My printer keeps saying "Load paper" even after putting paper in. Watching your video I noticed that your paper sits in the main tray further than what mine does - mine sticks out past the end of the black plastic. Why is mine doing this? I can't print anything as I can't load paper, even though I believe I am loading it correctly. Any ideas as to what the issue might be?

Hi. There must be something in the way. Were you able to inspect with a flashlight? Also, my paper size is 8.5x11 inches. Standard letter size paper. I don't know if that may be the case. If paper isn't loaded to the end, paper will not be able to pick up paper.

I had given up on this printer after getting absolutely no help from Canon troubleshooting guide. Right before I was going to toss this printer in the trash I stumbled upon your video. I didn't expect this to work because the rollers didn't appear dirty. But I cleaned both pairs of rollers (under side and rear) with alcohol and the corner of a paper towel. I was thrilled when it actually worked. Bravo!!!

this series sucks. Since day one it doesnt like to pull paper years later ive used it maybe 5 times and when I do i hand feed each piece in or it jams. I'd throw it in the trash if it was a daily use item.

You don't have to throw it away. Actually, it is very easy to get to paper feeder roller on these printers. Just slide the printer tray open, put printer on its side and you will see the rollers. All printers get that problem since paper leaves small dust particles that accumilate obver time.

Hello. I'm sorry your printer isn't feeding paper. Have you tried cleaning rollers like in this video? That would be the first thing to do. Let rollers dry for a few minutes and try feeding paper again

When you removed paper, was it intact, or ripped? If ripped, the piece may still be in printer. Turn printer off and back on to clear error. Also, use flashlight to shine inside printer and see if anything is out of place.

This was very helpful cleared jam for good. Paper kept jamming intermittently. A tiny plastic piece that is part of the rear assembly was loose and would pop up occasionally (out of position)when pushing the paper tray back in. Removed the broken piece from the rear assembly and now it’s printing like when it was new.

Hi. There must be something out of place in the ADF feeder or a piece of paper or paper clip in the way, or one of the rollers need to be cleaned.

What about the Canon 452? The roller is not grabbing the paper and I continually received "add paper"

There is also a compartment at the back that can open. Make sure it is closed properly. That may also Cause problems if it isn’t addressed

Hi. Open the back cover and pull tray out, then pull papers out the back door. If you need to do one sheet at a time, gently do that.

Thank you. Are the rollers spinning fine when sending a job? A problem may sometimes be that the gears are broken, which i hope is not your Printer's case, but check. Usually cleaning is what gives it the grip.

Hi. Open the adf cover and try to spin the gears. If they spin, but rollers do not, there may be a gear that slipped out of gear assembly. Sometimes, just aligning the gear into position will resolve the problem. Make sure your adf rollers are clean as well.

I have an older Cannon MG5520 which I’ve NEVER gotten good paper run with. Usually don’t even use it. Today I challenged myself to update the software, clean it up, et and try and figure out why the paper won’t feed smoothly. Remove the cartridges and clean the contacts. That may be causing the printer power to short

What if the problem is not the roller, but the paper is getting jammed on the opposite side of the roller in the ADF? And I've looked and there is no debris on that side of the feed. I cannot tell at all why the paper seems to jam on that side of the feed.

Try to see if your printer top door is closed fully. It may be out of hinge area and paper isn't feeding through because of obstruction

Hi. You need to check the settings of the printer on your computer that you are printing from. Make sure youbselect proper paper, for example "Plain" , correct size. Usually "letter" and save the settings. Let me know if you tried that already.

My printer picks up an extra paper at the end of a printing job and thats when it gets jammed. It seems like the pickup rollers activate after the last sheet is fed and then the printer won't push that paper through to the printing area or a third set of rollers (if there are any) aren't pulling it through.

There maybe a couple things. 1. Chwck the paper to make sure it is loaded at the proper size mark. 2. The paper stop piece which looks like a zigzag, located at the end of paper tray, maybe out of place or broken. Check that.

Hi. There is a sensor tab on the adf which is royally stuck and needs to be released for your printer to let you scan off the glass top. The adf rollers need to be cleaned with alcohol or windex and that should resolve the problem with the paper not being pulled in the feeder.

I’ve had this printer since 2017 and never had one issue that I couldn’t fix just the logical way until now. Today my printer decides that I’m out of paper when I’m not. Thank you so much. Yes Canon was not helpful, I guess they want me to buy a new printer. This printer is not very old, but the pick up rollers were dusty. Alcohol swab cleaning did the trick. Thanks for showing how to open up all the rollers.
