Hi there, I would just like to take the time to say a VERY BIG THANK YOU. I had this exact issue in my petrol Kia Sportage and you sir have enabled me to sort it myself. I did some motorway driving earlier today and the warning light went out - I'm overjoyed 😊. Thanks so much, I'm so grateful and if I hear of anyone with a similar problem I'll be sure to direct them to your channel. Many thanks again, Ewan.

@doolanbrian Жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching and for the kind words, 🙂👍it’s a lot of work in the automatic for most people, I think the way you have to look at it is try and get a car on the motorway at for 20 or 30 minutes every two or three weeks and it will avoid the gasoline particular filter clogging. So it’s preventive maintenance would be the best way to avoid the issue in the first place, but at least if it does happen, there is a way to work around it rather than having to wait to get into the workshop.🙂

Excellent question, in my opinion, it needs the continuous run as there are various thresholds that need to be satisfied before it completes, although it is possible that there might be some partial amount of carbon burnt out on your first run👍

I don’t have 30mins and a spare £7 in fuel every time the car produces this fault, after all it is not my driving style that decides to change gear at low revs, coast (called Sailing) at times, and stop the engine in stationary traffic - that would be the car. Having tried the reset method and it didn’t work , the first time the light came on, my dealer revved it at standstill until the headers and turbo glowed cherry red. Nice for an engine with 700 miles on the clock. How long will that engine last? Not very ‘green’ is it? And will I also get compensation for all the pointless journeys I am doing when I blow my annual lease mileage? Last Hyundai I will buy.

Unfortunately, the modern engines are subject to different criterias for emissions, compared with the Peugeot you had, the more they try to reduce the emissions from the engine, the more complex they get, . The method by which carbon is trapped and burned even on the older model Tucson is less stringent than it is on the more modern ones, so the new ones actually need more motorway driving than the old ones👍

@ I have less experience on this engine, but when cars are at a garage, they can end up doing some very short movements around the Forecourt, and before you take delivery, sometimes the seats might be washed, and the vehicle will be left idling for an extended period with the heater running to dry it out, so the car builds up carbon without getting a chance to clear it. So it’s possible it just needs to be cleared out like you have done. So it’s possible, you probably won’t see it again for quite some time unless the car doesn’t get a chance to clear itself out, see how you get on over the next 1 to 2 months👍

@ light is constant . Driven approximately 140 miles on the motorway . Did have it in eco mode , speed at 70 mph for periods . Have it on sport mode now and drive approx 8 miles or so . Hyundai Tucson petrol 2022 model . Thanks for your reply

@ unfortunately, we don’t have any experience of that non hybrid engine in Ireland, but it really should be clearing if you are staying at a constant speed.. maybe you’re already aware, but you literally have to stay at those exact engine revolutions for a good 15 to 20 minutes without changing gears or stopping does that make sense?

@ Thankyou , I’ll keep trying 🙂

@ I hope it works but also call the dealer for advice , look in your manual under exhaust system for exact instructions in clearing it

30 mins is ridiculous these filters are a load of shite
@doolanbrian10 ай бұрын
They recommend 30 minutes, from what I have found so far it is around 10 minutes to 15 minutes to clear them .. for sure it is not ideal, they are trying to figure a balance between power and reducing emissions, which seems to not be too straightforward with European regulations

@doolanbrian little update ...Its just took nearly a 40 minute drive to clear the GPF light in my kia sportage it's frustrating if I've got to do that every time the light comes on petrol isn't the cheapest these days.
