Something we used to do in old school tool and die trim line was prick punch the layout line and essentially split the line when machining to that line. It makes a nice reference and would be covered up by the weld.

Love the improvised tools. After seeing one of your previous videos I found an old disposable CO2 welding gas bottle in my garage and cut the end off - now I have a 'cup' to stretch metal into and a round dolly for shaping.

I watched Carter Auto Restyling videos on mig welding sheet metal and he likes to weld about an inch and then immediately grind the weld ... then another inch and so on ... says it tempers the metal less and is easier to grind and you don't have all that grinding when your done welding ... I tried it and it works pretty good ... like your videos ... seem more like one of us ...

I have to admit it surprised me to see you didn’t hammer form a panel and fit it over top of the existing piece and cut+butt it, I did this on the rounded cab corner o my 64’ dodge truck, made it in a couple pieces as per your videos worked amazing! But definitely see your wisdom on recycling when the piece is still usable I wish I would have been more tender with my passenger floor pan

That was a massive job, it must have taken you a few days to do it and then fit it into a 95 minute video. It took me three days to watch the video! You sure detailed the repair very well and turned a complete mess into a nice panel. Whoever welded that car previously didn't do too good of a job, but you fixed it. Looks like this car is a multi-year project, with all the work that needs doing on it.

Every time I see you do a series of tack welds like that, I ask myself the question: "How in the heck did we ever manage without wire feed welders?" I first used one about 20 years ago. A cheapie from Home Depot that ran on 110V. After the first 10 seconds, I was hooked! What a great tool! And, of course, you make it look easy, but I knw darn well that it's anything but. Just totally enjoying watching your approach to these different challenges. Carry on!

Hi Fitzee, great tip from Wray Schelin "Proshape" - To get panel started in the English Wheel; push it in at 45 degrees so it slips in at the shoulder of the anvil. 😀
