I have 4 R-com incubators plus one Brooder I use for opossum rehab. They are hands down the best on the market. I’ve built incubators and bought many- R-Com is head and shoulders above all others. Their reptile specific incubator trays are fantastic for reptiles and you can use your favorite substrate for hatching any reptile including crocodilians, lizards, snakes, chameleons etc.

Would having the heat controller inside the incubator decrease the life of the controller? I know electronics don’t enjoy heat and humidity

I'm pretty sure the box you are using at 9:00 isn't airtight. That's why air isn't a problem. I learned from camping and ice chests that a lot of containers you think are airtight are not.

Thanks Chris do you ever crack open the tubs or replace the press and seal? Or do you just leave them for 60 days?

After about five weeks I do open up the tubs and wipe down the condensation under the press and seal, maybe every week or so after 4-5 weeks once I see it build up.

Hey Chris I have a question for you. Can I plug in multiple heat pads to a power strip and that to a thermostat?? Similar to your first incubator, the homemade fridge.

Great video! I picked up a $3000 non-working glass front wine cooler for $50 off CraigsList. I'm too impatient not to peek all the time if I couldn't see the eggs. LOL. I've got all the parts to assemble an incubator but haven't set it up yet. I plan to use heat tape and two computer fans for circulation.

If I were to get a standing freezer and just put heat tape in it, is that safe? I'd have concerns about the lack of airflow if the door was sealed

Garrett hartle always uses the cooler method.... need to circulate the water also.and hook to a thermostat

In the cooler versions, I recommend putting a submersible water filter to make sure the heat is dispersed evenly.

How do you get the power source into the fridge while keeping a seal on the door?

I wondered that also when I saw it on this video. There's another great incubator video on KZbin that shows cutting a round hole through the cooler to pass all the wires through. Then seal up the whole after for use. The person used a drill bit for installing door knobs. That's what I plan to do.

You should try to set it up so you use the fan that's built in with a cooler and just remove all the compressor lines

I always wondered why you couldn't use the built in fan. Seems like it would be more efficient by pushing the warm air down and increasing circulation.

I don't know why I'm here. I just got an incubator off Craigslist. I guess I just want to try to know if its any good... I don't even have a female yet...lol 😂 But I'm gathering up supplies. Hey it's better to have an incubator and no eggs than to have eggs and no incubator. Anyone want to guess what kind of snake I plan to breed? Hint : It's not the same one he's doing... I mean there's probably a clue on my "channel."
