I get your complaint with Anakin's Y Wing, but I don't think it deserves to be on this list since it is still an incredible build as you said. Your logic for having it be so overrated is similar to your logic with the UCS Gunship, where you say it's dragged down by bad minifigures, so why wasn't the Y Wing just an honorable mention as well? Plus, even though the minifigure selection is argubaly lacking i felt that the minifigures themselves weren't bad.

I find it annoying that people keep going on about UCS and minifig scale even though its not the point of them, the point is to be highly detailed display pieces for collectors. Not many complaints about the star destroyer or the super star destroyer despite the fact that the bridge is obviously to small for a figure.

Snow Trooper are readily available in the battle pack, so I much prefer having an exclusive Chewbacca covered in snow details rather than another generic Snow Trooper packed in with the Hoth AT-ST. It also gives more balance to the set as a standalone toy, since there are two mini-figurers representing the Rebels to oppose the more powerful Imperial Walker.

@@TheShadowKarl Minifig scale would actually be even bigger than the normal ucs scale for most ships. The USC Millenium Falcon is minifig scale. The UCS gunship is WAY below minigif scale.

@@eightcoins4401 the scale for a minifig is quite subjective. Mark Hamel the actor is a lot smaller than the actor playing Darth Vader but the minifigs are almost the same size. Also the proportions of a minifig are not the same for those of a human, they're not even close. So the "scale" we draw from is quite subjective. I prefer a much tighter, closer scale for the vehicles that match up with their toy counterparts. I used to go for a scale much closer to what you are describing because I was a guy that did drafting back when it was still taught by hand and scale mattered to me. Now I have changed my point of view because as toys I think it is far more cool to make the vehicles smaller so we can make hangers for ships and larger ships that feel like they work but don't break the bank or the space allocations we set for this toy.

0. Aaand problems right out the gate. Everybody complaining about the UCS gunship minifig selection isn't looking at it from the right perspective. For one thing, the minifigs are more of a garnish anyway since like the majority of UCS vehicles that aren't capital ships it's larger than minifig scale. For another, clones alone are a bit boring when trying to sell something that pricy to a larger audience. And for a third, LEGO specifically wanted to *not* screw people over by making anyone _completely_ exclusive to a UCS set, which is why we have a generic Clone Commander (which they're right that casual onlookers would have hard time telling wasn't actually a pilot, especially since they _still_ haven't made a proper Phase 1 pilot helmet) and a premium _variant_ of Mace Windu. ** Though that set does have an issue: Door turrets are finally double-jointed, but now can't tilt. 1. Whatever 2. "Don't get me wrong, they're all amazing display pieces" AND THAT'S THE POINT. That's what it's for. You wish LEGO would make more minifigure-scale UCS sets? Well, you're going to keep being disappointed because that's not what they're mainly for. The ones we've gotten are either playsets, larger craft like the Falcon and Slave I, or that joke from 2002. As for why the minifigures are included? As a garnish, to present the set and give people an extra goody for spending that much money. 3. Agree that the price was a tad licenseflated, and also getting Jango's instead would have been more useful. EDIT: Oh, but apparently you're wrong about it being smaller than the 2006 version. It's the 2018 and 2021 version that are smaller than the 2006 version. 4. I'm not surprised this got overhyped lol. People are still stupidly ga-ga over the Proud Warrior Guys that fans in the 80s formed out of their ocean drool over Boba Fett's armor. 5. LEGO seem to have a hard time making the panel-built heads of AT-STs have two seats. Or maybe they don't feel it's worth bothering since the seating doesn't line up with the eyes very well so you can't _see_ there's two. ** Know who I'd have included with this instead of Chewie? Either another Rebel trooper since Rebel troops are the rarest kind... or go Legends on it and throw in Dash Rendar. 6. The wonky proportions never bothered me since it's a play-scale capital ship. As for why Chancellor Palpatine is included? Well, they had to slip him in _somewhere_ in the line. Plus, the idea that every cruiser has an office to receive him in case he visits references an idea from Legends - where every Imperial Star Destroyer had a small throne room reserved for him. 7. Uhhh... not only is it _titled_ Anakin's Y-Wing Starfighter, it has the *colors* of Anakin's Y-wing starfighter. The others in the squad had the yellow and white mostly switched. I think rather than get clone pilots with this version, we should have gotten the non-leader version as its own set. 8. First, surprised to see this here since it's one of the minifigure-scale UCS sets you seem to be so in love with (even though they are not and never have been the main point of the series). Second, to include hallways in full the set would have had to be even bigger than it already is; that's one area where LEGO is at a disadvantage. Third, it really _doesn't_ lean more to the sequels, although I do agree that it should have included Lando because unlike Luke and R2 we aren't swimming in him. I think part of the problem is that the part of the original trilogy it leans into is the overrated middle movie. ** Here's a better complaint to make about it: *No smuggling compartment* even though multiple play-scale versions have had it. Even though it's important in both the original trilogy and the sequel trilogy. Even though for play purposes it can double as the maintenance pit from ESB. 9. I don't think the build is bad, it's a decent playset-style build, but I'll agree that it's overrated. 10. I don't even have to watch this part. I know from the "Worst sets 1999-2022" video that your entire opinion here is based on you *fundamentally misunderstanding* the Ultimate Collector Series. Every complaint you have stems from your failure to grasp that the UCS's main purpose is to be the LEGO equivalent of those expensive super high detail model kits where a third of the parts are detailing bits so tiny you have to pick them up with tweezers.

some of these i agree with a ton (cough cough cloud sh*tty) but i think your gripes with some of these sets are pretty petty. the whole idea that ucs is supposed to be only minifig scale is just flat out wrong imo, if a ucs set CAN be minifig scale and still be considered ucs, sure. but when people want ucs models of small starfighters, what are you gonna do? give them a damn playset and call it ucs? if you think it looks weird, thats fine, but saying its flat out bad is just wrong. another thing i think youre way too harsh on is the ucs millennium falcons lack of hallways. saying the falcon is the thrid most overrated set because theres no hallways is... weird? i dont think hallways are the thing to be worrying about tbh. i do see what you mean with the sequel figs thing, though. however i think this would have been an understandable placement considering the fact that the falcon was talked to DEATH back when it released, though that isnt to say its not for good reason- its a masterclass set with extreme amounts of detail and care put into it, and imo was only beaten just recently by the ucs at-at from an objective standpoint. i would probably say its just overtalked, not necessarily overrated. nonetheless, good video. i found your channel recently and ive been loving watching the videos- ive wanted to do vids like these for a while now and seeing someone make them fills me with joy. keep up the good vids!

My gripe with the at-st is that lego has all these ratcheted joints and very stable hinges, and they just dont use them in vehicle thats main focus is the legs

I think the anniversary slave 1 is fair priced. Let me explain, it comes woth amazing exclusive minifigs + it has 1000+ pieces, and the ship has incredible design.

i have slave 1 20th anniversary edition and I really like it. I think zuckus and 4 lom are great figures for collection because now I have all of the bounty hunters from episode 5. the slave 1 build is also fantastic.

I agree with half of these, but the UCS gripe I thing is… ridiculous. In the whole of Star Wars, larger ships and vehicles are a rare commodity. To make that worse, the minifig size seriously limits the amount of detail available for the set. In my opinion UCS should only be non minifig scale, with playscale being the sets for minifig scale. The whole point is a adult build with great detail for display, hence the plaques. My gripe with UCS is im tired of repeat “improved” sets with so many ships and vehicles having never been made in any scale, or only made in micro (looking at you, Acclamator). How many detailed X wings and Falcons do we need? I love the ships, but it isn’t something we don’t see on shelves in some form or another every single year.

People aren’t ready to hear this but the UCS Imperial Shuttle should be way up on this list. It’s many people’s “holy grail” yet it has an inaccurate nose, no interior apart from the cockpit and cost around $1500 nowadays… If anything is overrated, it’s that. I’m not saying it’s not cool. But it is overrated.

Then you completely miss the point. Minifig scale is the job of the standard play-scale sets. The main point of UCS is to be more accurate and detailed than those can ever hope to be, and it always has been. Going allllllll the way back to the first-ever Ultimate Collector Series set: 7191 X-Wing Fighter.
