mixture as it can, I just gave it a quick wash while it ran to let the engine calibrate, I have the pannier contents in waterproof bags as they leak anyway being India eBay copies 😁 Cheers Bruce

Fitted on just over a year ago. Felt a little better on throttle response I thought. It packed up after a year and bunged up the O2 sensor with a lot of gunk. It was running way to rich. took it off and tbh there was no difference whatsoever. Actually bike seems to breath better at top end now. I’m really not at all convinced. These engines need a lot of running in. mine was really tight to over 2000 miles and it’s gets better all the time after that. I have 14000 miles on the old girl now. I wouldn’t waste your money on these units

Hey mate. Good to see the proper hard use yours gets. I had knobblies on mine too. Bloody thing will go anywhere on them but felt a bit wobbly. gotta try something new. Whats weird about he fuel X is that it did seem to cure the occasional stall pulling away. Bit now removed the bike runs perfectly at low revs. Keep the vids coming have enjoyed them alot.
@puneet338jld
@puneet338jld Жыл бұрын
I can also vouch to that Matthew. I had the decat pipe, DNA intake and filter, Freeflow exhaust and FuelX lite on mine since completing 1200kms. Now after completing almost 5k kilometres, I have restored my bike to completely stock. And to my astonishment, its actually running better than it used to run with all the mods. It feels happier, can hit top end easily and I struggle to find why I installed all these mods in the first place. I think we hear all the mod talk from people and start thinking about modding them from the moment we buy them. ANd a lot of changes are just placebo effect with our mind tricking us into thinking that its running faster or better. Would keep it stock from now on and continue enjoying it the way it was tuned from factory, which I think is the best.
