This is great. Fixed rack is very useful technic in VCV, because with all this enormous collection of modules you often just stare at screen and don't know where to start, kinda like blank page syndrome for artists. Big thanks for recreating this real modular beast, Omri, you are the best

It’s even more interesting revisiting this video now that I’m in month four of my hardware journey. I never really paid that much attention to the hardware side of things until this year, when I started researching my first rack but it became quickly apparent that Make Noise kit is something special! Having watched lots of vids now from the Make Noise team (mainly Walker’s excellent offerings), I would give anything for a Black & Gold Shared System. Maths was the very first module I bought in September, and I’ve since got an STO and last week a René MK1. The René is an incredible piece of kit and even though it doesn’t have a s many bells & whistles as the newer version, it can be picked up for a good deal (I paid £200) and you can actually find one. I intend to slowly build up a shared system and, of course, next on the list is Morphagene! Cheers for everything you do man 👍

This is *so* great, Omri! I'm just getting acquainted with a new 0-Coast and already fantasizing about something... *more.* This will keep my jets cooled and me at realistic velocity. A fixed setup is something that should be done more: it's part of the mentality and psychology of modular. The whole notion of designing ones own fixed setup is a skill in itself. Make Noise is a very creative place to begin. Thanks very much.

I'm a VCVR noob and am digging into old Omri videos. I'm a noise musician so this fixed rack caught my eye. I installed all the needed modules for the fixed rack. It loads fine. I hooked audio up to my minilab through ASIO, as I always do. I can't get examples to run by clicking the right Rampage trigger button. It's been a year since this was posted--could it be a new bug? HELP! :)

I'm not so sure what it can be... I downloaded the patches and everything works as expected. Did you open the VCV2 files?

@@dougsha No worries :) Did you download the patch files from the description? There are two versions there. The ones for the old VCV, which I'm using in this video, and the updated ones for VCV 2.
@mpingo912 жыл бұрын
These patches don't open in the VCV Rack 2. Is there some way to do it (I dunno, editing something?) or one have to build the rack manually adding module after module?
@OmriCohen-Music2 жыл бұрын
I just tested it, and it loaded in VCV 2. There are 2 missing modules but I updated the patches and re-uploaded them so you can download the zip file again, and it should work :)

I feel a little lossed with the interactions between blackholes and the random voltages, are the random voltages driving black holes sequence and using that sequence data on the rise cv? I love that patch but I want to really have it sink in!

Brilliant! I just finished (for the most part) building the 0-Coast, Subharmonicon, and TB303 from your other videos into one rack, the results are phenomenal; but I’m struggling building a sequenceable drum section, I’m curious if you have any videos or thoughts in general on the best modules for predictable, patterned drums. I keep gravitating to permutations or some other random generators, but it’s just not providing the stability I would like from the drums. I’d appreciate any advice or videos you could point me to. Thanks Omri!
@mpingo913 жыл бұрын
If random is not stabile enough maybe try chaos? :)

@@notaboutit3565 yeah, +1 for Topograph. It's a clone of Grids by Mutable. Hook up a kick, snare, and hat module.. and adjust the knobs to taste. I like using Plaits and Peaks as drum voices. Vult Trummor is heavy, Hora has nice drums, and NYSTHI QuadSimpler you can load up 3 or 4 samples and get a similar effect to Erica SampleDrum. Have fun!

Very nice, Omri. One thought: wouldn't the Bogaudio PGMR be an even better substitute for Pressure Points?
@OmriCohen-Music3 жыл бұрын
Thanks! And I'm not so sure about the PGMR. You can use it as well but I found that the CV-Pad is more visual, and you can set it to output specific notes. You can also set it to have 16 pads for one output instead of 4 outputs of 4 steps. the PGMR will not output gates also when selecting a step. It will either open a gate or output a trigger.

Yes, this is nice. And what a good reminder to look past the esoteric surface of the Geodesics (which I like, but.) - the Blackholes is super useful! Anyways, here's a (first?) drone-y, ambient take on this: kzbin.info/www/bejne/ame8qWiMbZKUfcU

Black holes is maybe the simplest geodesics module to learn since it's roughly just a bunch of VCAs. I mean, they respond to negative voltage, so VC polarizers. Then it's got the mix outputs, which is super handy here for a stereo mixer.
