Seeing this more and more that when an integration moves to UI the config options that were in .yaml are being reduced / removed and it starts to render some of the integrations non-effective and limiting. Your example of loved one in places around the world is just 1 of the examples.

Yeah, hoping GDACS integration picks up more of the features that it's had available, though I didn't have it on my system already. As an example, I have a recreation space about 75 miles away. I already have a 'sensor' for Aurora to advise me if the conditions are ight for observing aurora there, but it would be good to know if there are sever weather, or wildfire issues in the area as well. Ah well. Time will tell. My main issue right now is that everythign I've got on the integrated ESPHome has pretty much died (to the point I can't reflash the ESP's so that's a problem) I've got a couple of sensors that predate the built in integration, and those so far are working, but it basicly means all my bluetooth extension sensor are down. Yep, time to clean up those entities, burn in new ESP's, deploy them, and turn the failed components into parts. paperweights probably, boat anchors for model boats?.) I do wish that someone had figured out how to get the ESPHome Integration to pick up the existing ESPHome sensor configuration, perhaps by asking for it when it determined that Home Assist knew about the devices. Ah well.

I absolutely hate when Home Assistant updates keep breaking my setup. The last update broke my APC UPS sensors that were using python command sensors.

Totally agree on that! Looks like HA needs a good systems architect and/or at least someone who has finisched systems engineering!

Yeah, I think they are trying to minimize it. But I think the biggest issue is upstream changes. Since they are trying to integrate with lots of 3rd party things and some of them not "officially" upstream changes can borked things. And when it got started I dont think it getting this big was planned for. So the tech debt is causing some issues as they migrate to more sustainable patterns.
