This had to have started with Joseph Arthur's interview with Brad Skistimas. Great interview. I loved this song when Joseph Arthur first released it on his Come to Where I'm From CD. I'm happy to see these two collaborate on this song.

Yeah God obviously loves people a lot. Just look at how perfect everyone's lives are--nothing wrong with anything. No one in pain, no one is sad, no one is sick. No one is suffering because no one is evil, because God loves us all.. 🙄

Not sure who hurt you, but I’m sorry.

@@independentRestorationServices you're not sorry, don't gimme that crap. You don't care, you just wanna offload some passive agressive snark on me because you didn't like what I said. I'm not so sure your god would approve of that kind of behavior, tbh..

@@SineEyed nah, I’m not even religious (more of an “energy” type person). Not sure why you think I’d root against you or wish ill on you. Those are negative forces that require more energy/effort from me. I’d also like to think that most people are doing their best and don’t want to see the people around them suffer. Obviously there are contrarians to every type of person I described (it’s also why I carry a gun) but I’m speaking generally. I’m not trying to get into your business or anything but I used to feel similar to the way you did when I was younger. I’ve learned over time that my issues with religion weren’t really with religion/god but with individuals and their interpretation of religion. Ultimately my problem with religion was with organized religion. Yeah, you can say that’s what happens with religion, corrupt men use it to push their own agendas and better their own lives at the costs of others. But the same things are done with government and other forms of power. Any time people have power over others their will be evil/bad/corrupt men that seek power for their own betterment. Any way, sorry for the rant but I sincerely hope you’re having an alright day/week. Even if you’re not religious, I hope you enjoy your Christmas time (whatever that means to you).

@@independentRestorationServices it's funny, if there was a way to repeat this initial interaction a thousand times over, changing only the person replying to me as you did, I bet we'd find my response to be accurate/justified for 999 of them. Seems I was wrong _this_ time though; seems I jumped the gun a bit here. If that's the case, this is one of those rare times I get to say "glad I was wrong" as opposed to the usual, "I hate it when I'm right." In my defense though, the odds were totally on my side. Also, you gotta admit that your first reply easily reads as snark. It's like, ok let's assume that your concern was genuine; what would you imagine as a reasonable and gratifying reply from me be to that statement? Were you hoping to put a critical fracture in the psychological ice wall you presume I've built for myself, such that all the pain and rage would drain out of my soul in a biblical torrent? Were you thinking what you said could potentially save my life? Honestly, what motivated you to say what you did?.. 🤔
@independentRestorationServices Жыл бұрын
@@SineEyed I expected you to tell me to piss off. But I also considered that if you were hurting or in a shitty place that a kind message may actually improve your day a little. I didn’t expect you to have some life altering moment as the result of a KZbin comment but the internet and life are so full of negativity, meanness, and bullshit. I wasn’t trying to change your mind about anything (and I’m still not, do you remember the last time someone online made you change your mind about something when you’re debating/discussing contentious topics? Yeah, me either. Lol). It would have been easy for me to put you down or make some sort of lame comment arguing against your POV. I suppose the best case would be something like Steve Buscemi getting the phone call from Adam Sandler in Billy Madison. You’re not exactly wrong anyways, the world is a terrible place in many ways but why try to make it any worse? I personally really like the song, and think it’s beautiful (I know that corny). I don’t think about God in the typical Christian sense. The song has a different meaning to me but still similar to what I’m assuming the songwriter intended. Hope I answered your question.
