Found this your video while looking to fix a Wahoo Elemnt Bolt broken (tab) plate. Went down hard like you; stuff happens, right? Dog Ears' sight says the Wahoo Elemnt plate's compatible with a Garmin bike mount... WTF? Just looking to connect it to my bike's mount, one that's for an Wahoo Elemnt. Are both Wahoo and Garmin bicycle mounts (tab slots) the same or am I missing something here. I'm thinking the latter! Cool site, BTW!

First of all, sorry about your fall and I hope you are ok. Regarding your question, Garmin and Wahoo mounts look similar, but they lock in differently. Make sure you chose the one meant for your bike computer. And thank you for the kind words.

That's awesome Nick!!! Thanks for the feedback. So how is the mount holding up? I dropped my bike on a rock a few weeks ago and had to re-glue the mount back on, lol. Having said that I love this thing and it's been a great solution.

had never a crash (road bike), and it broke on both sides within 3 years just from vibration. I wonder if it's seriously under-engineered, or if my mount for the integrated bar set somehow develops too much force.
@TrailSage Жыл бұрын
Ugh bummer. I'm not sure if the construction is weak but the repair plate is metal so it should solve the problem. Although you may have to re-glue it once in a while. Good luck.

I have no issue with dogears, it is a solution for a serious issue that recovers the unit. But to destroy wahoo bolt with a file in that way that you have damaged it more then it was is something that I can not wrap my head around and I can not understand. If I gave it to my 9 year old son he would do a better job at creating less damage on the unit.
@TrailSage10 ай бұрын
lol I know right?!?! I really struggled with the file. The good news is the dogears work great and no one can see the underside of the computer but me ;)
@B0og3yman8410 ай бұрын
@@TrailSage well I have to give it to you for the self criticism, I respect that. Now for my Wahoo roam i had the similar thing happen, mounting tab broke, the other one you remove with a pair of pliers, much more easier and cleaner. My cheap 3D printer did the job, only difference, I removed entire bump on the back of the wahoo roam with a small dremmel, I made it fully flat, 3d printed thin plate with wahoo mount and glued it with epoxy, looks like nothing happened, and is stronger as epoxy has much wider area to hold, if it breaks, I can just print another one and repeat.
@TrailSage10 ай бұрын
@@B0og3yman84 I never take myself too seriously which is why I include bloopers at the end of all my product reviews ;) As for your roam, what a great fix. I love that.

I have one of these for my ROAM and where it is very nicely done I have had problem after problem with my wahoo pucks just breaking as this thing just chews the plastic up with how tight the thing is that is fine if you never intend to remove it but I do this every day and have broken two mount arms ... and three pucks in the year I have had this ... this would not be a problem if there were pucks that were also METAL but no... only plastic which just gets chewed to pieces .. has anyone else had this problem and managed to correct it ... so irritating to have such an awesome bike computer rendered useless because they didn't think a METAL approach would be better when they originally made it sounds like the planned obsolescence to get us to buy a new one by time the ears go
@TrailSage2 жыл бұрын
Ugh that sucks. I have not run into that issue. Have you tried sanding/filing down the metal ears to make them less snug?
@ZoltanLesi Жыл бұрын
Nice video, but the the plate is not precise. It is just not fitting to the wahoo mount. The plate is for sure the wahoo version. Do you have contact, can i send it back?
