Knocking the wheel while tightening is a genius move. Filing that one away for next time. OMG people, if you're worried about buggering a brake line out bush, take spares with you. Should be taking spares anyway, and brake lines arent as big as the other spare parts yall be willing to carry.

Hey I don't know if you boys have already done an episode about all 3 of you boys and your back grounds ...we know Dan's what about the other 2 of you...maybe I missed that episode...I'm in my 40s and I'm generally blown away of all you boys skill set....watching channels like this with young talent really makes me regret my choices of just driving trucks... I have to research and research to do my own mechanics if it's more then a general service 😂

Keep up this stuff. Even go into the more complicated stuff. As a fitter myself it's always nice to see how other people do things and sometimes you pick up new tricks. A tip from me is to lube the seals (not the shaft where they run) the seal will simply wipe the grease off the shaft.

Great break down of the job. I've done brakes and bearings before. But following instructions is easy, knowing what you're doing and why is for more beneficial. Thanks for the explanation as well as explaining some of your decision processes, they are sometimes more important.

another cool video, when packing wheel bearings, I tend to put a larger lump of grease in my palm then use the bearing race to drag bits at a time to the heel of my palm to push it through the bearing, thanks for the cool tips and tricks, I'm thinking about upgrading my wheel bearing lock nuts now ;)

I went for braided brake lines for the same reasons mentioned in this video. If you ever did break one and need a bush fix, the diff centre studs are the same thread as all of the patrol brake line junctions, and you can use one to block them off in a pinch (no flares obviously). I just put a spare nut on one of the studs so I can wind it out with the double nut method

Yup the wheel knocking tip is gold. Plus carrying smallish light weight spares is far better than faffing around with some dodgy arse repair, plus I’d like to know how many people have actually torn off/damaged a brake line whilst out wheeling. Yeh maybe if your doing comp level stuff but your average Joe having a day out or touring isn’t going to be doing that kind of damage. Flame suit on.

I love this series gotta keep it up dan absolute gun on the tools i work on my own cars a fair bit and i even learnt a new way to tension wheel bearing but for the average joe that doesn’t work on there car they could get a manual watch this and have a fair clue on whats going on great job boys

Dan is the Man. Question, I have a d40 nav with a very rattling clutch. Just been put in by local mechanic work shop. Doesn't rattle when clutch pedal is depressed though. And it feels like it is starting to slip already. What do I need to do to fix it please. Cheers Jono.

Next time you take your front hubs apart check for the spring and ball bearing in inside the actuator. The ball bearing engages with a detent inside the hub body at lock and unlock. Nissan stopped installing them about mid nineties, likely a financially driven decision. If not installed, your hubs will unlock on heavily corrugated roads. Thanks for a great video.
@stco242610 ай бұрын
Excellent. The Nissan method for incremental adjustment on the front hubs seems much better than the two hex rings on my Toyota. Is that applicable or transferable to 90s Toyotas? I liked to learn about the preload routine you used. Makes loads of sense rather than the book figures and interesting to see this ‘without brake’ fitted. I suppose it’s not that difficult to set this when rebuilding the front axle. On the ‘strength ring’, does this transfer the failure to the splines or diff rather than the somewhat cheaper hub? Great to cover the proportioning valve. It’s so often overlooked. Also, great to think about the performance in terms of temps, too. A hand on the hub is a great way to compare lefts and rights, too. Loads of great content here that was well presented. Thanks!!

You could have done a gq twin piston caliper upgrade on it they fit under 15s rims and gu ones will fit under 15s to expect 4.8 ones then you need 16s but if you do gu ones you need to change the spindle and wheel hub as there different the gu ones are bigger than gq
