Much better looking than the patch. A bit messy, but would prefer this product. Great job!!👍🌟

I would have used a much smaller portion of bondo for the first coat because if you wait 15 minutes for the wall patch to dry all the bondo in the plastic container will be hard and wasted but bondo is a good idea

Yes, for sure. You’re 100% correct. I learned that the hard way. But these are just demonstration videos so I was happy how it turned out. Next time I could’ve mixed a much much smaller batch 👍🏼😊

Good information. The paint was close enough that most people just glancing at the house wouldn't notice anyways. No one inspects a house closely anyways.

Hey I agree 100%. Thanks for watching

How well does Bondo hold up in hi heat sun locations? Generally vinyl siding expands and contracts - the concern is about the Bond hole edges cracking.
@HomeRapidRepair18 күн бұрын
It’s been used on auto body work for years and they get hot and expand some too. Although vinyl is legendary for how much it moves. So far this Repair is still looking perfect from a cosmic point of view. I’m in a cold climate, but sometimes we do get 90°F here on a rare hot summer day.

Do yourself a favor and mix the bondo on a scrap piece of cardboard box. Much easier to mix the bondo and hardener together thoroughly...and see they're one color. And mix a much smaller amount for a small hole.

You’re 100% right on. Thank you for both tips 👍🏼🛠️🛠️

I'm an autobody shop owner and use body filler (bondo) all the time. Depending on the temp you're working in use more or less hardener. The more hardener you use the quicker it will harden, so be careful not to add too much or it will harden up too quickly and be worthless. Do not pour the hardener into the can because if you put too much in, you'll waste the can and it's not cheap. Use a narrow scraper and scoop out the amount you want onto something smooth (I use a flat plastic lid like a coffee can lid) and then I toss the lid when I'm done. Use a an old screwdriver to stir it up on that lid and keep stirring until the whole batch on the lid is all the same color. (You can always use a hammer to pound off the putty from you screwdriver or you can even use a popsicle stick or long nail to do the same). And as for the fumes? Not a big deal if done in your garage our outside someplace..

Thank you so much for sharing your experience with my viewers. I appreciate it. That’s some good tips for sure. I was shocked at how hot the product got too… I imagine some chemical thermal reaction.

Where are you located? Need some one to replace some Hardy Boards, not Vinyl?😅

Great idea but using almost a full can of Bondo for a small hole seems wasteful and expensive.

Great point! I enjoy making demonstration videos…so I’m ok with it. Yes a homeowner would be more careful with the project. This size could fill many many holes 😊🏠

You mixed up way way too much Bondo for that small hole. A golfball size would have been plenty. You could have etched in the fake grain when it was still pliable. Just before Bondo sets hard it goes into a rubbery state, which can be cut with a knife - this is the best time to knock off any high spots.

Thank you for the good points. I appreciate it. Yes, I just make demonstration videos so I could’ve saved a lot of money on the product. I definitely could’ve been more careful. Thank you so much for watching 👍🏼🛠️🏠
