I just bought a new eu7000is last weekend and it has a floating neutral. It works great with my house but if I need to charge my wife’s electric car I had to make a bounded neutral plug and plug into one of the outlets to make it work.

@SouthFlaDiver - I just spent the last 36 hours without power, trying to get an EB5000i to work with my interlock. Kept popping the GFIC. After much research on my phone, I figured out what was causing it, but not how to fix the issue. THANKS for showing how it's done!

Thank you that’s what I had problem with

Well I have the same generador and there is no problem with it. This generator was made for commercial use only “as stated in the manual”. You need to modify the harness and not use the neutral wire, after that the generator will perform with no issues. It is important to leave that green cable where it is otherwise you will damage the inverter (it happened to me)

Hope this help for someone else 😁

The wire I disconnected is white not green.

Are you sure that was the cause? Because they make plenty of floating neutral inverter generators.

I’m going to just put a switch on my generator so I can bond or unbond the neutral and ground as needed. They really should just come with a switch like that in the first place.

Does this ungrounding make it unsafe in any way?
@wcjcnc2 жыл бұрын
No, it makes it more safe. In an electrical system on a house, the only place the neutral and ground should be bonded ,”connected “ is in the first main panel they meet in. Everywhere down the line after that, the ground and neutral should be separate. This video shows how a generator is suppose to be when you have it connected to a house. I also recommend driving a ground rod into the ground and having the generator ground connected to it so it’s grounded to earth.

@@wcjcnc so I switched it from bonded to floating neutral but still won’t run my furnace
@wcjcnc2 жыл бұрын
@@TXRoeJogan You may have other wiring problems. Need to test the furnace and see how many amps it’s pulling
@TXRoeJogan2 жыл бұрын
@@wcjcnc When it was a bonded neutral the exhaust fan in the flame would actually come on in as soon as the supply fan started it would trip the GFCI. Now the flame one even ignite or the exhaust fan won’t come on, do you think I should try grounding the generator outside to earth ground? Hey thank you for your time and inside I really appreciate it
@wcjcnc2 жыл бұрын
@@TXRoeJogan If the neutral and ground are separate on the generator and it’s putting out enough power to run everything you have turned on, it should work. There has to be a problem with the furnace or the generator. So do you have this generator connected to the house breaker panel or, are you just using extension chords?

What size is your A/C?

Dqalex 3 ton American Standard 17 seer with 2 speed compressor, Honda ran for about 8.5 hours on a tank fuel with eco switch off during hurricane Irma. These Honda's are underrated

That's great to know. I have a EU7000 and I was wondering if it would start one of my 3.5 ton A/C's I keep waiting for Honda to release the Parallel kit. All they keep saying is its in the works. its been in the works for years now. I'm going to give it a try next Week and see if it starts it. Thank you for getting back to me.

Nobody talks about this. Idk why. Seems like 2nd biggest thing you would tell someone when backfeeding a house.

Anyone know how to do this on the EB10000???
@patriot-dv6dh4 жыл бұрын
I think I figured out how to do this with the EB10000. Remove the alternator cover and disconnect the neutral (white) from the frame. I’m not an electrician, but I play an engineer at work:) I checked with a multimeter and this did float the neutral... if anyone disagrees let me know.

Just bought a eb10000.. guys at honda said they have a white jumper from white wire to a yellow with green strip.. disconnect it and it floats neutral.. still waiting to connect to home to get in to it!

Now you have a floating neutral . How was your connection to the house panel ? Is the ground amd neutral bonded together at the panel ?
@SouthFlaDiver5 жыл бұрын
I ran 4 #8 wires thru the outside wall into a generator plug/box. Ground and neutral are separate at the panel. In the future, (next hurricane watch) I'll redo the wires from the panel too directly to the ac condenser. I'm losing amps going thru two breakers (generator breaker and ac breaker). I'm hoping this way the compressor will start while the generator is on eco mode
@duvielhernandez28875 жыл бұрын
SouthFlaDiver ok your ground and neutral are separated at the main panel or at the subpanel ? Because my neutral and ground are bonded together at the main panel and separated at the subpanel thats why i was asking you how you connected it because my generator comes from factory with a floating neutral
