Another GREAT install fellas. When I purchased my 06 Pilot EXL which I still have, I didn’t even wait two weeks to take it to a local stereo shop. I had a Eclipse AVN5500 head unit installed along with my Alpine Type R components and coaxial powered by a four channel and two channel bridge for sub. Phoenix Gold Tantrum amps and 12” kicker L5 sub. The amps were installed in the rear head rest compartment which worked out great and out of view. I also did the Alpine Overhead RES for the kids. BTW, I kept the steering wheel controls but they seem to not respond as when new. I might have to replace the PAC unit. This is a great vehicle that now has 226k miles of fun driving.

Although it’s been 4 years since you made this it’s still relevant to many including myself. It’s time to upgrade the radio on my ‘04 Pilot. I don’t want to loose/replace the factory sub. You addressed this issue with the alpine amp. My question is, that particular Amp isn’t made anymore so has anything come out that’s about the same? Or a head unit that can “plug into” the factory sub? Something simple like that Alpine or even simpler. I don’t need to shake and rattle the car. Thanks for any comments or suggestion from you or your subscribers!

Glad you guys figured out a workaround for the stock sub... Crutchfield also says you lose the it but they don't tell you all you have to do is add a small aftermarket amp to power the stock sub... if that guy had gone through Crutchfield, he'd have lost his factory sub, but you guys did a workaround :)

Does the new stereo hook up to the connections of the old stereo.? Did you only extend the Harness so it can reach the top radio? Are the wires the same colors?

Can you guys touch on a little more on the brake bypass and the avh-4400nex you guys mentioned it in a saturday show. Something about the GPS and vss wire? Is anything loss by hooking it up and not those wires? If I do the bypass should I leave GPS and vss disconnected?

I'm wondering what path you guys took routing the backup camera wires and if that kick panel location was indeed where you found the backup switch wite to activate the cam. Also what about GPS antenna, is that internal on the new head unit? Or does it not have GPS?

Unfortunately that wouldn't work. If you did that it would be so quiet you wouldn't even notice it's there. RCA is what's considered a low-level signal. It's the lower powered side that goes into an amplifier and gets, as you could guess it, "amplified" to a signal a speaker can use. The amp he installed taps into the output side of an amp, it's the stronger signal (called either high-level or speaker-level) from the output (going to a speaker) on one channel of the head unit, and amplifies it for the sub without taking power away from the speaker at the end of the channel you're tapping into. Not sure if that makes sense..

Question for you two, I have a 2015 Dodge Charger SE with the 5 inch display. What I would like to know is if I can replace the factory touch screen (and surrounding buttons) with an aftermarket Kenwood head unit? I've spoken to a few shops in my area and they have all told me that it can't be done at all, yet when I spoke with a tech at Idatalink, they said that I can use the Maestro RR with the head unit I want and it will keep all of the features that the factory head unit controls (such as the temperature controls, power steering sensitivity, and multiple other things like the DRLs). Which is correct?

Does that Honda pilot still have the dual charge mode? I know that the voltage of the car would read 14V at idle or park, but what does it read when you are driving in street speed of 25 mph? Does it drop down to 12.6V then picks up to 14V when going on freeway speeds of 50 mph and up?

Alberto Cortez that's not what a ferrite bead does its a EMI filter. Just wondering if they put them on there because of the interference from other computer in the car radiating noise.

You guys do great work. I have a question. This may be a challenge to answer. I just recently purchased a 2018 Honda Accord Sport 1.5 Turbo edition. I test drove the 2.0 version which is great and comes with XMradio and a 3.5mm AUX jack. This was a teaser because come to find out the 1.5 version doesn't come with either. I love XM and I opted to buy an xm radio that i installed via FM modulator. The signal sucks and reminds me of the early 90's and 00's when cars offered nothing but Tape. So my question is can I add a 2.5mm aux jack? Even if I have to pull the dash solder some wires into the right input wires of some sort??

From my knowledge, you need to pull the drivers side dash panel cover for fuse box, theres 2 15amp purple square fuses and a giant 50 between them near the top. right behind that 50 amp towards the front of the car, theres a empty spade terminal, use a female speaker terminal and test with a multi meter. It should be the RAP ( retained accessory power ) and turn off with the lights, and what not. usually 30 seconds - 1 minute after the cars off and locked.
