I had a little hard ridge along the inside gum-line of my lower wisdom teeth. I didn't know what it was, and my annual dental checkup wasn't for another 7 months. I wondered if it was a plaque or tartar. Anyway, I started having a couple of Xylitol mints after every meal or beverage, and after 4.5 months, I realised that the ridge had somehow gone, and the gum line felt like the rest of my mouth. I don't know if it dissolved or broke away, but I'll mention it to my dentist when I see him in January. Otherwise, I never chew gum. I have a couple of heavily filled back teeth, and it seems to jar them and make them uncomfortable for a couple of days, so mints are better for me.

Whats your take on black seed oil being used as a mouthwash, since it wipes out bad bacteria and enhances the good bacteria, thanks?

The NS and TQ possess antiplaque activity, thus, they can help in preventing both caries and periodontal diseases

Black seed oil, derived from the seeds of the Nigella sativa plant, has been used for centuries in traditional medicine. Recent research has explored its potential benefits for oral health, particularly its antibacterial properties. Potential Benefits: Antibacterial Activity: Studies suggest that black seed oil, specifically its active compound thymoquinone, may inhibit the growth of various oral bacteria, including those associated with gum disease (like Porphyromonas gingivalis) and cavities (like Streptococcus mutans). Anti-inflammatory Effects: Some research indicates that black seed oil may possess anti-inflammatory properties, which could be beneficial for reducing inflammation associated with gum disease. Improved Oral Health: While more research is needed, some studies suggest that using black seed oil as a mouthwash or in oral rinses might contribute to improved oral health by reducing plaque formation, gingivitis, and bad breath. Considerations: Limited Clinical Evidence: While promising, most research on black seed oil and oral health is still in its early stages. More robust clinical trials are needed to confirm its effectiveness and safety. Potential Side Effects: Some people may experience side effects from using black seed oil, such as allergic reactions (skin rash, itching, difficulty breathing), stomach upset, or dizziness. Interactions with Medications: Black seed oil may interact with certain medications, such as blood thinners and immunosuppressants. Not a Substitute for Regular Oral Hygiene: Even if black seed oil shows promise, it should not be considered a substitute for regular brushing, flossing, and professional dental checkups. How to Use (If Considering): Consult with a Dentist: Before using black seed oil as a mouthwash, it's crucial to consult with a dentist or healthcare professional. They can assess your individual needs and provide personalized guidance. Use as Directed: If recommended, follow the dentist's instructions carefully regarding the concentration and duration of use. Monitor for Side Effects: Pay close attention for any potential side effects and discontinue use if any occur. Always consult with a qualified healthcare professional for any health concerns or before making any decisions regarding your health or treatment.

Some dentists oppose hydroxyapetite for same reason this one opposes fluoride bandaid.
@EvolveDentalHealing
@EvolveDentalHealing Ай бұрын
it is less of band-aid as HAP actually goes into the tooth and repairs it with the materials that a tooth is made from. Fluoride is not a constituent of tooth enamel. Hydroxyapatite is a naturally occurring mineral that is the main component of tooth enamel. Toothpaste containing hydroxyapatite works by binding to the damaged enamel surface and filling in the porous surface irregularities to restore the surface integrity aka remineralisation

@@EvolveDentalHealingI notice when using a hydroxapitate toothpaste a kind of covering covers my teeth, almost shield looking. Is this normal and doing some kind of good work?

Nice! Only two to three minutes! I'll go back to coconut oil, and I still have some. Hehe. 10-20 or so minutes is intense, and exhausting. Lol.

Hi there, I need some help. I have a dark green, almost black, mold like substance growing on my teeth in dotted patches. I have an excellent diet and oral hygiene and at 40 I have never had a filling. My dentist said it was from green smoothies and I needed to brush twice a day. I told him I do brush twice a day but this stuff doesn't come off with regular brushing. He looked at me like I was lying. I do drink green smoothies though. My dentist manages to get most of it off but it slowly comes back. Any help would be appreciated Cheers

I have a tooth that over time has a discoloration where I believe a small gap has formed. Dentists have looked at it and said I didn't need to do anything (??) but it is clearly discolored a little as if decay is getting in there. Wondering if this is an area that can be remineralized? I use Bioniq because I had a feeling it might be possible. Maybe my strategy is slightly floored.

Many thanks for the video, Dr. Rachel. Could you please tell me, is it only xylitol that could accelerate the release of mercury from metallic amalgam fillings, or might other non-nutritive sugar alcohols like sorbitol and maltitol perhaps do the same also? I tried to research this on the Internet but was unsuccessful.
@EvolveDentalHealing
@EvolveDentalHealing Ай бұрын
Hi, it's not the xylitol that does it but the stimulation from chewing - this is why I don't advise gum for people with amalgam fillings. Xylitol mints will be fine

@@EvolveDentalHealing Thank you so much Dr. Rachel, I never knew that -- if I had, I would have been more careful of gum. I'm glad the problem is not with the sweetener itself, because it is helpful against oral bacteria in the short term. However, it's not so good for the bacteria in my gut so I would still try to avoid it or at least limit my consumption. I was worried that the sweetener could have some kind of chemical effect on metallic fillings, since I suspect that some substances might be detrimental to dental work -- I suspect that fresh raw ginger (it's very tasty together with grated apple) could be damaging to the glue used to secure a dental crown. That's different from the sugar alcohols, however.
