Hey John, great content! According to Clarios, who represents the largest battery manufacturer in the world today and produces the DieHard battery along with 20 other private label names, the recommendation is not to load test them but to check their status via voltage. If the reading shows below 12.4 volts, they suggest charging the battery and retesting. The rationale behind this recommendation is that batteries are not fully charged or cured at the factory, which could potentially extend their shelf life. Prematurely load testing the battery at this stage may provide a false reading when all the battery needed was a recharge. Batteries should fully cure after 15 to 20 minutes of normal driving.

Thanks John. Some of you viewers should not jump to conclusions when doing their own charging test and parasitic current draw test. Some charging systems are computer controlled and the charging will vary depending on several conditions. GM for instance uses EPM which has 6 different charging modes depending on conditions. Seeing 11.6v - 15v can be normal. And for testing for parasitic draw, best to find service data first. Systems like Subaru specifically call for testing between 5 and 20 minutes after engine shutdown. After 20 minutes self tests kick in. And Range Rovers are crazy complicated. So before throwing parts at a problem do your homework. Cheers.

Right on. I will be doing a quick check video covering the scope and scanner in a quick go or no go test result format. you may find that one interesting when it’s released. thanks for watching

Thanks for the video wow the old school carbon pile tester with newer cars would you recommend testing the battery off the car don’t want to short a module
@electron-john10 ай бұрын
thanks for watching. yes, that is why we mentioned for newer cars better to use the autel style of tester

My AC delco AGM was weak from the day i bought my Chevy Cruze off the dealer lot in 2018 Never would hold a good charge so i just replaced it at 3.5 years an keep it as a back up. I bought a brand new AC Delco at a super good price online from Texas and its been doing great for 1.5 years now. I remember back in the 80s&90s AC Delco having cell issues quite often in rental cars that were less then a year old

When a new battery is fitted surely the battery sense circuit will report the state of the battery and report to charging system the amount of charge the battery requires and not overcharge it !
@electron-john8 ай бұрын
often with smart charging systems, while it may eventually correct itself, it has a tendency to overcharge immediately after battery replacement
