"So much for escapism", wait till you get hit by the "Taxes" campaign event. I do love how this game builds random events into some form of narrative. Last game the Sector Government paid the crew 9 credits for a job, I was already planning the upgrades and shopping but then immediately I rolled Taxes and they took more than half of it back!!! I bet they were planning that all along.

The way the combat works reminds me a lot about X-Com. Never be without cover. Check if it's worth moving to take a shot before you commit making the move (don't enter within enemy reach or an easily flanked position, don't try shots with almost no chance of hitting), just because you can move in close that doesn't mean you want to do that; let the enemies walk into your longer range weapons and if possible, don't engage in combat with all of them at once. Amazing to see your energetic play Trevor. Thank you!
@DragonBoi37892 жыл бұрын
Considering just how easy it is for characters to bite it in this game, I think the real fun is playing to find out which of these characters survives long enough to see their personal motivation fulfilled. At that point the dice will have decided that they were the true protagonist of the story all along.

To remember using story points - what I do is I put “Bennies” of the amount of story points I have left on the table, like I do in Savage Worlds
@NTLBagpuss2 жыл бұрын
28:59 - As well as the Story Points you forgot that Captain's have a Luck point. Not that it mattered but characters with Luck also don't die if they roll badly on the injury table they just lose the Luck point. So hopefully your Captain will be more able to keep the narrative going if you remember these rules.... and the Story Points!!! Also Tactical enemies move generally half speed (only full if they have to cross open ground) so they shouldn't have overwhelmed they others as quickly, not sure that would have made a huge difference with the cursed rolls you were getting.

Just finished the episode. I’m fine with the lack of “narrative” here because the gameplay itself is the narrative. Your team got trounced hard and I don’t think that corp will be too happy about that. Can’t wait for more!

Lmao the sentiment shared at 29:02 is so true. Nothing like rolling up a party for 5parsecs (or 5 leagues) getting very invested in character stories during character creation and then one of your guys who is integral to the story gets cut down in one of your first outings. Honestly though I enjoy the perma death it adds stakes. And you didn't do anything wrong sometimes the odds aren't in your favor and you will get your ass handed to you. That's why it's always an option to cut and run. Screw the patron and their paltry sum of credits.

What a brutal game, mostly due to bad dice rolls for your crew, but 1 key factor that may have changed the whole game, you said the enemy used the tactical AI, I think they got to your crew a lot faster then they should have, granted open ground rule is possible, but your map was a pretty confined area. Having said that, like everyone who plays this great game (me included) we get caught up in the game and forget things during the course of the game.......great report, great enthusiasm and I look forward to the rest of your campaign!! Oh and the purifier is actually a good deal, it either pays the interest on your ship or offsets your crew upkeep every tun

Does your captain still have his luck point from character creation? Because If a character with Luck would be removed as a casualty, they lose 1 point of Luck instead.
@MeMyselfandDieRPG2 жыл бұрын
Right! I forgot about that.
@dougsundseth69042 жыл бұрын
In fact, while you use your luck (move 1d6" in a random direction and don't get hit), your luck does not decrease unless you use all your luck and still die in the injury phase. In that case, you lose all your luck but you're still alive. Which means you can use each luck point once per game. It's absolutely worth waiting until you have 10XP so you can buy luck for your characters for whom it's allowed. A human with 3 luck is a scary thing to fight.
