Fun Fact: Beasty shittalked on his stream how bad aom players are because they "only used to using the auto queue for villagers" for the next 10-15mins a big discussion in his stream chat about the auto queue. I still dont get it, why they think its a fun way using ur apm or skill by spamming 2 hotkeys instead of macro ur economy and micro ur units instead AND its a lot better for newer players. There is so much in this game that i want to see the skill difference in acutal decisions, micro and macro and not about such mechanical spamming... Anyway, ty for the cast (even tho i hate greek players with a passion)

Yep. Streamers/sweatlords today think RTS = APM. It's really silly. Especially since it's just the one thing that's autoqueued yet he acts like the entire game is automated because of it. He's really annoying when he talks about it.

I was always told “Tyr” was pronounced ‘Tyew’, as in “Tuesday”, and there was a Faroese band of that name that I saw pronouncing it much like that. Faroese I’d assume is very similar to Icelandic, which I gather is the closest language to Old Norse still spoken today. So make of that what you will. The band member did seem very resigned to foreign listeners pronouncing it ‘Tier’ though, so it’s basically an accepted variation.

I'm rather curious to see how things shake up over time, but without brace won't most games turn into cav vs cav due to movespeed? (I haven't played AoM since extended edition came out and even then it was just the campaign).

I'm trying to lean into walling a bit more, both with buildings and small wall segments. A lot different from AoE4, but think it helps with the cav run around.

@@FitzBro That's a fair point. I'm just hoping games don't turn into cav only fests -- but the patch coming might address that too depending on what besides bug fixes it may contain that indirectly changes stuff so who knows?

@@Sarnith itll most likely end up being cav/archers most games. if AOE2 is anything to go by, Batus playstyle was pretty classic AOE2 stuff lots of mobility abuse to raid while developing eco. the difference being frost giants for siege rather than onagers/trebs/bombard cannons. that being said I feel like hero powers and unique upgrades might shake it up enough as I believe(still new to AOM) you can get a bunch of infantry speed upgrades as greeks? or maybe that was just minotaur speed.

@@stiggyla I'm hoping that's the case to regarding the unique upgrades. I myself prefer infantry styles into the stronghold tier 3 units to cav, though I certainly see the value and utility in speed. Though thanks to discovering this channel I'm happily getting to watch some great casts to learn more.

How do you qualify for the red bull event?

This weekend there is a qualifier event (which could somewhat be seen as the main event though). You just need to register on the red bull homepage. There are 500+ places avaliable so getting in should be no problem. Seeding is via 1v1 ladder (except for 4 top players, who get seeded already). The 2 winning players of this event will then play their final in person at the big red bull event.

Beasty isn't using manual vill queuing because he wants to keep up muscle memory. He's doing it because he believes very strongly that having auto queued vills is taking everything out of RTS. He's a bit elitist and dramatic about it and acts like the entire game is automated if you use it. It's quite a bit irrational and irritating to listen to.

Plus, reworked favor and myth abilities, balance changes, main gods bonuses reworked, new techs, norse have a new military building, atlanteans have a new way for getting favor, etc. There are more changes than what you might expect
