hey guys I finally found why my desktop audio was lagging behind. Everywhere I looked, nothing seemed to work, and even a few articles online suggested matching the Hz in OBS settings, which was set to 48Hz. What worked for me was going into the Windows sound settings, clicking on my speakers, then selecting 'Properties,' followed by 'Advanced.' In the dropdown menu, I chose '24 bit, 48000 Hz.' I always had it set to '32 bit, 48000Hz,' thinking it was the correct configuration based on advice to match it with OBS's 48hz option. It turns out, that was the issue - I had no idea I needed the 24-bit option instead of the 32-bit version.

Thank you. This helped me. I'm laughing right now cause I was testing Deus Ex sound effects to see if it was working or not (and your profile pic lol..) but hallelujah man that was driving me nuts. Basically I had a mega delay between sound effects / output from games feeding through the mic "early" on my end and then replaying through stream a bit later. For whatever reason your suggestion resolved the issue though after beating my head against many other ideas (noise gates, offset, delay blablabla.. this was the easy fix) Thanks again.

This video helped me for a little while, however this can become ineffective if your PC is in a situation where the audio delay gets worse over time like mine did. For me, it quickly got to a point where even setting the maximum allowed audio delay in OBS wasn't syncing the audio to video. If this is happening to you, my own solution was to update audio drivers. In particular, if you have Realtek HD Audio as one of your sound devices in Device Manager, try updating the drivers for it. That solved the audio delay entirely for me.

How do i fix the audio from my gameplay if it is delayed compared to the actual gameplay?
@lonr3737 ай бұрын
change your sound settings to 24 bit 48000hz. the 32 bit 48000 option will always be delayed. only do this if your obs settings is also set to 48hz because i believe there is another option like 44.1 or something like that. in which case Idk so just use the 48 option in obs

I have a weird problem where I use OBS to display my Switch to my PC monitor, and when I set OBS' refresh rate to 60fps and start playing my Switch there's no delay until a few minutes after I begin playing, then there's a delay that gets worse and worse every few minutes. Any idea how I'd go about fixing that?

Mine is only delayed some of the time so this doesn't really fix it for me. Sometimes its really delayed, sometimes it plays perfectly and I don't know what causes it. Theres no sound delay at all through my speakers.

my question is why did this issue just randomly happened. I've been streaming for years and now i just got this issue. could i just reboot my computer?
@BeckiLea Жыл бұрын
Always worth a try especially if it just happened for no reason. This usually happens if there has been an update or there has been changed to how you capture audio, such as using a new capture card with a different latency. It can also been if your OBS audio frequency is set to different than that on your PC, which can happen if you install new audio software. Lots of reasons but no real reason I know of is absolutely nothing has changed.

I loved your video, ask how do I put the rgb on the edge of the webcam with the shape it has?
@BeckiLea3 жыл бұрын
Thanks Caltech 🙏 I made the border in OBS using a combination of plugins, the colour is added using StreamFX (I’ve done a video on that already), the shape is done using OBS Shaderfilter by Surn and the animation is with Move Transition by Exeldro. I do plan to make a tutorial showing all of these things soon :)

Hey my problem is not solved, hmm, the GAME audio is like 1-2sec behind in OBS, like say I am on the menu screen on my gaming console, and when moving to different tabs, you then hear the clicks 1-2sec late in obs, this is the same with actual in-game audio too. Hope you can help, great video!
@BeckiLea2 жыл бұрын
Hi Terry. Try adding a filter to your game source (the visual not audio) and choose Render Delay. You may have to stack a few of these as I think they max out at 500ms so you would need 4 if you have a 2 second delay. As you can’t speed up audio, you need to drop the visual back a second or two.

@@BeckiLea Glad I saw this. Idk if I got it perfectly, but it's better than it was. My Elgato video and audio were in sync but going out faster than my mic, and I noticed that when I was humming to the music of my game I was off beat in the recording. I'll tinker with it a little more, but this helped a lot.

Thing is, I don't need it to be further behind I need the audio to be earlier than it is currenly. And putting it at -100 seemed to do nothing at all, going further didnt do anything either.. I can only make the delay worse...
@BeckiLea2 жыл бұрын
Hiya. Firstly check in your audio settings what HZ it is set to. If this is mismatched to your windows audio settings then there will be a delay. If these already match then you can try the following: Try adding a filter to your game source (the visual not audio) and choose Render Delay. You may have to stack a few of these as I think they max out at 500ms so you would need 4 if you have a 2 second delay. As you can’t speed up audio, you need to drop the visual back a second or two. Hope this helps.

My game audio always shifts throughout the time of my recording. Like it will be in sync and then off then further off. Then if I close OBS and start over it does it again and all my clips are off. I tried using SLOBS too and had the same issue. I changed the time but it only helps initially and then it starts sliding off again. If anyone knows how to fix this it would mean the world I've been trying to fix this for weeks now.
@BeckiLea2 жыл бұрын
Hey Shiloh. First thing to check is that everything you are using to capture and edit are all running on the same frame rate and the same audio frequency. I actually had this issue as I was using Voicemeeter Banana and it was set to 48kHz but OBS was 44.1kHz. I’ve also seen this happen when importing OBs footage into video editors when the frame rates are slightly different.

@@BeckiLea Thank-You! I went and checked and I had them set to the same before but I guess at some point the windows output changed back to 48.1 . It must have after updating or something. Thank-You!!! :)

Why not just use an Audio Video Sync Test like the kind you find on KZbin? Just browse to it on your console or plug your computer HDMI into the capture card and headphones out into your audio mixer and record, then open in a video editing software to figure out how many frames the video is behind the audio, then calculate how many milliseconds you need to delay your audio. This will be much more accurate than relying on your vocal performance to sync up the video game audio.
