I've had a Coverlay dash cover (ABS) on my 85 Mercedes 380se for about 11 years. When I received it, I put it over the old dash and it was perfect fit so I didn't glue it. It just lays there and you'd never know it was a cover..Great way to go - a new dash for a 126 MZB is about $3000 inc labor..

Hi. Great video thanks. I already tried using sticky dash fix on my dash and it did not come out very well. Do you happen to know if anyone has attempted to install one of these covers directly on top of the sticky dash finish or do I need to remove it with paint thinner or mineral spirits?

This is what we did with our Lexus gx. I just worry about the airbag flap on the passenger side. Seems dangerous to cover that with a large plastic cover.

Yeah and it looks like shit. They should of made a complete dash zero airbag hole the airbag would go through that also just like it would the dash itself that is also covered so I don’t see why it’s there to begin with.

I am concerned as well. I envision the entire cover blowing up. I just don't have thousands to replace the dashboard. I have an 08 Lexus Rx350 w/140K miles. Still looks good. Love this vehicle.

what's your opinion of the cover a year later? Was the silicone that came with the cover strong enough to hold? Or would you recommend a third party product that has stronger adhesion?

Mind hasn't budged at all but I did see another comment about theirs not lasting. I live in the heat of SC so I thought that might be an issue. My best guess is that if it doesn't hold you probably need to clean the dashboard better before using the silicone. With all the Armor All and other dash stuff people use that is probably why some don't end up holding.

I don't think so. These add thickness to your dash. If you did that to a door it probably wouldn't close anymore.

Good video. I installed one in my Lexus yesterday following instructions. Had also watched some you tube videos. Used weights,Cardboard and painters tape. Allowed to sit for eight hours and when I removed everything there were several places that were not adhered. Besides near the door I had put cardboard there. Near the windshield I had put cardboard there. Do you think I need to take it off and try different silicone adhesive? Thank you

Good question. Mine is attached rock solid so it's hard to say. Can you tell in the areas where it didn't adhere well if there was silicone in there? The good thing is that it's fairly easy to remove and try again but I would want to see what happened the first time before I tried again.

Does this pose an airbag safety risk? Would the plastic become a projectile when they deploy?

Not really. There is already a plastic or some other cover over your airbag. They are designed so that hopefully the cover is expelled in a different direction, usually upward, than the direction the airbag deploys.

@@ClintHolland the silicone that came with it. Exactly as on instruction. Cleaned both surfaces using windex. A few days in and it just doesn't stick

@@ClintHolland the dash side. The area by the window is farily snug, but the region by the speakers isn't flush. There's a gap there. As the cover runs down the front of the dash, both sides have come off. At a loss here.

@@TheBlooRayChannel I would try it again and this time clean the dash with something to make sure all the Armor All and just general dirt is removed. I would start with rubbing alcohol but if that doesn't work, maybe even Acetone.

I wish they would make it without that air bag hole. Like the airbag would have to go through the regular dash anyways and it would go straight through that also. So why cut a hole in it and make it look like that. I don’t like how the manufacturer did that.
