I really appreciate a reviewer that can say "I think this is a good game, I did not like it" a game can be great well made visually impressive but just not for you and more reviewers need to be able to say that
@MrGuy__
@MrGuy__ 4 жыл бұрын
i think when watching a review it's kind of a given that what they are saying is their opinion, and not some agenda they're pushing onto you
@spacemanspiff2137
@spacemanspiff2137 4 жыл бұрын
But also sometimes the “I did not like it for these reasons...” is all a reviewer needs to say. It is up to the viewer to decide if the reasons given are enough to keep them away from a game. There is no such thing as an objectively good or bad game.
@alanolson6535
@alanolson6535 4 жыл бұрын
@@spacemanspiff2137 I would disagree I think that there are objectively good and bad games. not that you cant have fun with a bad game or not enjoy a good game. and some times you can't even put your finger on why you don't like a game. I don't like borderlands 3 I should like it, I have liked the first thee and have replayed them recently I just don't like three but it seems like a good game I would not say don't buy it because I don't like it I would say its a good game but I don't like it. Not being able to say "I don't like" it is part of the reason that games reviews are on a 7.5-10 scale at this point

Arlo: Small suggestion. It'd be really appreciated if you wrote out the titles of the games somewhere on the screen, or at least the description. I wanted to check out that tourist game, but I got a bit confused trying to find it since it's actually written as, "The Touryst". Didn't take too much googling to find it- just needed to look up "nintendo the tourist"- but for the sake of convenience I think putting a written-out list somewhere would be a good idea. Anyway, nitpicking aside, cool video. :)

Great video Arlo, thanks for the recommendations! Blasphemous seems especially awesome, might check it out! I'm very happy to hear you've been playing Hollow Knight, and I really hope you'll make a video about it sometime because it's one of my favourite indie games ever! Your Ori and the Blind Forest playthrough is way overdue man!
@jimmymullen6253
@jimmymullen6253 4 жыл бұрын
Legitimate question - am I the only one that thinks that Ori’s combat is absolutely insufferable? I played Hollow Knight first and was super excited to play Ori because people said that both games are great modern examples of metroidvanias done right, but with Hollow Knight, the combat was so crisp and clearly telegraphed that I always felt in control and like all mistakes were my fault and with Ori I felt like I am mindlessly mashing the x button while in vague proximity to an enemy. Is there something I’m missing or is the combat as I described throughout the whole game?

Jimmy Mullen its like that sometimes - its sequel, Will of the Wisps is much better in that regard
@cyberfoxvii6253
@cyberfoxvii6253 4 жыл бұрын
@@jimmymullen6253 You're not the only one who thinks so, but I'm not in that camp. Do you have the Bash skill yet? Once you have that, reflecting projectiles and flinging enemies into spike traps become viable options (it's also where the game's platforming gets interesting). And obtained soon after is Stomp, a heavy-hitting AoE option that doesn't consume energy, unlike Charge Flame. Personally, I always had a lot of fun vaulting off projectiles and slamming down from above, among other such maneuvers; you just need to remember to actually use the powers you have (even Charge Flame to some degree... though, put a resource cost on any ability and I'll feel discouraged from using it...). Definitive Edition (which I assume you're playing) adds a couple options, too, past the dark area under Sunken Glades. I've also heard that the sequel revamps combat considerably, so if the first game's offerings don't cut it for you... well, sorry about that, but maybe Will of the Wisps can deliver where Blind Forest couldn't.

Great format, and I love that you don’t have to finish a game in order to voice an opinion. You can always do an in depth review of games you think need it.

I dig videos like this, honestly. I get to check out a handful of games with just enough detail given for me to determine if I want to give it a go or not. I say keep going with the format, man.

Loved the format! as a big fan of metroidvanias, it was cool to see one of my favorite youtubers just give a normal, everyday impression of it. And since some of these aren't games I would have heard of before, all the cooler! would love more

I love these reviews! They help me out when I'm on the fence about a game or just didn't know about it, because I share a lot of similar priorities and taste in games with you. So it helps me for sure, and I love seeing smaller games get attention!

More of these! I feel like mini reviews like this explain enough to make me interested, but don't go too much where I feel like there's nothing I don't know about the game before delving into it. I also really, really appreciate that you can say "I started it and I just c o u l d n o t." I feel like most reviewers don't post a review unless it's done, but I have so many games in my backlog that I started and never finished because I just.... couldn't get into it. And no one ever talks about games like that because they think it's not an opinion worth having. I super enjoy this, more of this.

Love this mini series! Been watching for 3 years now and I love all your content, but this 5 (anything) hyper is very awesome. We both have very similar opinions on games and the industry..... but we can both get preachy and this allows your intellect to shine brighter on topics better than some of your longer videos (even though I like the longer personal ones) stay safe thanks for the content homie

I like the fact that you look at the eShop. I want a fat eShop collection, but I don’t know where to start. Since the closure of the Wii Shop Channel, I’ve felt that it’s really important to preserve these games, so I’ve tried delving into them but I just need more to look at. Please continue this series.
