"If they fail you hopefully you'll still be able to love them the same" *plot murder scheme*
@Masterfully14 жыл бұрын
This is a trick I learned back in CK2. When trying to assassinate someone in another court, you may run into the issue of there not being enough people willing to help you with the plot. The way to circumvent this is by marrying females with high intrigue into the opposite court. The reason I say females instead of males, is that by seducing them you will maintain a very high relationship with them that makes them more willing to murder for you. This can be combined with careful education and selective breeding to essentially create something akin to geisha assassin caste that are sent into rival courts who will kill for you. If you just need to kill the enemy ruler and are not marrying into them for reasons of heirs, marrying your lover to the ruler directly can be great. Their new high intrigue wife will probably be made their spymaster - who is really loyal to you and pretty much guarantees a successful assassination.

Another nice trick: If you face a strong empire that is of a different religion of yours, there is a rather easy trick how to deal with them. There are two conditions that have to be met for this trick to work: The enemy empire has to be of a different religion (that considers your religion as evil), and you need the kidnapping perk. Kidnap the ruler of that foreign empire and release them under the condition that they switch to your faith. I haven't met a ruler yet that didn't agree to that (outside of the pope). As you have forced that ruler to a religion that all of his vassels consider evil, they will all imidiatly start indipendence factions, and you can watch how the empire falls apart. I had only one time that this didn't work, and that was because a murder sheme killed the ruler before his subjects could rebell.

Whenever I want someone for my council, like a new Steward for example, I always just pick someone in my court (preferably someone with half-decent stewardship) to marry someone outside of court with the highest stewardship available. That way you always have 16+ skill on every single council member. If you want to improve their skill further, make the new guy you just recruited a vassal by giving him a small piece of land somewhere. Other tips. Having good wife with high learning helps you gain lifestyle exp ( i usually got 300 free exp) and also makes your children get good lifestyle traits (4 stars) If you romance someone and you have high intrigue or taking intrigue lifestyle, there's chance an event that will give extra lifestyle perks. So grind prestige through romance you might get intrigue perk. Typical your first character type is conqueror or acquirer of lands. By the end on his reign, you end with a kingdom with different culture and religion. I usually imprison all my vassals and strip them in all titles. Then the successor will be the one to appoint vassal. Assign vassal with same religion and culture. Those vassal will do the rest. About also appointing vassal. Most of dukes have martial lifestyle. Their holdings usually have barracks or military type building. Try to hire steward leaders they give coin and development related buildings. I dont know if this accurate but just on my observations. Matrinilleal marriage. If your king you want to send off your daughter, chances only counts will accept this kind of marriages. In this case i find a kingdom, try to marry my daughter to their last son. Then murder their all sons and spare the youngest. Boom their son will inherit the kingdom or dukedom. More renown

You can wage war with only your men-at-arms if you set a rally point and raise local troops and split off all men-at-arms and knights and start marching immediately without waiting. You can also disband men-at-arms at anytime when they are in friendly territory so you can send them flying to the other side of your empire to deal with an other enemy stack. Very useful when dealing with religious rebellions that spawn lots of smaller stacks around your empire or you are just dealing with weaker nations.

As I said before, having communion and monasteism tenets let you skip the last tip if your heirs are unlanded. Just excommunicated them and imprison them, then make them take the vows. It won't be tyrannical and you only loose 250 piety, if you have a big piety gain tenet like human sacrifices or something you can do this all the time. Just be mindful of not doing it too soon, making all your sons monks might screw up the succession if they die or your main heir dies, so make sure your daughters and sons before monking them have sons of their own. Do you have one that covers getting favorable marriages especially in regards to non-heirs? With culture/religion playing such a big part its something that's hard for me to wrap my head around. I usually am trying to do 2 things. 1) Find matrilineal marriages that will lead to better renown in the dynasty. No idea really how to find good ones so I look for the highest ranked implicit or pressed claim that isn't in my realm. 2) Find characters with a t3 trait. My problem is sometimes there isn't a good one to choose from. Maybe abducting -> converting + recruiting would be a solid method? Not sure but then I would need to go down the intrigue tree on every character iirc. 3) Getting my sons to go strike out on their own so I can later vassalize them as I move across the map. Another interesting one would be how to press your religion like crazy. Is imprisonment + conversion the only thing you can really do to enemy rulers. Sometimes I can get them to give me their heir as ward under conversion but that seems rare.
@castlebravo20234 жыл бұрын
Getting sons to strike out alone is really strong. I hit my second lineage perk in less then 100 years thanks to confederate partition. Conqured 5 tribal dutchies with my founding member. when he died 5 members of my dynasty became dukes and my renown income exploded. The search function is bad at finding potential heirs to marry. What you have to do is find an old foreign king. His firstborn son is already an adult, and probably has a young son himself. Marry your daughter to that kid (the king's grandson) in a matrilineal marriage. He's de facto 2nd in line for the crown, but the game treats him like a peasant so the marriage will be accepted. In 50ish years your own grandson and dynasty member will be on the throne. This only works for male preference inherited kingdoms (with no elections, since electors hate foreigners)

I have a trick of my own I matrilineal marry off my daughters (desirable match dynasty legacy helps a lot) to, usually, the second son of the targeting country, once accepted I scheme to murder the heir. When he is dead and your daughter's husband in the line of succession, their children are your dynasty, and when they get to the throne you can claim the title and grab everything they possess. If you manage to arrange a matrilineal marriage to a primary heir even easier also look out to the primary heir oldest male child (or female just to be eligible to become the heir) and marry them instead. Even if you aren't able to claim the title now you have powerful allies that you can call as house members to your wars that cost no prestige, no matter defensive or offensive even when they become a cadet branch you can still call them for the price of 75 renown.

I've been kidnapping Kings and releasing them if they switch to my religion. OK, only 2 so far, just started trying this. That unlocks a decision to "Become Celibate", and then later "Abandon Celibacy" too. Heads up though, you can't have the "Reveler" traits, and you can't have the "Seducer" trait if you want to embrace celibacy.

The first one as described would not really be ALTERING the deal.... It's more like eliminating the truce... Later on in the game YOU can get a perk that lets you add claim to a war already being fought.. this is about as close to "altering a deal" you can get.. also.. If you give someone a Kingdom near your own you can increase their opinion of you then USURP the title you just gave them... This is repeatable as long as you have enough prestige to remake the title your userping..

I can't wait to make a very annoying vessel an army commander with a death sentence so he'll quit making factions against me :)

That requires Absolute Crown Authority, which requires quite a few later era innovations too! Unless I'm missing something?
