I am an very beginner indie dev making a cartoonish Shooter game and that smoothness value I personally always set to 0 making things shiny for me gives that "cheap realistic" style but for simple cartoonish style no smoothness works , might add some when I start playing with shading but great tutorial !! 🔥

Hi Bolobeefy, yea setting the smoothness to 0 is a great place to start. Shiny models can very quickly wash out the art within a game if a developer is not too careful. The more reflective a 3D model is in game, the less of the underlying texture color you’ll be able to see. It’s quite fascinating how making things shiny became something we all associate with looking “cheap”. Sometimes keeping it simple makes the world of difference for art directions.
