I have that door part 2 on list GE dishwasher my brother put extensions on both sides for that flap since it's not a part you can get. It's been riveted on and part of the door. Mine is still leaking but you've give me some ideas.... Thanks. You are very analytical person, patient, and somewhat relentless! Good for you.

Thanks for a great video and especially for putting the solution at the beginning. It’s amazing to me how your diagnosis was exactly the problem I and others had. I already had a Black Friday deal in the cart from Home Depot, so you literally saved me $800. I may try the silicon solution that was mentioned because I do see a crack at the end of the seal.

Huge thanks Sir. This was my problem exactly and had never though to look before you. Thank so much! Just like you my dishwasher is good to go now after a couple times making sure the seal met heat while also flipped the right way. I hope more GE dishwasher owners see this before replacing door seals and entire units, because it was astonishing how simple/convincing this was, even before I tried it.

First, this video DESERVES a hell of a lot more likes than it has. We have a GE portable that is over 20 years old, but actually was hardly used. In fact, over the last 15 years, it was used maybe 5 times (ish). But now, we've decided to start using it again and wouldn't ya know it, there's a very slight leak at the door. However, it seems to be almost dead center. I haven't done the maintenance on it as yet, but using my fingers to feel the rubber seal at the bottom, it doesn't feel right. I don't know if there's a split in the seal or if it's by design that it's one long piece, placed at the bottom and is supposed to overlap. After we get all the "spring stuff" done, I plan on rolling it outside into the bright sunlight and seeing if I can remove the entire door (without screwing up the whole thing) to get a better look at that seal. That bottom seal is exactly where the inner tub's "lip" meets the door. Fun times.

@@BlondieHappyGuyjust a word of advise, leaving a dishwasher sit with no use causes the rubber seals to dry and crack and possibly shrink. As the old saying goes you don't use it you lose it.

Thanks for making the video. At first I noticed that flap was the culprit as well and adjusting it helped. Now, unfortunately, the flap is split open on both ends and water is getting out. Plus, the inner door part itself is now discontinued and seeing the inner bits made me realize it’s not something I want to tackle. Time for a new dishwasher 😢 just sucks that it’s 10 years old and it still works well.

I had an old model GE that they installed improperly and it leaked undetected for weeks in a manufactured home. My floor had ro be replaced. After they resolved the issue, the dishwasher lasted 18 years!!!!
@NashwaukSteve2 жыл бұрын
Hi Willie Cunningham - undetected leakage is a constant worry of mine! I’m happy to hear you ended up getting such long life out of it. Just curious, did you use the high temp settings, like sanitize and heated dry? I always wonder if those cycles are hard on the unit over time. Thanks for watching!
@renesimard13192 жыл бұрын
That model caused so much trouble for us.. If you want to steer clear only use normal wash & no other fancy functions like sanitize or heated dry.. it will warp & destroy the cheap components it’s made with.. Thanks for the video though though. Obviously, we’re back to fixing it.. again for the forth time with different issues all the time.. I think we’ll toss it to recycling & get a Bosch 500 or 800. Heard repair techs only buy those cause they never get service calls for them

Same issue. Also i fell on the dishwasher door,so now it’s leaking, and the flaps were lose, and not facing the right way.

What an excellent video! I have the same bottom seal problem on my GE Profile Dishwasher. Could you explain how you were able to bend the bottom seal back into the correct direction. I would appreciate learning the steps.
@NashwaukSteve8 ай бұрын
It’s been a while, so I rewatched parts to try to remember. I think I would just over bend it in the correct direction, then shut the door before it could relax back to the old position. Once the door closes on the flap and it’s facing into the dishwasher, it stays that way. Eventually the flap retains the correct positioning. I hope that helps!
@indeed4455 Жыл бұрын
Thank you so much for your video! My right side flap is also "reversed" but it looks intentional. I wonder if facing inward matters, or if it just lost its usual tight seal against the bottom of the tub. Given how the seal is curling on the right vs left side, I would have guessed it is somehow intentional and the gap in the seal just widened over time and that your adjustment just retightened the seal. I don't know. It's pretty tricky to actually force it inward without taking the door panel off but I like another commenter's idea of sticking a sponge in there and turning on the heat cycle. This does seem like a design flaw. I am also going to try to angle the dishwasher up slightly and I already replaced the gasket to ensure that wasn't the issue. I found it odd that it only happens to us about 3/4 of the time, but your turbulence theory is interesting as that would indicate the plates may be arranged in such a way so as to reduce turbulence for the remaining 1/4 of the time it does not leak.
@itsMaxwellHouse Жыл бұрын
It was tricky for me too, keeping a hand on the seal as long as possible as I lifted the door. But I had a verrryyyy similar situation. That seal looked normal until I saw this. I’m betting yours also needs flipped and has had many cycles/heat pushing it the wrong way.

5 common causes of leaks: spraying blade, gasket 1/2, water valve or float valve or missed placed plate.
@vegas2385 Жыл бұрын
Yes my first leak was a cracked spraying blade that wouldn't rotate because of the crack. It would spray the same spot with enough force to cause a door seal leak.

Hi - very nice & informative video...our dishwasher is leaking (from underneath) from that dome-shaped part (minute 3:44 on video...what is it called?) that is located on the lower left corner of the bottom of the dishwhasher, I suppose I can replace that? (already looked underneath where leak is & looks like I should be able to replace that?) Thx.
@NashwaukSteve Жыл бұрын
Hi afa afa- I replaced that GE dishwasher a little while ago, so I can’t look at it in person. At 3:44, I think you’re referring to that gray dome on the floor of the washer. That’s a cover that protects an emergency float switch. So if the water gets high enough to lift that float, the dishwasher will stop. I believe that gray cover snaps off, or twists off, somehow it can be removed. Good luck!

Hi Luis Alonso Mancilla! Unfortunately GE told me that on my dishwasher, the bottom rubber seal was part of the inner door assembly, not an individual part. That makes it a bigger job than it should be, and more $$$! Thanks for watching!

I had nearly the same model and have the exact same issue and I noticed the rubber door flaps on both sides are warped so I am not sure how you got it back to the correct position.
@NashwaukSteve3 жыл бұрын
I was able to just kind of force mine back to the correct position with a blunt object (the eraser side of a pencil or something) Then once I ran a few cycles with it in the right place, it stayed there. I just replied to a comment about replacing the flap. Unfortunately it’s part of the inner door, so it can’t just be replaced by itself. Good luck! Dripping dishwashers are super frustrating!
@igloozoo37713 жыл бұрын
@@NashwaukSteve So I ran a cycle with setting to heat dry and once the wash cycle is done, I open the door and put a kitchen sponge underneath the rubber flap and closed the door. That seems to put the flap back into place for now.
