Good work, Steph! I put mic receivers directly into the xlr inputs of my bmpccs and don't have any problems. There you also have more options in the audio tab of the atem control. I had 4 mics on 2 cams and it worked like a charm.

Thanks for posting these very helpful videos. You deserve a much wider audience. I’ve just started my journey with the AMP. Currently I use a GH5 with a Rode NT1 passing through a Tascam DR60ii into the the mic in socket on the camera. Getting the levels right is tricky, and the sound quality isn’t as good as I hoped it would be but there are no sync issues. I have considered using my Sennheiser G3 system directly into the mic socket, but I guess that the sound quality won’t be as good as the Rode and as it’s an omni mic, it will pick up the noise from my PC. It’s one less interface though which keeps it simple. The standard that pros like you set is very high but it’s what the rest of should aspire to. It’s hard enough thinking about content TBH without having to learn how to use all the tech!
@StephLeeTech4 жыл бұрын
Hi TheHipSurgeon! Thanks for the long comments and taking time to watch my videos! Really appreciate the feedback :) the GH5 + Rode NT1 is a potent combi that can bring the best out of your livestream setup. I'm not too concerned about the G3 having a poor quality but more towards the wireless part. It may potentially bring in some other issues (e.g. interference or latency due to it being wireless). If you have to use the G3 I would recommend tagging it to the GH5 as an AFV instead, to reduce the potential hiccups. Keep practising and you will master the AMP very shortly!
@Lathamhipsurgery4 жыл бұрын
Steph Lee Films thanks for that Steph. I tried the Rode through my Focusrite Solo into the GH5 mic socket. Took some time to get the camera/gain/output levels sorted but the results were worth it.

@@Lathamhipsurgery Great that it's working fine now! I didn't mention the adding of a preamp to the GH5 for the external mics in the video or it will be too much info :p but yes that will greatly improve the sound quality as well as removing any possibility of audio/video latency

I help stream my church’s service on Sundays. We use the ATEM Mini Extreme Pro, 1 black magic camera, 1 Sony A6500, 2 HDMI matrixes, and then feed our sound board through an audio interface, then into the computer we use to stream via a usb-c cable. The sound quality is great, but we recently had the audio video lag when we started using the audio interface setup.
@StephLeeTechКүн бұрын
Yes, an audio interface can contribute to audio latency, as the signal needs to travel through its internal components for analog-to-digital conversion and back, adding a small delay to the audio processing, which can become noticeable when recording or live-streaming in real-time

If it is better to pack the audio with the video and then that's good to know. Cameras typically have a mini input like the ATEM. Some have XLR. So, perhaps the best thing to do would me going to the camera. I don't see any reason to even use the audio inputs on the ATEM

Great video Mr. Lee. I’m curious at why my lips aren’t lining up with my video. Using the mini pro and looking through hdmi preview my lips are off. I swear this problem happened after I ran the update to 8.2.3. (I have since updated to 8.4) I have the Bmpc and an IPhone. To be clear when I look at the camera and use then preview my lips are off. I’m baffled and have spent all morning trouble shooting. Thanks again I’m going to subscribe and watch more of your videos.

Any ideas on how I can fix the audio vs video lag on iPhone as that is my 2nd camera in my setup while Zv1 is main camera so wouldn’t want to adjust anything that throws the Zv1 off. Thank you!

thanks for the video, its really help me for more understanding about the problem. but the "delay" on the mixer its should be different kind of "delay" what you really need to solve this problem. your mixer delay is a "effect", mostly use for music instrument like guitar to make it sound more natural. because guitar if directly go in to mixer the sound is very "stiff". for the delay you need is signal delay, which normally we use for audio alignment. just like concert, the filed is huge, and we need to delay some long distance positional speaker to sync with the front stage speaker, or else you will hear double sound,which people call it "echo". i'm not sure i am totally right.but since you try it. its should be work. cheers

Thanks for the feedback Carter! I just tested it again and you might be right! I have posted an updated comment and pinned it, what we should be looking at is the lip-sync corrector that we can get on Amazon. That will definitely fix the audio delay.

I have a very very little delay on the audio coming from 2 HDMI. I use a Sony 6600 and Sony A73 with two ntg4+ plugged in. The effect is that I notice a little distortion on the program file. I think is less than a frame. Is it possible that two hdmi has delay reciprocally? Or maybe the two has different sampling rate?
@StephLeeTech4 жыл бұрын
Hi Paolo yes that is possible. You can try with different HDMI cables to see if there is still delay. One way to workaround this is to use the frame delay option on the AMP. Hope that helps!

Steph Lee Films thank you! I think the problem are the camera it selves,and also is that the frame delay option is available only for mic 1 and mic 2

Hello there. great video content. One problem I have is that the audio is late compared to the video. The audio is process trough and external computer before gets to the ATEM minio pro. So, there is some way to delay de Video?
@StephLeeTech3 жыл бұрын
Hi Elplak one very common problem is the internet speed at the venue. I have realised that is the main source of the latency issues

Even with applying the maximum 8 frame delay, my audio and video are still not in sync. I am inputing audio from a Rode board into the 3.5 mm ATEM mini, and camera goes into HDMI. Thoughts? By the way I recorded 8 podcasts in Singapore last December and would have loved to contracted you to do them!
@StephLeeTech4 жыл бұрын
Hi Vincent yes I realised that as well, for some SERIOUS delays, 8 frames is just not enough. Did you try the methods I suggested? After doing so many livestreams I realised the most important factor is the reliability of the internet connection. So far all my best streams have come from very good internet connection. Do hook me up when you drop by Singapore (when we have finally defeated the COVID virus!)

Steph, love the channel. This video just answered toe of my issues. My last issue is sound clipping when I use mic 1. Any recommendations? Should I use a mixer since the mic lines are unbalanced?
@StephLeeTech4 жыл бұрын
Hi Patrick thanks for taking time to watch our videos, appreciate the time and comments. If you face audio clipping issues you can try to use the Atem Software Control under the Audio (beside the Media and Camera button) and decrease the dB for MIC1. As you can see I'm not really a fan of using an external mixer to fix the problems, the console is really good enough for small setups and pretty comprehensive!
@PatrickPromo4 жыл бұрын
@@StephLeeTech Thank you so much. I've tried that, but think it's a combination of issues that's probably not the ATEMs fault. I probably need to fix the sound coming to the ATEM before going into the Mic input. But another question....can we effectively use 2 ATEM mini pros by using the HDMI out from one to one of the 4 HDMI in's of another?
@StephLeeTech4 жыл бұрын

Our current problem is with an ATEM Mini, not the pro. Is the video lags behind audio by several seconds. It improves when moving to a computer with move RAM. Will the Pro, with the built in encoder, solve this issue?
@StephLeeTech4 жыл бұрын
Hi Tom the software update should give u an option to dial in the delay, I think it should work for all 3 models of the AMP, not specifically just the Pro models only. In my experience the lag is not really a problem of the switcher but a combination of many possible reasons like internet connection speed, cable quality etc

Thanks for the comments and keep them coming in! One big feedback I got so far was that the audio mixer delay does not seem to work. I have done abit more research on that and found a better equipment that definitely will work! It's called a Lip Sync Corrector that delays your audio by measurements of ms (milliseconds). One such example I found on Amazon was this: www.amazon.com/Sescom-V-SYNC-Lip-Sync-Corrector-Sescom/dp/B00C0NTHOU/ref=sr_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=Lip+Sync+Corrector&qid=1590577515&sr=8-1 Again, my channel wouldn't be what it is without such great feedback from you guys, appreciate your time!!!

Are you able to do a video on how to use this device I notice the atem mini delay gets worse the longer you stream with it
@StephLeeTech4 жыл бұрын
@@markhepi7791 Hi Mark there are a lot of theories on this, and ways to reduce the sync lag but truth be told, with all the livestreams that I have done, it really does start to get worse as your stream runs longer. The simple explanation behind this is whenever there are dropped packets (video or audio), the cache tries to fill it up and then tries to match up and each time it happens, milliseconds of video/audio gets "un-synced", and over the course of an hour or more, the more frequent it happens the longer the sync lag. Unfortunately you cannot reboot your stream (to reset the sync lag) as it is running live but the best you can do is to get a good internet connection, preferably via Lan wired connection and of course a fast internet provider.
@markhepi77914 жыл бұрын
Steph Lee Films thanks mate! Appreciate the reply. I did a livestream today, a basketball game at the end ( around 2 hrs) we did live interviews with a rode wireless go and the audio delay was noticeable. However I was on wireless with a decent upload sped but I have notice wired streams to have less delay. I’ll have to do a thorough test with both wifi and Ethernet after a a hour stream. Do you think the Behringer shark FBQ 100 feedback destroyer will work to help remove the delay? Thank you again
@StephLeeTech4 жыл бұрын
@@markhepi7791 Hi Mark! Wired lines always tend to have less delays for wireless due to a smoother transmission of data packets but from my experience as I mentioned earlier, the longer your stream the more significant the sync lags will appear as the delays are compounded. Any device that allows you to correct the delays will be good to fix this.
@markhepi77914 жыл бұрын
Steph Lee Films hey Steph I did a test to see if the atem mini was really the culprit and see if there was a sync problem over time. After 1hr 22mins of streaming and doing a clap test periodically through out the stream I notice in the fb stream health there was a sudden drop in mbs and audio bit rate. I did the clap test and my video was head of the sound rather than the sound delayed. So I decided to unplug the atem mini power socket to reset while still keeping the stream going through Vmix, I powered up the atem again and reconnected the camera input to vmix the sound and video was perfectly in sync. I’m not 100% sure but other YTubers have notice a audio/video drift over time. I’ll do another test to see if it’s consistent. Thanks again!
