FIXED First Look REVEALED! (Sony Pictures Animation R-Rated Movie)

Sony Pictures Animation and Genndy Tartakovsky are teaming up once again for FIXED, a 2D movie that's rated R for the first time in the company's history. Thanks to an early screening for Sony Pictures Animation's FIXED, we get a glimpse at the dog, and how the style may look!
This isn't Genndy Tartakovsky's first time working at Sony Pictures Animation. He was actually one of the key figures behind their Hotel Transylvania franchise! However, FIXED is taking a very different approach from that in more ways than one. Will it be worth watching?

Gotta hand it to Sony Pictures. They seem to be the only animation studio that wants to stray from the usual formula. I am a fan of adult animation and it’s rare to see an adult animated movie from big studios. I personally would like to see an 2d R-rated animated film based on the graphic novel/musical Fun Home. I already have ideas for it. The animation of Alison working on the graphic novel would be realistic rotoscoping and the scenes where she’s looking back on her past would be styled after the comic art. It would definitely have music from the musical plus (hopefully) a couple of original songs.

I kind of hate how most "Adult" media ends up being more juvenile than most stuff aimed at kids. It's not that I don't think that type of R/TV-MA rated stuff shouldn't exist, but it feels like that's all it's become, and that shouldn't be all it is. I want something Adult with more nuance and emotion. I want less Sausage Party's and more Ghost in the Shell's.

I'm going around mentioning this a lot, but literally Japan treats animation, even geared towards adults, much better. I totally agree. I don't get this tendency of having nothing but animated comedies that just try to prove how raunchy they can be. It's like an edgy teenager trying to be funny. Not saying we can't have MA/R rated movies/shows, but it feels like that's all the U.S. has ever produced in the realm of adult-oriented animation. Ironically, those limitations on lower ratings seem to force the writers to actually have to write well to entertain, and writing goes out the window once they think they have no more limits with R and MA stuff.

This happens in all movies, not just cartoons. Many movies are created using the same plots as others. They make a few changes such as songs, settings and sometimes color or sex of the characters, but the plot is still the same or very similar.

I do fear this takes the sausage party ‘overly edge’ type of presentation. I think the movie being crude would at least give everyone the idea that isn’t not for kids, but it would also make it unattractive to a lot of people. I'm an animator so let me clear something up for you. In this day and age if it's "2D" it's referring to 2D CG so it's still 2 dimensional but Done with 2D CG character rigs and models. (So you don't have to draw the characters evertyime.) Hand drawn animation which is what it's referred to as now a days is an extremely rare medium and is way more expensive than CG

It’s incredibly well done and quite surreal how they take anthropomorphic animals and make it very adult themed. But yes, when it comes to films I can only think of three theatrical films in the past 23 years that were rated R. 1999’s South Park movie, 2001’s Cowboy Bebop movie, and 2016’s Sausage Party

Remember that accident where one cinema accidentally showed the red band trailer for Sausage Party before Finding Dory? When I saw Chicken Run, a film rated U in my country, at the cinema back in the day, they showed the 12 trailer for X-Men before the film! That was most likely an accident. It wasn’t like when 2 years prior, I saw a trailer for If Only before either Small Soldiers, Antz or Mousehunt, where they made it clear that it was “a PG trailer advertising a 15 film”, the 12 rated trailer for X-Men was shown before the U rated Chicken Run! 2 years later, I saw Stuart Little 2 at a different cinema, and without prior warning, they showed the trailer for Eight Legged Freaks before the main feature! They clearly didn’t think about arachnophobics, but another cinema, where I saw Scooby Doo that same summer, did! They had a warning on the wall saying that the trailer for Eight Legged Freaks would be shown before Scooby Doo, and even pointed out that those with arachnophobia may want to avert they eyes during said trailer!

Same here Barely got any laughs out of that film. Felt like it was crude and vulgar just for the sake of it. Completely lacked any sense of cleverness or wit. If you want to see adult animation done right, check out the 1999 South Park movie. Yes it is extremely vulgar and crass, but has much more wit, cleverness, and satire than Sausage Party. Granted there have been recent great adult animated series such as Bojack Horseman, Beastars, and Tuca & Bertie that do get a bit risqué and vulgar but don’t go overboard IMO while still being able to tell great stories
