It works! Home depot 3 inch flush valve fits my 4215A ($13.95 Everbilt 3 in. Universal Toilet Adjustable Flush Valve with Flapper). You need a big wrench to take off the old flush valve. Otherwise it is a breeze.

Trying to wrap my head around how a 3 flush valve in a 4 hole doesn't leak?? How is that possible??
@handytf21 күн бұрын
because the seal is slightly larger than the 4 inch hole, as you can see from the video.

I was able to convert from American Standard valve to a standard 3” valve. This is the second valve I had to replace since purchasing this toilet about 18 years ago. The first replacement was done after about 3 years under warranty and American Standard sent me a replacement free of charge. Now I can buy the flapper at a local hardware store if it leaks avoiding to replace the whole valve assembly.

glad it works for you.

At 3:01 in the video, are you putting on the old 4" tank-to-bowl gasket back on or are you using the 3 inch gasket from the kit?

the 3 inch gasket from the kit

@@handytf Thanks. I have been struggling with this POS for a week now, and this will probably be my next move.

Yes, I tried this 3inch kit out of desperation. I was so pleasantly surprised that it actually works, that is why I share it to the public. and anyone can change flapper.

RED FLAG! At 2:04 ... "as you can see the hole is a little bigger than the new flush valve". YIKES! Installing a smaller valve assembly (as demonstrated in this video) will work... but... it defeats the purpose of buying a Champion 4 in the first place... not to mention a flooded bathroom if you don't get the new smaller valve dead center of the hole in the tank when installing it. Bad advice all the way around! The reason why the Champion 4 toilets flush so dang well is due to the size of their larger 4 inch flush. NET: Make sure the "kit" (whatever brand you buy) was specifically designed for as a replacement for a Champion 4, being 4 inches in diameter not a 3"... like the one linked in this video.

Thank you for your comments. I have done this to my two Champion4 toilets, and it has been working great for one year now.

Exactly what I am wondering. How does this not leak??
@miketahan8560 Жыл бұрын
Why didn’t you just unscrew the top of the flap off and replace the silicone seal? It would have been a lot easier.

I did that many times, it just leak again very soon. Also, I have done that so many times, the top broke off.
