Revised procedure: USE MICROFIBER CLEANING CLOTH WITH GLAS WINDOW CLEANER. 1) Cut microfiber kitchen cleaning cloth into A4 size. 2) On one rub the window cleaner into the area, were the paper feeder role touches the cloth. 3) Put 20 sheets of A4 paper into the paper tray 4) Put the cleaning cloth on one A4 plastic sheet and put it on top of the 20 sheets into the tray 5) Run at least 5 printing jobs (you always have to reset and restart the printing job.) 6) Turn the cloth with A4 paper 180 degree and run one print job for drying the role. 7) Now… your printer should work again !!

Thanks for the idea. I have used similar double sided tape as in the video, but hasn't risked to let it go through the printer. Instead I cleaned the rollers without turning the printer on. I have attached a piece if tape at the middle of the shorter edge of an A4 paper and moved it a bit back and for in the normal loaded position by hand. It cleaned the rollers gradually. Now my printer feeds perfectly. Thanks again. :-)

6 years later and you're still helping people solving this problem. I didn't have double-sided, so used regular scotch tape and taped several pieces together facing up and then taped them down to the paper on the edges with another piece facing down. It took several passes, but now my printer pulls paper in like it should. Thank you!

OMG, this really worked!!! I was so frustrated!! If you already are on your last nerve, just fast forward to 4:30 minutes in. First I had a paper jam, then the printer just kept mangling each subsequent page ... DO THIS ... Use one piece of card stock paper and a couple strips of small double-sided tape on the card stock. This is the best part ... LOL ... jam this paper in and out to relieve tension (if you were frustrated like me, haha) and the dirt on the inside roller comes off on the tape and then the roller has traction again!!!!! It literally takes 20 seconds (unless you have a ton of frustration to get out!!!!!) FYI DO NOT put that sticky paper on the floor if you have nosy cats .... yep, mine stepped RIGHT ON IT before entry!! Thank you so much for saving the printer from the trash and me from angina!!!

Thanks man! I didn't try your method since double tape isn't available but it was urgent for me to clean the rollers. With your video, I suddenly got an idea. What I did was: I made the end of a blank paper a little bit wet with water and a bit of alcohol. Just some drops of water on my fingers then spread it on the end. I saw some dirt that the wet end of the paper managed to remove. Then I decided that I should still clean it more, so I put some alcohol on my fingers and slightly wet the ends of another paper. And more dirt removed. The result: feeder roller became more smooth. I don't have to put only one paper one by one whenever I need to print many pages or copies. :)

Works 100% fine. Cleaning with double tape won't damage your printer. what I did: take a thin cardboard (cornflakes box) (cauz paper might tear and jam in printer) apply double tape in the end only (horizontally) let it in and out of the paper tray manually (keep printer off) You can see the dirt in the tape. repeat above step until the roller is clean. and your printer is ready to rock and 'roll'. thank you so much for the video.

Thanks! Cleaning the rollers is the definitely the way to go. I used a metal ruler with double sided sellotape and with the printer turned off I pushed it back and forth under the rollers. With your other hand use a long flat headed screwdriver to hold down the mechanism which holds the rollers (basically like an aircraft undercarriage) to ensure you get a tight fit when you squeeze the ruler between the platform below and the rollers. Worked for me and no risk to printer.

I was about to buy a new printer under absolute frustralition. Your video allowed me to go a step further. Unplug the printer, turn it upside down, my printer had 4 philips head screws holding platic guides, remove 2 guides for the paper tray, removed them, removed the paper tray then peeled the rubbers off the pickup rollers then washed them with brush in dish washing liquid and water, dried with cloth (not tissues, they have oils), reinstalled on the rollers (already could feel the rubbers were more grippy) then reassembled the tray and guides.. Re plugged the printer and whoa, the printer was throwing the paper in.

Just tried the double back tape method & it worked great. I lined up 3/4" strips about 4' long to align with the rollers & ran it through the printer numerous times. After that, I lightly wet the strips and paper along the roller path to help remove remaining dust followed by new, dry paper to remove remaining water, it worked great...printer takes paper perfectly now, thanks for your great suggestion.

Thanks! So, I read the other comments and had a think. Was worried about the doubles sided tape and paper getting stuck. So here's my upgrade on your initial great idea. 1. Got a large plastic ruler that was wide enough for to get under both wheels. 2. Double side taped on a strip of cotton (mine from a rag that was daughters old school sports shirt, mix of cotton and acrylic I guess? It has a rough weave) to end of ruler. 3. Soaked cloth in isopranol Alcohol, placed it under the wheels. 4. 'Printed' a blank sheet multiple times, pressing the green button (lower left) each time printer complained there was no paper. 6. Did this about 6 + times ... and lo and behold ! the next sheet of paper I printed worked. NB - the bonus of using the Isopropanol was the double sided tape came off my ruler easily - but it stayed strong enough to not have the wheels pull the fabric off. Hope this adds to this excellent, 'right to repair' video. Too many printers get thrown out that can be easily fixed !!

Thanks. I have a similar printer to you, and your video helped me work out another method. I used some narrow double-side sticky tape on my finger to dap onto the pad at the bottom of the paper tray and the rollers above it. I did this by looking into the printer with the paper tray out as far as it goes for the pad on the paper tray, and by lifting one edge of the printer while the paper tray is out to access the rollers from the underside.

I cleaned the front feed rollers using a cotton swab, alcohol, tape, and a stick. I vacuumed out the printer as well. Once the rollers were cleaned they picked up the paper.

Good idea. Thank you very much for this useful and do-able tip. I have the same printer & same problem. I tried to do it with two pieces of double sided tape applied at the end of card paper parallel to the paper edge (unlike your which was along the track of rollers) because I was scared of paper get jammed inside. I did it manually with printer off & then felt a bit confident to run the paper through the printer, switching it ON. To my utter shock, paper went inside smoothly but completely rolled over on one of the rollers bars,close to the outer tray due to the scotch tape adhesion. I did not take the risk of dismantelling the printer to reach that roller bar,so what I did was to cut the paper several times with a sharp cutter (risking the rubber of roller bar) & taking out piece by piece with a long tweezer. I removed the cartridges though. It took me almost one hour to take out the shreds of paper stuck in there. Then I cleaned the roller bar with alcohal. Finally the printer was OK & it worked perfectly taking in the papers smoothly. My advice: Do it manually, while printer is OFF.

Paper Feed Issue resolved: Canon MX 472 Should work well for other similar printers. This KZbin video made me take the risk below. I was hoping it would work or throw out printer. Previously used Rubber Rejuvenator, alcohol, water. No luck. This worked. I had to junk 2 printers that I got for free before I did this. My Steps: Took basic file folder and cut to 8.5* 11 similar to basic standard printer paper. Took Product: Touch ‘n Stick Spray Construction Adhesive Professional All Purpose Formula that I had in my shop for many years but can still buy doing an Internet search. Sprayed about ¼ from of the top of the cut file folder. Waved in air for about 5 seconds. Pushed the top of sprayed cut file folder into input tray so that it would move the pick-up roller back and forth about 10 times smoothly and fairly quickly. Do not let the folder just sit touching the pickup roller or bottom of area pickup roller sits, keep on moving back and forth and then pull the cut folder out and away from the printer and into the trash. Walked away for ½ hr. Took my paper feed just fine. After a week still working. Feeding paper and printing. This is my first post to KZbin because I share everyone’s pain and expense.

Your video is great, but I didn't have double sided tape so I used a cotton ball on a wire with rubbing alcohol. Works great now!
@IONHowTo2 жыл бұрын
Sounds good! Best is to use what you have already around.

You just saved me a printer! Many thanks! I was noding my head around why is not pulling the paper.. Sorted it it using tape face up on a piece of paper and that tape actually taped down to that pice of paper 😂. And make sure you open the rear of printer so goes through the front and exits at the rear and doesn't affect the printer 👍.

Thanks! That worked for my mx537. One tip is that you can open the back of the tray to prevent the second rolls from pulling the paper up.

Your tip still works. I thought my printer was possessed. Nope! It just needed to be cleaned. Thank you.

Just used a flat ruller, on which I fixed with an elastic on one end, a computer wipe. I put then some hydroalcoholic gel (for hands cleaning) on the wipe, to have it more wet. Then I placed the wipe juste below the 2 transport wheels, and using the ruller, I forced the wheels upwards. Then I start a print (copy), the transport wheels turn a bit then stop with the "no paper" sound. I click "Ok" on printer, and then several times again, to force the little transport wheels to turn on the wipe, with ruller still in place and pushing the wipe upwards on the wheels. After 5 or 6 times, I felt the little wheels were drawing more onto the wipe and ruller, so I stopped and waited 10 minutes to dry completly. Then I tried with paper sheets, and the transport wheels were working perfectly as new :) ! Thanks for the idea of doing that, I was about to brick that 8 years MX535, but now it is working yet as new :D

Great video. I just had to clean the rollers (easy access on my Canon MG5750 just by turning it over and pulling out the paper tray) and instant success. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction

Thanks, man! it really worked I tied a 10 cm ruler with a spoon and at the end with cotton with some Perfume onto it. worked as if it were new.
@IONHowTo5 жыл бұрын
Wow that's pretty nice! Perfume should work well. Alcohol makes rubber dry so don't use too much. If you can find alcohol-free wipes that's even better! That's a pretty cool way to print some love letters. 😁

Going crazy this morning thinking about wth is wrong with my printer! and finally stumbled into this video. The problem is only one side of the roller is taking the paper. Tried the cardboard and the double-sided tape but to no avail, it still not feeding. Until I checked the inside and lift the feeder until I saw a Crayola crayon inside! lol, So my advice is also to check inside, check everything! wasted my time the whole morning trying to figure out whats wrong! . haha

Hello, great feedback, I have the same problem and was thinking about disassembly my printer for cleaning, but this could be a huge mistake, thank you for review
@MrMick5606 жыл бұрын
you can make the double sided tape less sticky by repeatedly pressing some material like denim (jeans) on it, or some cloth that doesn't leave bits of fluff.

I looked online and transport cleaning sheets are just very expensive. :( Maybe will try this trick later when I got back from work. Thanks! EDIT: dude your trick worked! it fixed the feeder so now my printer doesn't have problem pulling the paper :D thank you very much!! EDIT2: i actually did the trick 2-3 times (with double-sided tape) to "force" the dust out of the feeder, now i'm a happy man :D

+opsddos Enjoy it :) yeah the original cleaning sheets are for speed ceanup in professional scanners or printers. Try to do it only when its really needed. Cheers :)

Ended up taping some alcohol wipes to a ruler and sticking that in under the rollers while the printer was doing its cleaning routine. Once the rollers dried out, they started to pick up paper like new. Thanks!
@AdamsSIMporium3 жыл бұрын
EASY METHOD... Few sheets of paper, spray the end with Isopropyl Alcohol, the run roller cleaner (hold stop for 7 flashes). As rollers go, help paper in a bit if need be, but then hold it in place so rollers spin over the alcohol. Do it a couple of times if needs be. Easy, no mess and the cogs don't go mad clicking like crazy.

I had a different model, but your video helped me find the catch in the back panel.
@mattgraham13986 жыл бұрын
Thank you for the brilliant and innovative solution. I used Scotch brand double sided tape and made the pieces about three inches long. It was just strong enough adhesive. Don't forget to open the back of the printer when you run the tape through. Worked perfectly! Subscribed already!
@IONHowTo6 жыл бұрын
Thank you for the comment! 👻 Great tip about opening the back! That makes it a lot more easy. 😁
@paulfontaine78194 жыл бұрын
Exactly, with the back open, the risk of jamming or damage is minimal.

I wanted to almost throw my printer out of the window until I saw this video. It worked for me. The printer occasionally clicks a bit hard but now he takes the paper. Thanks for sharing.
