Cool content, man. I also have a 2010 CBM Pu. I use a BNR S3 setup and am at ~390/385 whp/wtq. I went with a Treadstone TR8C and love it. Good choice on the S-line (bar and plate). I don't know much about Mishimotos on Speed 3s, and just went with the Treadstone because they're known to be great for us. I can appreciate trying something new, but it's also cool to see you stick with the proven bar and plate configuration.
@FiveFiveGarage5 жыл бұрын
I originally was going to go with a Treadstone, but I was able to get such a great deal on the S-Line I couldn't pass it up. Most Speed 3s I have seen with the Mishimotos run the M-Line, the S-Line was just a few bucks more. Bar and plate was a must as I want to upgrade the turbo at some point. The only real downside of running the S-Line is that I am going to have to create a custom crash bar, the JBR bar I used doesn't locate the core properly in the grill opening. Sometimes trying something new is more work than you think!

Yes! A new video! Loving this shit man. I really wish I could calm my mind around replacing the crash bar with an aftermarket one to get the Mishi FMIC or at least a TR8, but my paranoia gets to me
@FiveFiveGarage5 жыл бұрын
I went back and forth with the idea of it too. Finally decided to go for it. I kinda wish Mazda would have designed the crash bar with the mindset of the tuner community wanting to stuff a big intercooler there!

John Nickel you can get the tr6! Doesnt require the custom crash bar. Its direct fit

Exactly. The TR6 is a direct fit, no modification needed for the JBR bar. The TR8 is going to need some massaging.

@FiveFiveGarage4 жыл бұрын
The crash bar ends were heavily modified because the bar sits the intercooler too low. It isn't perfect the way I did it, I am in the process of designing a new bar setup from scratch. Custom bar is the way to go with this intercooler.

The S-Line easily supports over 500 hp. Coolant temps haven't really changed much, I have air gaps so the flow isn't impeded too much. I am going to re-mount the intercooler this summer, I have some changes I want to make.

Hey man great content, I wish I watched this video before the cx fmic. I am running the cx rn and it is very restrictive, I was wondering how could make the core fit with the bar? How did u make the brackets for the core? I got the s line core and want to mount it asap!!
@FiveFiveGarage3 жыл бұрын
Depending on your gen MS3: www.graveyardperformance.com/collections/mazdaspeed/products/graveyard-performance-07-09-mazdaspeed-3-crash-bar That crash bar is designed to fit the larger intercooler cores (especially the M and S Line), save yourself the hassle and nightmare that I went through when I did mine LOL I remember reading somewhere that they might start working on a Gen 2 bar, might want to shoot them an email to be sure. But this makes it MUCH easier to install the S-Line. If that doesnt work I would highly recommend getting one custom made. The setup I used doesn't get the IC mounted high enough, I am redoing it when I get time.
@bgbg71095 жыл бұрын
Are you noticing more engine temps going up? Practically blocks out the radiator... i run the cobb fmic with a jbr crash bar and get nice flow into the engine as well
@FiveFiveGarage5 жыл бұрын
I have been watching them with my Accessport no real big change. There is an air gap over the top so it is not fully blocking the radiator. But I feel like anything bigger than this might cause issues. One thing I need to sort out is that I think I am getting some weird under hood air flow issues since I still have the hood scoop just letting air in. I have been thinking of replacing the scoop with some form of an extractor vent.

How is the fitment on the CXracing piping for the core? For some reason I saw another video of this setup but instead of the elbow coupler he actually used a 2.5-3 coupler that you had originally, and it fit. I’m planning on installing this exact setup but would like to get everything organized before I attempt the installation. Sorry if this is a lot, love the videos bro!

The 2.5-3" coupler will work, I just used an elbow as it was just easier for me, routing wise.

The piping is from a CX Racing kit I had used previously. This kit from RPM: www.therpmstore.com/store/p/892-CX-Racing-FMIC-Piping-customized-by-RPM-for-Mazdaspeed-3.html Is basically the same thing, minus the intercooler. You will have to source a 3" to 2.5" reducer for the S-line. I found some on Amazon.

I have had it in for a couple weeks now. The temps with the S-Line for me have been great, usually around 3 deg above ambient, during 90+ degree days. I wish I could get my hands on an M-Line for a test, maybe I can convince Mishimoto to send me one if I ask really nicely!

I don't. If you use larger than 2.5" piping you are going to have a bad time. The hot side piping gets super tight once you get near the radiator, The cold side isn't too bad but things get tight near the throttle body.

how was the cx racing fmic compared to the stock top mount performance/heat soak wise?
@FiveFiveGarage4 жыл бұрын
Slightly better as it is down in front and not sitting on top of the motor. Once you get in motion it will drop temps faster because of that. On a stock/close to stock car the CX core will do a good job, just make sure it is sitting in direct airflow. If you have any kind of tuning (> 300 whp), once you get some pulls in it will get heat soak just like the top mount.

Ok sweet thanks man other than that have you had a problem with the set up
@darkphantom8814 жыл бұрын
And can you send .e the link for the piping you got
@FiveFiveGarage4 жыл бұрын
No problems with the setup. Last summer when it got really hot, I was able to do back to back pulls and the cooler would drop the temps to close to ambient. I am working on trying to isolate some of the underhood heat better, I think I am going to remove the scoop and replace it with a vent, that opening is just letting in air that can't escape and it might be affecting underhood air flow/cooling.
