That’s great information. I have a three car garage, all with their own opener. I was having a problem with door no. 1. It had no power going to it at all. I swapped the sensors with a door no. 2 and still no luck. After watching your video, I discovered that there was interference between the 2 doors. I corrected the sensors on door 2 and now everything works. Thanks for the great info. I’ve been searching for a a solution for 2 days and I have a technician coming out tomorrow. Thanks to you, I have corrected the issue, I can cancel there service call, and save some money.

I'm so glad your comment was first. I bought replacement safe-t-beans only to discover they don't work either. After reading your comment and finding a relevant section in the video, I started to play with the second garage door safe-t-beans and lo and behold, broken one started working again. Thank you and the Flannel Guy for pointing me in the right direction (since Genie Troubleshooting guide was useless)

Thank you! I placed a box between the two adjacent garage sensors. The sensor blinking stops and the garage door operates normally now.

Thank You! My red light was blinking on a new install, placed a piece of plywood between the two door sensors light stopped blinking. Will swap them out like you advised.

Hi, I watched your video and went direct to the censors. Green light was blinking, so I grbbed a bench brush and removed al the tiny spider webs and dust around the censor housing. I also put away some buckets and green light became solid, thank you, thank you. Besides the chain was dry, it was stopping at centain point, I applied some WD-40 and worked as before. You inspired me to try and swap wires from adjacent working sending unit to troubleshoot mine. It worked! I could not find videos on how these units are wired. Mine has 4 wires going into one side.

The issue is these garage door sensors are so outdated in their technology. Take a look at a sensor that can solve the sun issue, alignment issue, coverage issue and also help guide your car in the garage! Let me know if you want to give this a try?

Hi! I have a red light on one sensor and a green on the other. I just added new remotes, they were all working the door. Later on I tried a remote and door won’t open lights are one green and one red. What happened? Everything was working fine.

I have never had a garage, so I don't know anything about the garage door installed in the house I have bought. My garage door doesn't open. I remember a few days ago a small box outside of the garage on the wall lights red. After watching the video, I checked and I could not find any sense installed. Perhaps the sensors are back of the vertical rails. If so, there should not be any alignment problem. Does anybody know what the problem is? I want to thank you for this informative video.

those sensors have nothing to do with whether the door opens. You should go through the troubleshooting process for your garage door opener.

Great video. Only suggestion is using a level that can be attached to the rope line. They sell small ones with hooks that can be attached to any thin rope line or chalk line.

Thank you. My garage door opener hasn't worked since my neighbor in our huge condominium complex had his garage door replaced. At first I suspected the garage door company did something to damage my unit. Today I noticed that both sensors are directly next to each other as mentioned in this video. I checked all the other garage doors in the complex and I noticed that the sensors are all on opposite sides of the other garage doors except for the one that was just installed by this company. One would think that a garage door company would know something as basic as this. Perhaps they did and were trying to sucker me for some more business. If that was their intention it almost worked. Thank you again for the advice.

I didn’t know the wire orientation mattered. Gonna double check this when I get home. I feel I might just need to replace the entire wire to the unit. It is very brittle.

A line level would be the right tool for a leveling string.

Bonsoir, Suite à une panne de courant de plus d’un an, et oui j’ai été partie, j’ai refait la programmation. Cela fonctionne bien lorsque je presse les boutons sur le moteur, mais j’ai des problèmes avec mon ouvre porte murale. Le port est usé comme une porte de 10''. Suite à la lecture de la section sur le dépannage, j’ai découvert que le voyant rouge du 'senser' clignote tout le temps et l’autre, qui est vert, reste fixe. Il n’y a aucune obstruction, les 'sensers' sont alignés et aucun autre équipement qui pourrait faire de l’interférence. De plus, il y a une lumière rouge qui clignote sur le moteur. Est-ce qu’il y a quelqu’un qui a une solution ?

fyi, with a lift master, both lights will be off if misaligned. to fix realign until each light come on. if not aligned the yellow light on the motor blinks to alert you of misalignment.
