Another brilliant Vid Rich. I remember in one of your earlier renovations Matt was plastering and wasn’t really keen on being in shot but he has now really grown into the role and enjoying life.

I foam adhesive some 12mm (or to suit) insulated tile backer board in the reveals, seal with SBR and plaster as normal. Reduces cold bridging in older reveals where space is tight and blockwork is returned to outer skin or single skin as here. Thorough as ever fellas.👍

I did a large suspended ceiling using those direct hangers and 3x2's, absolutely bombproof. You can buy ones with 2 lugs on either side when folded which give 2 extra fixing points.

Good job as normal, It's also good practice if stud lands near the wall use track then you get a rattle in the wall. When we do it set laser for Finnish cut off then fix

Just a heads up, you've broken the barrier when fixing the brackets, you should have used a rubber grommet plug especially designed for this system 😊 love your videos tho guys just a heads up

I had to do this in a tanked cellar, ensuite. I ended up doubling the uprights to 300mm centres and also ran a horizontal one behind ( kind of like a noggin ). I doubled them up as the customer decided to tip the exisitng board off himself. Not to gently.

Did I miss something, isnt the wall un-insulated in the zone of the metal stud? Understand there is insulated board over the top but looks like a load of gaps?

Nice work however in my experience you shouldn’t drill through a tanking or put some resin into the hole you’ve drilled?

Another amazing video lads. Would you think this would work better than woodfibre insulation with lime plaster? I am torn between both of these options ? both have pros and cons. I can only afford to do the job once and im concerned with the due point issue with non breathable materials on a solid wall with no dpm? Any feedback would be great as i trust you boys as i know you strive for excellence.
@Mr_A_Builders
@Mr_A_Builders 10 ай бұрын
All I would say is for you do what you feel most comfortable with but I’ve never used wood fibre insulation and lime plaster. I’d be torn between which one gives me the best thermal results and how far it’s all going to stick out into the room once completed. 👍🏻

Well done lads,a great job as usual!!!! One question for us "non builders"!! What is a warm deck?My wife said that she would love to find out!!!!! Chers
@Mr_A_Builders
@Mr_A_Builders 10 ай бұрын
It was ‘warm deck’ I mentioned which is where you put the insulation on top of the roof structure and then waterproof membrane on top of that instead of insulation in between the roof joists. 👍🏻

Hi Rich, I no Gypliner is great for straightening out old walls, but in the case of a tanked wall wouldn't a MF C Stud wall be better as you would not have needed to pierce the tanking ? Also what exactly was the purpose of the 50mm gap behind the insulation was it to give it more thermal insulation ?
@Mr_A_Builders
@Mr_A_Builders 10 ай бұрын
Hi ya mate. MF stud would have come out too much and I would have had to move the fire door over to accommodate it as they wanted a 2’9” door. The air gap is just to keep it away from the wall and allow for any moisture to dissipate within the void. With regards piercing the tanking it’s only a screw hole and as you would have seen it was then filled with a plastic plug so it’ll have little to no impact at all. I reckon there’s only 10% of the fixings used that will be in the affected areas caused by next doors driveway. Thanks for watching have a good week 👍🏻

Excuse my ignorance. What is the benefit of gyplyner over wooden battens? I'm considering to use the insulated plasterboards (not really convinced the dab and dot would be the way forward... Thanks in advance.
@Mr_A_Builders
@Mr_A_Builders 10 ай бұрын
I wouldn’t recommend dot and dab on a solid wall it’s not good practice because the dab will draw the damp through the wall. You can use battens on the wall with dpm behind them to stop the damp pulling through but if your wall is not flat and perfectly plumb you’ll spend more time trying to level it out. Gyplyner is a cost effective and quick process. I’ve tried all ways to get over this issue and I don’t think this way can be beaten. As we always say on the channel it’s not the only way it’s just the way we like to do it. 👍🏻

that tanking looks very much like torch-on roofing felt - how did he get it to stick to a damp wall?
