Thank you so much for this content. It’s so interesting how much of the pain & rehab process is mental… just like so much else in life! Having this new framework is so helpful.

Very good information on this video. It's tough to find people with some serious experience pulling huge numbers. Regardless sumo or conventional, 900lb is 900lb. I do believe sumo is not quite as impressive overall, but it's like saying a guy with a 400lb bench could only bench 275 if he didn't bounce it. The amount of strength to break the bar off the ground and the sticking point there can be even harder. Leverages are different for everyone obviously, but I remember pulling 510lb on a trap bar with lower handles and how deep I felt like I had to dig getting it moving. The movement pattern of sumo and trap bars seem very similar to me. I also have not given much effort to the sumo or trap bar, so keep that in mind my barbell deadlift is probably stronger but just because of training it so much more. I wonder if my sumo could get a lot stronger, one thing I know is training it won't make it weaker. The weakest lifts I have are the ones I don't train for, LOL.

Doing the overly back dominant thing when I was young resulted in such severe cramps I had to quit more than once.

I don't know if you have done but a prevention video would be good. Discussing generally things like load/fatigue management, stretching / warmup for each lift (w/ common injury points), recovery techniques, and more.

I squat in high top converse, I’ve always squatted in those and I’m not sure wheater to get low or high top avancus. I think the lows look cooler but I’m nervous they’ll mess with my ankle. Any suggestions?

Get the high top imo.

I think more important than the rehab guide, is a guide on how to approach training so that these injuries never happen in the first place (specifically the chronic overuse injuries like tendinopathies). I guess over time one learns their body and tolerance to volume/intensity/certain movement patterns well enough, but at least speaking for myself, sometimes stuff is going well and then out of nowhere some aches appear and it takes months to get rid of...

So basically the smart money would be on if you could only have one belt the SBD 10 mm size large for about 70% of the population.

10 RPE singles makes my body kind of shiver in fear. Why not doing them at 90% instead kind of in the ballpark of 7-8RPE? Thats not RPE 10 and you surely can do them in a repeating style. Say 5 singles and then volume work. Couple of higher rep sets

Lol, only can bench 440 yet think he's an expert and knows about biomechanics for the bench. Retracting your shoulder blades neck and down and keeping that way through the lift is so much better. Also improving your shoulder angle and getting the lats to push gets your bench higher and avoid injuries. Come back when you have benched for over 30 years and learned a few things.

If you have managed to get your lats to push like you said, you may be some sort of mutant and would love to see how that works for you! Us human beings don’t have that ability like you.

The way you recommend pressing is with retracted and depressed scapula just because you don’t think about it doesn’t mean you’re not doing it so I don’t really see your point here

I think chest stretching is important in conjunction with benching heavier weight, but it isn’t really productive to force your shoulders back the ENTIRE movement. The point seems to be more to have your shoulders retracted during the negative part of the lift so that when you start pressing you are in a stable position.

Bulldog grip is probably partly responsible for the "bend the bar" que, in an attempt to undo some of the internal rotation. I don't like the grip nor the que but a lot of technique stuff boils down to personal preference anyways.
