Why are you using channel locks in that tight place? Use a 1/2 wrench or socket.

We just completely replaced our fill and flush valves following these instructions because we had the tank leaking into the bowl. That didn't fix the issue -- the tank still leaks into the bowl. Help! What troubleshooting can we do to get this fixed?

Here are two solutions that might work. First check to make sure the refill tube is not shoved into the overflow pipe of your new flush valve. If it is remove it and use the clip that came with your fill valve kit and attach the clip to the flush valve and plug in the refill tube into the kit. The second solution is to check the chain on the flapper and tank lever, if it is too long then shorten it as it may be pulled under the flapper when it tries to close. Hey Fluidmaster: You don’t supply enough washers and nuts to attach the tank to the bowl properly. Shame on you. Not long ago, perhaps 5-7 years ago, you did supply enough nuts and washers to install the tank properly. So, my question is, why are you not supplying enough nuts and washers to attach the tank properly? The tank bolts should be tightened to the tank before installing the tank to the bowl. Your new way does not work and my tank is now leaking.

Some of our older kits do only come with 2 standard bolts and a standard toilet bowl gasket. However Fluidmaster has released new flush valve and Everything Kits that do include 3 bolts and specialized gaskets. For newer tanks we also make this kit for 3 inch toilets as well. That ticked me off as well. I had to cannibalize some washers and nuts from the valve assembly that was being replaced. The tank is still leaking anyway. Gonna have to take it apart AGAIN and tighten that big plastic nut some more...

There is no 2-1/2" diameter nut wrench in my kit, #507AK.

Thank you for your question. Ghost flushing or water leaking into the bowl after a new installation of a flush valve may not be the flapper. We suggest checking your refill tube position, if you have the refill tube shoved down or placed inside the overflow pipe pull it out and reattach to the overflow pipe using our refill clip. This will stop a siphon from occurring and stop the leak. Another area to check is the flush valve lock nut. You may need to tighten ½ turn beyond hand tight to stop the leak. @@FluidmasterInc : After my previous comment I saw your recomendation to the other person, it was the refill tube been too long inside the overflow pipe. I have been fighting with this and after so many parts changes your suggestion works.!!!!!!! Thanks. please include more hardware on your kits.
