sd card works just fine in other devices. did all these steps... having the same problem on all four of my kiddos fire tablets... I just can't believe that all four of them have SD card slots that don't work. I bought the SD cards that Amazon recommended specifically for the tablets....

Make sure you dont have the charging cable in when you put the SD card in or it wont recognise it. Then go to storage and SD will be active and will ask you to format the card.

I had the same issue with my kids tab, though the tricky was to ‘locate’ your memory card thr’ your profile (parent profile), I couldn’t see the card using my kids profile, however once I open tablet using my profile>settings found it! I think this can be useful for parents like myself who logged our profiles in their tablets (for parental control).

I think I'm going through a different problem here. Do you know what to do if it says "Incompatible SD Card. The inserted microSD card may have been corrupt, unsupported file format or set up as internal storage for use with another fire tablet, If the card was set up as internal storage on a different device you may lose your data if you continue. To check the set up and formatting, insert the card in the original device and go to settings > storage to see if it is formatted as internal storage. You may continue to use this card in the original device. To use the card on this device, you can format the card. Formatting will erase all data on the microSD card, and may take a few minutes to complete". Options are cancel and format and erase. This is right after I power it up from the shutdown. I think the card is paired with another device because I tried putting the card in a separate device and it has most from the separate device and only a few from my device. What I'm trying to do is to get my lost videos back. I also notice that there are still a few videos left from the videos filmed from my tablet.

I know this video is a few years old, but was looking for some direction. I have a 2021 HD 10 Plus. I had it up last night. Put it on the charge before bed, then go up this morning and it wont recognize the SD card. Mine is step up as extended internal storage, so the tablet is useless until I get the SD card working or reformat it. If I put the card in my computer, it recognizes the card, but I have not been able to get the tablet to recognize the card. Removed and reinsert multiple times. I tried your suggestions of a hard restart, but still nothing. How would one get this serviced? Is it even worth it with what these things cost? I am trying to avoid reformatting the card, but may be my only option. And I would hate it if reformating it doesn't fix it, but servicing it would without reformatting.

I keep getting an error message that I need to reformat the card. I have tried your suggestions about 7 times, to no avail ;(. I think that all my games etc are gone. Great video though, it seemed to help others. Mine is just probably too far gone .

Hello Helping Hermit. My Fire 10 updated the other day, and now it tells me that the SD card that has been in the tablet for 2 years, is formatted to another Fire device. It tells me to place it back in that other device to continue using or to re-format to use in the current device. I have plugged the SD card into my laptop and while it is not recognized in My PC, the partition manager does see it as a healthy drive. This is a bummer because I have nearly 100GB of items on the SD card that I seemingly can't get to. Any other thoughts?

Mine has a glitch in the lock screen if there is a pass code. If pass code is enabled I get a SD error that goes away after unlocked. It only happens when system is turned off and back on again. If no pass code enabled I don't get the error at all.

I tried your ideas and it worked for a day. I called Amazon and they said my Lexar 128 GB Micro SD card was currupt and they would give me full credit if I returned it at no cost to me. I bought the card from them 3 months ago and they still sell them and they have a 4.7 star rating! I still wonder about the Amazon Fire 10HD (2021).

I have an issue where I get 2 errors on startup. The first says: Missing SD Card, the second says: Can't read SD Card. Those errors disappear after the tablet finishes loading like it detects the SD Card now but it won't download anything to the SD Card even though it's set as my internal storage. 😋 I'm using an 11th gen tablet, and these solutions didn't fix it for me unfortunately, and when I took it in for repairs they just gave it back saying there's nothing wrong with the device. 😂 I get the same issues with other SD Cards btw.

The problem is my SD card reads. I have 90 GB of free space but it won’t allow me to do anything because the goddamn 25 GB of internal storage is full and apparently nothing can work on an SD card not an app they want games I have 2 GB of stuff on the 25 GB internal and it’s full somehow And I cannot use the 64 GB card for the life of me. It’s only for special things I guess files but not apps even though I’ve formatted it as usable space and not storage for pictures or videos it is so frustrating. I wanna smash this thing both my kids tablets are the same wayif they are required only the internal storage for running apps why give me 25 GB of useless space that’s full even though nothing is on it.

I get the missing SD Card error on my son's new 11th gen tablet when it first starts but then it usually disappears after the tablet finishes loading. It's kind of weird. Your solution didn't fix it but at least his tablet is still detecting the card eventually.
