This video alone makes you the best powerlifting channel on youtube I got this from a badly translated yuri belkin video and i tought it to quite a lot of people -people whos hip hurt dont have pain anymore -people with balance problems dont have these problems anymore …… Best sumo cue ever

This is exactly what's been plaguing my deadlift for well over a year now, I pull conventional and I've unfortunately taught my body to race for hip lockout as soon as the bar passes my knees which leads to a super awkward and slow lockout and almost a strongman hitching deadlift. It's really holding me back and just making deadlifts flat out miserable when I know I'm destined for great, crispy pulls. Thanks for the video

pretty sure this will fix my lockout issues. up until now I've been blaming my large quads for my lockout (which is definitely a factor), but all the times my lockouts have been solid, even with heavier loads, I noticed that my knees locked a lot sooner. Thanks for yet another great video!

Great video, David. Can you share any more details about how you program the knee height rack pull holds? frequency, intensity, etc.

In my “straps” video I talk about it more. But it’s really what I said there. Just a few really hard sets of 5-10 sec holds.

I have a question about cues that involve increasing external hip rotation on the sumo. I have been recently trying a much more externally rotated stance, probably a bit more than the thumbnail but whenever I it on my singles I lose about 20lbs with noticeably less pop off the floor versus if my feet are straight with just a little external rotation. So if all else is equal, should increased external rotation always be better once your form with it is perfected or is there a trade off and some would be better of with less external rotation?

My sumo complete guide talks about this some, but no, more external rotation is not better for everyone.

Is there a better way to feel out what you described in the sumo deadlift video to find the tipping point i cant really figure out what it means to “push my knees out just enough to the point my quads are turned on”

I have a few videos planned that will probably overlap that concept a lot. I think the big deal there is that it isn’t meant to be a very specific spot, but more so just a feeling to prevent you from feeling squatty or tight. We want to feel relaxed and have space to rotate and squatting too low can restrict that. But yea. I have some other videos that might intersect coming.

It's pretty easy to tell when you're below the tipping point from a video of yourself in my experience. I used to be a lot squattier in my setup and my hips would shoot up when I initiated the pull off the floor, so what I did was set up with my legs intentionally a lot straighter and widened my stance since my previous stance kinda forced me to squat down more to feel like I was close to the bar. Lighter weights felt EXTREMELY light and heavy weights were certainly a lot smoother off the floor. I hope this helped lol.

So i have a question related to knees before hips, and i have implemented this for about the last 3 months and it put almost 20 kilos on my DL. Ive noticed my off the floor has been super hard, but as soon as it crosses the knees, i can snap and lock it out. Any advice for that? or maybe a video incoming on it?

I’m not sure I understand the problem here. I talked specifically about this in this video and I’m also not sure what needs fixing in what you said. Why do you think there is a problem if your deadlift has gone up 20kgs in three months?

@@BrazosValleyStrength sorry for not explaining myself correctly. I meant to say, since using this que, by DL has exploded yes. But now the weakness went from lockout to off the floor. Any tips you have to have off the floor part more powerful?
