I propose an alternate-history idea: revolving around the globalist "free trade" and anti-globalist grassroots movement of 1999-2001. The International Monetary Fund and World Trade Organization have called on the United States to enforce wealth-extraction from poor countries of the Global South. The United States convinces its military its fighting for freedom and democracy. The player goes to Latin/South America/Africa/Southeast Asia/Indonesia and discovers the people are fighting for public-ownership and popular rule of their own wealth and utilities against the wealthiest financial institutions that would claim title to everything, and have made _YOU_ do their dirty work. Do you (a) support international corporate capitalist oligarchy or (b) social democracy and justice?

@@marckrieger3277 the "all vehicles for all factions" thing in BF1 is only the case for tanks, and only because WW1 tanks differed drastically (and were pretty much all designed by the allies, except the A7V), this wouldn't be the case in BF Cold War. I think DICE did an alright job of having wide representation in BF1 for the infantry skins and voices, and a passable job on the aircraft and the light transport vehicles most eastern bloc countries would have very similar if not identical vehicles in BF Cold War (because thats just how it was), and there would be a decent amount of overlap in NATO vehicles too..
@Luey_Luey3 жыл бұрын
@@marckrieger3277 check out the BF wiki for the full vehicle list my guy there's shared aircraft between some factions but the only plane that is the exact same for all factions is the Ilya muromets (because it presumably didn't have any counterpart for any of the other armies of the game)
@Luey_Luey3 жыл бұрын
@@marckrieger3277 yea that's what I was saying and the reason for the tanks being the same is probably for gameplay reasons: it might be too unbalanced if the germans get the A7V and the US only gets the FT17, or if the British get the Mark V and the ottomans get nothing. In a cold war setting, just as they did in the modern BF games, they can have one single version of the tank (stats-wise), which would differ only in appearance, and allow for each faction to have unique tank models (at least for nato lol)

Problem is that the war would only last about a day, since it would start and end with nukes. No point in risking millions of lives pointlessly in a multiple year conflict that will inevitably end in a NATO victory thanks to the two big oceans separating the US from all the danger, when you can just drag your enemy kicking and screaming down to the dephs of Hell with nukes. Youre going to die in nuclear fire anyway, may as well take the enemy with you.

@@edgardox.feliciano3127 Not necessarily. While Mutually assured destruction is a strong deterrent for war overall, if conventional war between the two superpowers broke out, I see no reason why both sides would immediately start lobbing nukes at each other. Neither side could achieve a victory if nuclear weapons are used, and so, nuclear weapons would probably only be used if one side or the other is facing an imminent total defeat. Most likely, both the USA and USSR would avoid directly invading the other, with each of their war objectives being to just re-draw the world map. For example, the Soviet Union might demand a total US withdrawal from Western Europe, as the US probably wouldn't risk nuclear Armageddon over influence in France or Germany. Harry Turtledove did something about this, where the IJN did managed to sink the US carrier fleet and then invaded and occupied the Hawiian Islands (mainly O'ahu). Even in the books they knew it was futile and the US would taken them back but it was purely an attempt buy them time to create a defensive perimiter closer to the home islands. The loss of the Hawiian Islands and much of the Pacific Fleet sets the Allies back by a couple of years as they retreat and rebuild, leaving Imperial Japan pretty much to its own devices in the Pacific. There's also quite a lot of rape and attempted rape in the two books, which, while it is historically accurate to what the IJ forces did to civilian populations, isn't necessary to advance the story, and may put you off the story.

A scenario where no one is clearly the mustache twirling, cackling evil, but if present, the single-player story is seen mostly through the eyes of fighters who are fighting against what we would have usually seen as the good guys. I don't see it as entirely unbelievable that some socio- and geopolitical situation has resulted in NATO, EU and UN as we know it to have cracked, splintered and reformed. New alliances and all that. With nations normally depicted as liberators or fighters for good, having turned towards overt ultra-nationalism and the conflicts themselves being centered around smaller nations and alliances desperately fighting against larger ones who would conquer and annex these nations and regions for resources, positions, simple buffer-territory or because they allied themselves with some other actor and thus became enemy by proxy. Hmmm In the south china sea which is own by many nations there is a dispute over territory and seas because of Chinese, vietnamese , Malaysian, Philippines coast guards firing warning shoots at each other and also the Chinese fishing vessel's that keeps illegally fishing

The nice thing about the cold war turns hot idea is that if any of the multiplayer battles run over 15 minutes, they automatically end when the nukes fall and kill everyone still alive. Of course, that's also the downside, since the single player campaign ends 15 minutes after the war starts when the nukes fall and kill everyone still alive.

Battlefield: Easter Front/ battlefield:Soviet Eye It’ll go across each year of ww2 from Soviet standpoint and across different characters. Starts with a prologue in the invasion of Finland but main story in USSR vs Germany. It will also have not only the won battles but also the lost battles. And it has to include a battle of Stalingrad Moscow and Leningrad.

Battlefield: Military Sci-Fi vs Fantasy! That's basically an idea I have been creating in Game Ideas wiki. One side has hover tanks, mechs, and power armored infantry, other has magic knights, cavalry, dragons, and gods!

A Battlefield set in the Ace Combat Strangereal setting would be great. I love the Ace Combat series but a Cold War era game in which the war turns hot would be great too

That bit about an alternate-history Battlefield game reminds me, I should go request a Templin video on the Pacific Federation from Project Wingman.

I actually think the Strangereal approach would be really cool and kinda freeing for DICE to do whatever they pleased.

Battlefield Operation Unthinkable sounds like the most fun alternate setting, and something that also hearkens back to the series WWII roots.

mfw The Templin Institute's actual endgame is to kick off an all-out interdimensional war drawing in as many high end combatants as possible just to see how it turns out. I'm ok with this.

I'd be on-board for a far-future setting like you described, but I'm also very conscious of the WW2-sized hole that BFV promised to fill but didn't. I'd unironically like Dice to give it another shot.

I definitely like the idea of an alternate now (Rome or Iriqouis with 20th century tech) or a sci-fi future setting. I wonder if the makers of Battlefield would find Warhammer 40k worth pursuing, especially if they were willing to go all in and have as many factions as possible. Imagine a Battlefield game with 12 distinct factions and multiple sub factions for each.

The plot from homefront was pretty cool I like the idea for a world war game where tones of fighting actually takes place in north america. All types of weather, all types of cities and towns etc. A mission called "the battle for Anchorage" seems like a good idea and gets my interest

Roman Republic vs Imperial China/Asia over the new world with ww2 era technology would be amazing, maybe even have the natives be a wildcard in there with rennasauce level tech.

Battlefield 1967/1973/Middle east? Six day war/Yom kippur war gone too hot scenario? Could also use some "Expirimental" tech like Pereh TD or galil/Merkava/Lavi prototype? Also will provide great maps. Sinai desert for flat tank and AT battles, mount hermon outpost for close querters, golan hights/Vally of tears for tank on tank action with alot of places to get into a shooting position, suez outposts for those who like trenches, morters and room to room combat. It cam be a great game.

I'd love to see a Battlefield 1982 campaign in which the British liberate/reoccupy The Falkland/Malvinas and then go on to liberate/secure Tierra Del Fuego along with the rest of Argentina.

Why not have something set in the 1930s when with War Plan Red materialising. Such a war between the US and British Empire would surely involve other powers and provide new settings and fronts.

I would like to see a Battlefield set in the C&C Tiberium universe. Would definitely be awesome to be part of a massive amphibious landing in Estonia to kick off TW1 or dense fighting around the Temple of Nod. Basically Renegade X on steroids.

There are a few wars and theatres that tend to get overlooked in video games, Korea is the big one that can be divided into 3 phases but the Chinese theatre of WW2 doesn't have anything that I can think of other than the Hearts of Iron series.

I’ve also always thought a Cold War era Battlefield game would be an incredible idea. That and a Korean War Battlefield. They already took a chance with the lesser represented wars with BF1 and people really liked it, so I hope it’s something they try at some point.
@noahdoyle67803 жыл бұрын
Any of the last 3. Anything but the same thing, over and over again. Strangereal would be fantastic. Also, please give us some asymmetry. Heavy, slow infantry with sensors, light, fast insurgents with secret paths, etc.
@ThatTrafficCone3 жыл бұрын
Maybe the Battlefield franchise isn't the best suited for this, but I'd love to see an alternate history where the US uses nukes during the Korean War. While the war ends in a decisive US victory, the world is left appalled. You play as the British, when behind closed doors NATO teams up with the Warsaw Pact to retaliate militarily against the US and try to take away the nukes from this nuke-happy superpower. You'd play with '50s tech in Korea, Europe, and the US as basically the entire world teams up against the US, and probably end with its fragmentation.

This will be absolutely controversial but a Battlefield game set during the 6 day war or Yom kippur war would be interesting. Of course the media firestorm would be more intense than the combat in game. Other ideas include Alternate History Sino Soviet Border Conflict escalation or India-Pakistan Wars Specifically the 2nd Kashmir war or the 1971 Conflict in Bangladesh. And for those wishing a more low level conflict like Vietnam, then Africa is full of potential The Algerian War of Independence, Portugese Colonial wars and the Rhodesian or South African Bush wars. The Cold War and decolonization era is chop full of potential. In the Middle east you also have the North Yemen Civil war dubbed "Egypt's Vietnam" And the Iran-Iraq War.
@RomLoneWolf233 жыл бұрын
I was gonna suggest an alternate Steampunk or Battlefield timeline, but the Roma Invicta timeline sounds dope. Maybe the conflict is between the People's Republic of Rome and the Eastern Roman Empire, with China and the Persians being extra factions.

My ideal next battlefield game would be one of three settings. 1. A vietnam war battlefield, I'm not particularly picky about the year it is set in just as long as we get a reasonably historically accurate campaign with interesting Vietcong AI that are constantly trying to ambush the player and their squad. 2. My second dream battlefield would be a bad company three. The ending to the second game to me just ended on a cliffhanger which just left a sour taste in my mouth tbh. Either a conclusion or just another adventure with the cast of bad would be fine. 3. My third idea, which is probably the least likely to happen, would be a game set in the korean war. I say it's the least likely to happen because I have a feeling EA will be much more concerned about pleasing daddy china than choosing setting that involved china as a major combatant against the U.S and its allies. Which sucks because that is the one out of the three I would most want. I'm sick and tired of future wars and half-assed ww2 games. A Korean war battlefield would be the second time I've been surprised at the setting they chose for a battlefield game (the 1st being ww1 for bf1). Plus No one has ever really made a shooter set in the Korean war as far as I'm aware and would be great at once again bringing the series into new territory.
