Scarabs require more investment to be up to par with behemoths (and they still stay behind in damage vs buildings, but are much better against other myth units) and the lifesteal they get measures up more or less evenly with the behemoths 50% damage reduction and 3 regeneration. Specially when you consider that Behemoths just regen continuously while scarabs need to fight units for that benefit, which they aren't great against. Having a lower initial investment makes behemoths probably just the better unit of the two, but not by much.

Scarabs don't need to have the upgrade to be better, they have way more HP to make up for no directional armour/less hack armour and instead of having a multiplier against buildings they have high crush damage that makes them actually able to damage myth units.

Everhbody is hating on behemoth. But behemoth just regenerates. They're great for sieging buildings and tanking damage. Shalko just didn't use them properly.

Behemoths are amazing at destroying buildings. If the enemy doesnt have heroes they can also soak up tons of damage. If you pick Hekate at age 4 as Gaia and get mythic rejuvenation it makes behemoths almost invincible since it stacks with the regen behemoths already have. Plus with celerity it lets them move and attack faster.
