being someone with almost flat feet, I always thought that those arched feet have been the must-have feet and the healthiest. amazed that you mention problems related to that.

Soooo nice to see a video about high arches made by someone who actually has high arches and understands the hardship! I was wondering how much your feet have changed since doing all of the exercises? As a woman, I would love to be able to wear high-heels sometimes but the met pain is way too intense. Hoping all these exercises will help. Thank you

Thank you for this video. This is the first video I have seen where the person has high arches and actually knows of the pain. I have had the worse pain in my feet for years when walking due to my high arches and no ones understands how debilitating it can be. I’m off overseas in 4.5 weeks for 4 weeks and have been so worried about walking distances. I will start these exercises and hope I may get some relief. Thank you 🙏

This is the best video I've seen about high arches, and it helps to hear it from someone who really knows how painful it can be. Can you please tell us how many and how often we need to do these stretches to get your results? And how long did it take you to heal your feet once you started doing these? I know everyone is different, but it would help to have some kind of goal in mind... thanks!

This is very good. The bit about squatting struck me because I have childhood memories of struggling with just that. I have high arches and am 68 and working on balance. Fortunately, I don't have the plantar problems but do have problems with supination particularly after peroneal tendon damage from a lower fibula fracture and plate - You have some helpful ideas I had not considered, like the rock walking (which I would modify at my age) I decided several months ago that lowering those arches, one of which is starting to "lock in place" has to be done. As we get older, the dynamic stretching becomes even MORE important because it is so easy to freeze up. Also the fat on the feat and hands starts to go away. Fortunately, we are making progress, and I have the help of excellent PT and a daughter who is a massage therapist who does medical work. She is doing a lot of work on the foot fascia which can act like a torniquet if not released. I still have to sand the callouses on the 1st and 5th metatarsal heads regularly but it is rewarding to see more flex in the arches as I push them. And no hammertoes. About 10 years ago a podiatrist tried to put me in a rigid orthotic and said I would need surgery in a year. I ran away as I could tell those things would cripple me. Thankfully, at least in Birkenstocks which are better than most shoes but still give too much support to the foot but they allowed the toes to spread. But warning, they can encourage hammertoes.. Most days I wear water shoes in the yard with no support to protect my soles and Altras for walking on concrete. The whole world wants to put you in arch supports which weaken the feet and I am so glad to see shoes coming out with a wide toe box. For the times we must wear shoes, I would love your recommendations and am going to scour your page.

Thank You. I'm doc too.. anestesiologist. High arches is my problem too. It was hard to discover it...because I have numb balls of my feet colleagues told it is probably kind of neuropathy....I spent 8 months to finally discover it is high arch problem. Discovery happened when I developed plantar fascitis....it leaded me to right diagnosis.. before neurologists, orthopedics didn't notice this problem. Thank You for great video. This issue isn't fatal but has really great impact on QoL...and everyday activity. I wonder how You treated Your plantar fascitis related to high arch...stay well , lot of health.

Hi Dr. Ryan. Thank you for this video. My daughter is a toe walker. I have tried physical therapy, chiropractor but nothing helped. Currently I try to roll her calves every day and stretch her ankles. Do you have any advice on what else can be done? I'm afraid if this doesn't get resolved she will have all the problems you mentioned in your video and then some. Thank you!!

Hi Marta, thank you for reaching out, and I'm glad you found the video helpful! I can understand your concern about your daughter's toe-walking, and I do believe our program can certainly help, especially if tight or shortened muscles are contributing to the issue. We focus on enhancing overall muscle balance and posture. As we work to align the body, it can lead to improved posture and balance, which may help with walking in a more balanced way. If you're interested, we offer a 7-day free trial of our program that you can check out to see if it might be a good fit for your daughter. Feel free to reach out if you have more questions or need further information!

Hi Marta, we consulted with Dr. Ryan on this, and he recommends an in-person physical therapist who can address any joint restrictions and guide your daughter in neuromuscular reeducation to normalize her gait pattern, with an emphasis on heel contact. I hope this is helpful!

Hi Dr. Ryan, great video! I also have high arches and a rigid knuckle (hammertoe) on the second toe only. A couple of years ago after wearing high heels for a prolonged period, that second toe went numb for three months. I got the sensation back after taking KCl and cilostazol for a couple of months. However, I feel that numbness in the second toe again whenever I'm on my toes for some time. So my question is could that be related to the nerve impingement somewhere in the ankle or foot and if that is the case how can I treat it?
@CoreBalance
@CoreBalance Жыл бұрын
Hi Eva, thank you for your comment! Numbness in the second toe, especially after wearing high heels and being on your toes, could be indicative of various issues such as nerve impingement, joint restrictions, or altered gait patterns. We consulted with Dr. Ryan on this, and he recommends an in-person physical therapist who can address any joint restrictions and also guide you in neuromuscular reeducation for normalizing your gait pattern. I hope this helps you! 😊

i don't know the name of the top bone that is curved on top of the foot (sorry, english is nt my first language). does that bone lower as you make your foot flatter? i have that same problem. i can't run because my calves start to hurt like hell after few meters. i walk a lot because of my job and i have severe overpronation. tests show 15 degrees and 18 degrees. i kill every shoe in 2 to 3 months. and because of high foot bone i have also problems finding a shoe that feels comfortable. i really need to make that arch more flat and lower the bone.

I thought that I had such a deformity, one day I felt unevenness when walking, I felt all the bumps (unpleasant sensation), the heel was very swollen (on palpation, like liquid or just trampling) and the arch rose up a little, but not much, I went to have an MRI examination, in conclusion they wrote synovitis of the entire ankle joint and tarsal joints, but about the bones they wrote everything was normal, nothing was displaced, there were no deformities, I went to the doctor, he then recommended doing a flfs examination of the size of both legs, in the end the conclusion was 8 cm shortening of the left leg, but the pelvis is not displaced in place, the doctor advised me to purchase individual orthopedic insoles, I’ll go soon, I even did electroneuromyography of my legs,to rule out neurological problems, in the end everything was normal, they told me it was an orthopedic problems

Hi Dr Peebles, I need your opinion. My left side SI joint is really bothering me. It’s funny, I can walk for 2 hours without any problems. But a couple hours later is when the pain kicks in. My doctor has recommended a cortisone injection to help calm it down, and physical therapy follow up. Is this a good plan?
@CoreBalance
@CoreBalance Жыл бұрын
Hi Leo, thank you for your question! Cortisone injections can provide short-term relief and are more of a temporary fix. In contrast, the CBT program offers a long-term solution to help stabilize and strengthen the SI joint and provide relief to the affected area. The program focuses on addressing weak muscles through targeted strength training exercises. This approach can help reduce tension and restore proper muscle function in the SI joint. The program is designed to be complementary to physical therapy and may further optimize a reduction in pain. It provides a long-term strategy for enhancing the strength and stability of the muscles around the SI joint, which can be very beneficial for your overall well-being. I'd also like to share a video Dr. Ryan put together on how to walk with SI joint pain that may help prevent pain after your walks. You can watch it here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/eZLIgJ2Hm6alnZI. If you have more questions or need further guidance, please feel free to ask. 😊
