Jackson Galaxy yaaay Jackson a new video. Thank you so so much for your videos and my cat from hell. I got my first cat a year ago at 8 weeks old i took her off the girl cus from 3/4 weeks old she was feeding the kittens and the 11 month old mother dog biscuits. Then i went over 1 night and my second kitten waz skin and bone and dehydrated and and thousands of fleas she was infested so i picked her up and never took her back. I say thank you so much cus without your amazing videos my girl would still be nearly ferral i didn't have a clue on how to gain her trust up and now she's my shadow and my mirror image. I learned what her jackpot treat was its wotsits (cheese puffs and any kind of cake) i love you and your guitar case of everything lol. Look forward to seeing more vids in the future. Much love from tilly mint and malia from the UK. I swear tilly loves your voice cus every time i put my cat from hell on she lies on my chest and watches it haha 💛💜💚

Jackson Galaxy thanx for posting this video this probably explains some of the destructive behavior in my kitten... lol she's a calico and she chewed through one of my PlayStation cords... I was upset about it but that's probably the reason why she did it... because I wasn't playing w her.

Cedric Ward is absolutely correct, and even normal popular brand dry cat food with protein not from meat may taste good to them but it's basically the cat equivalent of McDonald's or any fast food. I use Blue Wilderness where the protein is derived from meat. most important thing when checking ingredients is protein from meat sources, the first three ingredients are what makes up most of the food. A five pound bag costs me 30.00 dollars and lasts a month. well worth it as it affects their coat and other features in a positive way.

I have to pretend a bit too! He doesn't mind if he sees my holding the stick, but if he notices that I'm not focused on the toy (if I'm looking at him) he checks out like "dude, you're ruining it." So I'll have to pretend I'm also hunting the thing.

I play with my cat 30 mins in the morning before her breakfast then again 30-40 mins in the evening before her dinner. I make her chase, jump, seek and run - it has made a tremendous difference in her behaviour and she is so happy now and very well behaved. I say this considering that she was a very aggressive street cat that decided to adopt me one day and actually gave me no choice but to be her mom. Play time with her is so much fun and it’s amazing to see her doing gravity defying stunts!

I added a fixed cat play routine in my house and within 24 hours I noticed a HUGE change in both of my cats. I have a female and a male, litter mates and now 11 years old. They were fighting a lot lately and I didn't have a structured play time with them. Also the male tended to dominate any playtime I did give them. I'm on day 5 now and they are completely different cats. No fighting, they snuggle and groom each other at night, she is more engaged in playtime and he lets her have her turn as well without dominating all the time. I'm so grateful for these videos. I really didn't know what I was doing wrong, but now I realized it was the structure they were missing and consistency. Also the Hunt, Catch, Kill, Eat method has really helped in how I play with them. They really enjoy interactive play with me but also love it when I throw their dry food around. They hunt and catch it and eat! lol Just had to share. THANK YOU!! My cats thank you too. ;)

We have a Maine Coon kitten and he is starting to learn to fetch with a toy mouse. The mouse makes a rattling noise when shaken. Wherever he is in the house I pick up the mouse and shake it and he comes running. I play fetch with him by throwing the mouse down the entire length of our hallway, sometimes he brings it back, other times he runs past me and hides. Can do this for an hour, sometimes it’s enough to wear him out, other times he’ll get bored and we play with something else. All good fun and games.

Unfortunately last month one of our kitties suddenly became ill and passed away. I have been trying to find a way to make my remaining cat heal and reduce his stress and help him grieve. Playing with him everyday has helped him not only move his body (he's a bit over weight, now on diet food) but he's reduced his over grooming since his brother passed. We tried mice and balls but he never seemed interested. Then I got the feather toy. He will spin in circles trying to get it! Thank you very much. You are amazing and so helpful!!

So I decided to choose the most playful cat in the place when I adopted mine a few weeks ago.(not the only reason I liked her)They said she was more independent so would be a good one to adopt for a single cat home. I’m not regretting her at all, love her and wouldn’t trade her for anyone. I am hoping she calms down a little with age lol. She is constantly wanting to play. I play her with at least 1.5 hours a day broken up into three or four times. She always guilt trips me though once it’s over bringing the toy back and crying. Which I usually give in to.

My cat couldn’t care less about a “mouse” or “snake” and gets bored easily with the feather toys but absolutely ADORES the laser pointer, he’s incredibly smart and will pick it up the laser pointer and bring it to me like a dog with a bone in the morning when he’s bored. When he sees me pick it up he’ll make small meows until I turn it on. My older cats hate all toys but they love when we play with our hands, they have their claws but we trained them as young kittens not to use them by tapping their paws lightly anytime they stuck us with them and firmly said “no claws” (4-6weeks old when we got them, they were from my neighbor who’s cat had them outside then was hit by a car, the kittens were left to die essentially. The first one was 4 weeks when we got him, the mother was still alive but she actually was rejecting him for some reason. We’d been watch her and she wouldn’t touch him and stopped feeding him so after two days of that we stepped in and took him in and then we got his sister two weeks later when the mother passed away and she didn’t have anywhere else to go)

It took me years to learn how to do this right. I call it "one string puppeteering" because you're not just yanking a string, you are truly puppeteering. Only pull the string in such a way that it brings animation to the toy. You can make a mouse look like it was going one, way, then change it's mind and head another. Depending on the string you use ( sometimes I use an elastic cord ) you can twirl the cord in your fingers and make the mouse on the end barrel roll to give it sideways movement. Drag it by the bottom of a chair, then a twist to barrel-roll under the chair and hide. When your goal is to use one string to move the bird/mouse naturally, you've achieved play.
@spledydid759010 ай бұрын
I am so glad you made this description. I've become very discouraged during the process of trying to get my cat to play. He likes to play, and he wants to play, but it seems like no matter how I am moving or wiggling the toy we have (which is a stick with invisible string and a cloth mouse on the end) that he will get fixated but not chase much. He will watch it, jump 1 time, then just watch while I exhaust myself to get it to move in a way that entices him. It's just not the full body movement that Im looking for to get him happily tired. My partner uses this same stick and gets much more engagement from our cat, and its deeply frustrating. I decided I may just try using a different interactive toy, since my partner is quite tall and can maneuver this stick-string-mouse toy over and around furniture that I just am not tall enough to do in the same way. So I see Jackson has a stick with a feather. I see other youtuber cat owners using a stick with feathers, Im going to try getting one of those and see if that is any better.

He'll bring it to me, jumping on the bed with it in his mouth, this huge wand with elastic and toy dragging it all up onto my bed. Everything this guy is saying is spot on. My wife plays with our tortie , Tessa, but I really get into playing with her and kitty can tell the difference. She needs to use her hunting skills and when we play she definitely uses them. She loves her feather on a string but it’s funny, she won’t feel like she satisfactorily caught the toy until she’s really chased after it. Worked for it. She stalks it for 5 to 10 minutes, planes her attack, and then goes from there. It’s so neat to watch her process how her toys are going to move that it’s quite fascinating to see. I can look in her eyes and see her thinking about her plan of attack. There’s no doubt in my mind that our kitty loves both of us but she reacts to me in a completely different way than what she does with my wife. I’ve told my wife to really get down and get into playing with her but she just doesn’t do it. She loves cats but she has to be able to bring out their natural hunting skills. I honestly feel like I do and that’s why she comes to me when she wants to play. Forget 15-20 minutes a day worth of playtime; we usually play over 2 hours a day. At the end of the day I get my reward because she cuddles up next to me or on me and it’s sooo satisfying to hear her purr herself and me to sleep because I know she’s happy 😃

And soon after he became so sociable and I could pick this big boy up and he was all fluffpurrlove.

I love this! Every cat loves different toys, too! My boy’s favorite is anything with lights! Lasers, reflections, whatever. My girl LOVES shoelaces. Even still at like 13 years old I can get her to chase that thing for at least an hour. I always give up before she does. I also recently discovered that they both love tennis balls. So I guess mine belong to them, now.

I keep learning new things from you, JG. Like Boil/Simmer, and Be the Prey. I’ve been doing these with my fur baby for about a week now. I love watching him crouch down, studying the prey, the intense look in his eyes, then POUNCE! Or when he jumps up, twisting around, to catch the flying prey. It’s s win-win for both of us!

The toy you showed in the video is actually the first toy I could get one of my rescue cats to play with. She had been so sick and starving for so long, I don't think she had ever known what playing was. She showed no interest in any toys until I pulled the one with the feathers out. I'll never forget how excited I was 😊

My cat and I keep each other on our toes. She's got such high energy, but she's smart and well-behaved, so she knows to blast-out her energy with me during playtime. When she gets the zoomies, we do a whole course of mouse chase, laser chase, rugbaiting, and chasing. About 3x a day but never a day without. Looking at it, I think I keep her pretty fit.

This is one of the best advice you can get. I'm a new cat owner and did intensive research before buying a cat. My ankle is on the healing end of it breaking and I still do this. Making it go through tunnels and over furniture even hiding it sparks joy in my cat. He isn't food motivated though 😂 just want play time then cuddles. Though when you do this it becomes routine my cat definitely let's me know 3 times a day exactly same time when to play 😂 so cute!

My cat loves it when we play hide and seek. I hide behind the couch and peek out every so often until eventually he runs up to me and taps my leg to say “I found you”. We do this a couple times each day and he really seems to love it. When I’m too tired to do the movement then I bust out the feather on a string and have it do the hiding for me!

Mr Galaxy, Your videos have not only helped me understand my cat's language, but it helps my friends understand that cats are not dogs and they are a beautiful creature in their own way. My friends thought I was crazy when I said I wanted to walk my cat on a harness, and when I told them I am going to build a special fish tank designed for my cat to be able to have a sort of TV of her own.

I've recently started playing with my cats at least once a day for about 10-15 minutes. Thank you Cat Daddy for inspiring me to do so. The difference I've seen in about three weeks, yes I was a bad mama and only randomly playing before, it's been like night and day. The only problem left is finding toys my cats want to play with. The ribbon/laser pointer are tops so far, 50% of my cats don't like the feather duster...so I gotta find some more toys that they can truly enjoy together.

A playroom. Pick one or two cats at a time. Give them a play session till they're worn down. Then grab the other 2 and play with them in the play room. Once you get the initial storehouse of pent up energy out of them, you should be able to do a very short "wind down" play with them together. Then feed them all and watch them pass out.

when I got my new kitty I sewed her a little mouse out of an old sock and of all the toys she gotten since, that dinky little thing is still her favorite lol she'll just see it sitting across the room and pounce on it

Jackson, my cats love your wand- in particular the one with the feathers angled like propeller blades. Only issue is it breaks way too easily. How about the center be a small disc made of two parts with angled holes on the outside and a one way gear on the inside so when the disc is turned it would pull and lock any feathers inserted into the holes in place, and to replace them you'd just undo a screw at the end and the two discs would come apart. I think something like this would be really useful!

I have a Da Byrd toy and agree they are easily breakable. However my geather tip lasted almost a year of agressive play for a couple of reasons: 1. I taught my kitten to "give it". This is something my mom taught all our dogs, so she wouldn't have to fight to remove things from their mouth. I would present a low reward toy to my kitten and wait for him to grab it. Then I'd give the command "give it" at the same time as presenting a high reward treat. The kitten drops the toy , which i immediately remove, for the food treat. I then praise and pet the kitty, another rewar! . Then I present the toy again. Repeat the process multiple times then give it a rest. After the association is made between the command and the reward, you can up the ante with a more desirable toy, and train more, or up the ante with more action from the toy before asking to "give it". I've been able to retrieve a living bird from my cats mouth , with some resistance, with this command. The other tip is to PUT THE TOY AWAY. I've had the same half chewed feathers for almost two years because I wrap it up and hide it where they can't get it. Letting the cat run off and finish his kill is a waste of an $8 feather tip. I also present home made tips made of things I can let the cat destroy, like dried corn husks. It kinda mean to never let the cat keep it, and corn husk is much caper than Da Byrd refills. Also da Byrd sparkle tip is harder to destroy since it's already shreds of mylar and easy to slip out of their paws. HTH someone, snd have fun with your little monster!

Yay! You answered a question that I have been asking myself (am I playing with my cat correctly?). As a kitten I played with him for 15-30 min everyday and now that he is a year old it is 10-15 min. I take him all over the house and up and down his cat tree and around corners with the toy. It took me months until I really figured out what he likes.

I just wanted to say your videos and your show have helped me overcome my fear of cats. Thank you so much for the stuff. I now am a big cat lover and can’t wait to adopt my first Kitty. I have had a fear since I was around 3 years old because my Aunt and Uncles cat is more aggressive. I moved into an dorm apartment with someone who owned a cat. And that cat was the sweetest and cuddliest cat and if I never overcame my fear I wouldn’t have given her a chance. So thank you for educating the world

Retro Patronum my kitten and yorkie are best friends. My yorkie is obsessed with the laser, the kitten sits back and lets her play (the alternative being getting run over lol), then the yorkie lets HER have a turn. When I use the pointer, if the kitten "catches" it, I cover the end for a sec so she can believe she really caught it. Works!

My cat doesn't have much confidence. We try playing with her every day and she'll be up for the hunt but as soon as anyone new comes into the house she's straight under the bed again. When it's just us at home she's fine but she gets scared at the mere sight of anyone that isn't her immediate family

My young cat of 10 months old plays fetch. He loves to play with everything, but turns into a dog when I throw the ball. Brings it back to me every time, tail up in the air and a happy look on his face. The other two cats are watching him, but tend to play a little bit less/insecure since he got here.
