FIXED! The 7 Year 700R4 Tranny LEAK

I fixed that leak. For some reason it's leaking again. I think that it being fastened with one bolt instead of two, one on each opposite side , doesn't let it sit flush.

I think that is a turbo 350 kickdown cable, It has a O ring gasket. It looks like someone left the old O ring gasket on it and put the 700r4 boot in the hole.And that is your leak.

The older ones didn't use an o-ring. This is a 66-72 TH350 kickdown cable that uses a top hat style seal. Unfortunately, he has a top hat seal for some other application. The seal for his cable is less than $3 from ATP.

Hey bud did you have to drain the fluid again to replace that seal? I’m so glad you did this video. I just replaced the pan gasket on my 700R4 & yep, still freaking leaking. 😡😡😡

never use rtv all over your oil pan gasket thats your issue put the gasket with no rtv and bolt it down the right way to torque specs ans it shouldnt leak

I have the same issue lmao took me about an hour to find that same leak. Was making me go crazy.

Had the same issue multiple times with plastic housing detent cable....i changed to a long- aluminum housing detent cable with o-ring instead of the rubber wide gasket that never seals good with plastic that gets hot warps and leaks. Plastic sucks...aluminum with o-ring is best.

I’m having a mystery leak on my 700R4. Very glad you did this video! I’m betting this will be my problem which manifested post TV cable replacement. With the tranny in place it’s a real bitch to get to 😂

i'D LOVE TO KNOW HOW Transmission SHOPS FIND LEAKs.....There are just so many places for leaks on a Transmission!!!....I had two different auto shops try to find the leak on my Jeep....But I think they didnt take the time to look at all possibilities!! They didnt fix it! NOW though its going to a shop that works on Transmissions only!!! 👍 I didnt know thats what it would take until I found out most regular auto mechanic shops are a waste of money and time! They dont know enough about transmissions! 🤢

I’m dealing with mine leaking in my CJ7 now for years… finally sick of it, and gonna find it. Did yours end up being the TV cable as well? Or was it the pan seal?

first video i seen on youtube i have the same problem also leaking mine is not flush to the trans. plus i have a issue with the trans taking longer to shift into 2nd so i need to fix that also. thanks for video.

RTV is not good for transmissions.
