Not only that but Leto tech is meant to fight archer, which Norse have little. And spider lair god power don't work on heroes too. In total, Leto seem for fight against Greek or Atlantean that have high units cost, strong archer and few heroes.

@@goochipoochie Egyptian can mass priest but priest alone is weak and only strong against myth units and would need units to help. Atlantean can turn all units to heroes but it's expensive (with more risky to gain favor), so on early game, most units are likely to stay human. As for Greek, mass myth units against Atlantean isn't easy as units could turn to heroes and fight it. Best way to fight Atlantean heroes is counter units which can get sniped by spider lair.

@@sailingintosunshine they are, like the god power, purely defensive. Low cost, fast build time. Spawn half a dozen when your base is attacked, spawn 2 more after the attack is over to rebuild them. They are very good, when used in a place you can hold.

@@sadaurkar I just checked it out in editor to make sure, it does deal bonus damage, try it out for yourself one hersir vs one arcus and you get the same result: Without bonuses the arcus deals 5 damage -15% of hersir pierce armour, that's 4.25 damage dealt, rounded down visually it would have 126 health left. But it has a 1.5 multiplier, meaning it deals 6.25 and it gets a 0.97 ish reduction after armour to 5.28 damage total. After two shots that hersir has visually taken 11 damage, but that is just the game rounding 10.56 up. priests, pharoe and greek heroes don't get that extra damage however and just get dealt 5 damage before (resistances) Edit: Fun fact after looking at tags right now, the oracle has only the hero tag when heroized. Early on it could probably be a cheap answer to early axe throwers as it is cheapish at 100 resources total. For those occations when just turma don't work.

Spiders needs a big buff, like more eggs or something Automatons too, but not making them op because they can become toxic, if your defense holds then you can rebuild freely your entiere army and then counterattack

That is their entire point. Have a dozen automatons as defense. keep 2 in the back. When the attack is over, use your leftover automatons to rebuild your defensive army. Never use them to attack a position you are not 100% sure you'll take and keep.

I don't get why there wasn't cheriobalista at the start there, there is no other hero unit other than the infantry hersir in classical for norse. It's not like he saw it comming even blind and he wasn't blind he scouted it several times. I get that he wants to get arcus because most people like them better, but he wont have a ball of them big enough to stop the push at age 3 like what happened.

I think the only fix to make Automatons viable is if they don't count as myth units Or if they benefit from infantry upgrades while still counting as myth units I see no point of ever spamming them when you can just spam heroes as Atlanteans for much better returns (basically unkillablw by any myth unit, better stats, still counter other humans as well)

Berserks at the start of the game do sub 1 dps. Every military unit that can be trained in Archaic has around a 90% damage nerf in Archaic. Notably, this means you need to be VERY careful when testing against myth units with heroes that can be trained in archaic, the hero player NEEDS to be in Classical minimum or most myth units WILL body a hero.

Reia is fine because it does make your arcus much more tankier on top of the leto upgrade, and it's the logical unit to get when your eco is focused on wood and gold, but I don't think it's the right call vs norse. Getting theia give you birds that can't get shot down by hersir, as well as improving your contarius which will be more effective vs norse than behemoths and mass arcus that will inevitably get countered by huskarls.

Honestly the only civ that Leto might have some modicum of success against would be the greeks due to their hero quantity, Otherwise you get rolled. The healing is more useful and less expensive than mass automatons. You'd most likely be dead against any player worth their salt by heroic age roughly 10 mins.

Automaton + Dryad is a hilarious combo. Not sure it works against Norse though. Need max oracles, 2 temples and an excess of villagers to pull it off/compare to a normal army

@@Quarles69 The buffs seem so minor though. -10% on eco techs, cheaper eco mills (which are great if people are actually using channels, which they seem to forget to research), a bit more wood at start, theia's bugged. Except for theia, those all seem real incremental, that was all it took to take her from last to first? Did I miss any?

@@DuizhangLu you missed the extra area for the lush but yeah sometimes it's just incremental changes that push something into the meta. I don't think there's really much to figure out with Gaia, everyone's still going the same god order as before. The biggest differences seems to be what eco techs people pick up in the first age and what god to pick in 4th age.

How did i even end up here? Im a dying starcraft 2 player (Mid-low grandmaster NA 4900-5300 usually) and was watching a ByuN video. I can generally understand whats going on, but overall not to sure.

That has to be one of the most stupid top players game ive ever seen in any RTS. The guy is massing an army that completely counters automatons and his reaction was to go more automatons. Im no pro or top player by any means but even i wouldnt have been dumb enough to do that.

Bee is a pro rts player, but I think he's new to AoM. He can beat players because he has rts experience, but he struggles when he gets higher on the leaderboard because he's not familiar with the details yet.

@Synysterenji lol getting by mechanically is more than enough to get to the top of the leaderboard. There's a reason the pros always do well in every rts. The foundation is there and already makes them better than most players... because most players suck. Learning the game specifics is secondary and will just solidify their position. It makes perfect sense because the same thing happens in every game.

@@kria008 It´s divine vs myth units like automatons are. And they have 55% pierce armor, not 80. Trust me they dont stand a chance vs mass priest. Half of them are dead by the time they get in range to attack.

He is playing them completely wrong.. They build faster now. You want to do a Timing Push with them. Dont get scouted and build them From 2 Tempels, then Go in quickly with 10-15 with constsnt reinforcemnts and quickly overwhelm them and have autorepair

Not really, they are very cheap, so you can use them on cooldown. Especially on longer team games, they are great at fortifying a single position, like a place you'll use for titan/wonder or trade route.
