Thanks for the video! My M50-C1 quit and exhibits the exact same pattern you highlighted. I reached out the eBay seller you mentioned to inquire if they will perform a repair service on the Main Board.

Which one is the circuit board????” You clearly explained all of that throughout the video. lol. I thought it was helpful, but I’m not helpless. Most of these commenters have no business repairing their own tv, especially one this complex.

Ps if you are having issues with this tv it’s probably the main board.. you can gamble and get a used $40 board that “came from a tv with a broken screen” but that’s just their way of selling you a broken board and not being responsible. The real functioning boards will cost around $130.. there are some services that will “repair your board” but they just use an expensive heat gun to “reflow” the solder points. You can try the heat gun technique at home before you throw the tv away.

@@Flm-y8e The heat gun technique worked for me. Got one of these for free 5 months ago, blasted the main board's GPU with a heat gun for 15 minutes, and it has worked great ever since. A real shame for these TVs to go to waste, but not worth spending $130 for a new board when a comparable model can be purchased brand new for $230.

I'm having the same problem more or less. The power light comes on and then fades away after I plug it in and hit the power button. Then, if I repeatedly press the power button it sometimes comes back on and blinks once then goes dead. No multiple blinks. The TV did this one month out of warranty and it's been sitting in my basement for a few years but I'm determined to fix it. Thank you SO much for this video, hopefully a simple main board replacement will help and I will definitely check out that website you mentioned.

@@YuDaMan OK. I ordered the main board from the same Ebay seller you recommended. It shipped from California to the East coast in 2 days, which is nice. I switched out the board and my TV came back to life without any issues. Why didn't I do this 3 years ago? My M50 died like 2 or 3 weeks after the 1 year warranty ended. I did some research and it seems the whole M series had spotty quality issues with the solder on the main board CPU. A lot of PS3 consoles and LG TVs had the same problem. You can use a heat gun to perhaps "melt" the solder back which works for a lot of people, but I'm glad I ordered a whole new board. Much less of a hassle.

@@gkcook81 I have an LG tv and determined it had bad main chip solder joints (BGA), I got this Vizio for free, power board was bad, no standby voltage, got a new one for $20, now I have main board red/blue power on lights, indicator goes bright then dim, stays on, but.... no sound, no backlight, no image that I can find. Seems the bad solder monkey got me on both TVs. I get no BL-on signal to the power board from the main board, its sits near zero then goes to ~ 200 mv after start up. I suspected bad solder joints on this one too, now I'm pretty sure, not 100% but I feel better my suspicions were at least somewhat confirmed.

I'm in the process of taking one of these apart, I can look for the part number for you. Which board are you referring to? The main one (with all the HDMI/usb ports), the middle green, or the orange power supply board?

My sister bought 2 Visio 43” Flat screens and they both had the same problem, I was checking to see if there was a way to get them going but I don’t know what parts I need or how much they cost...... I guess I won’t be buying VIZIO. Thanks for posting this.

I'm not getting either of the two LEDs on the Main board working, but the back lights come on and the front Power LED comes on. When I check voltages at the connectors on the power supply board they all look good except for the ones labeled 12 Volts are 19 Volts.which I read in another forum is okay for standby mode. So it appears to be the main board is bad.

sometimes the ebay sellers are experts and can help you. Just be sure to buy from those who accept returns and pay with paypal. Paypal has a process to reimburse you for return shipping charges. Also beware that some seller who will take parts back do so because they really don't know if the part is good or bad. YOU become the tester and if it doesn't work, you have some delay and frustration to deal with. On the other hand, buy both parts but make sure you have enough time to return the one that doesn't work if it turns out to be just one bad board. I'd appreciate a LIKE and a SUBSCRIBE. THANKS!!!

What will happen if you get a power board for a VIZIO M50-C1 but the part you ordered has a different part number on the back of the tv then the original?

I would ask the seller to confirm the board is the the correct replacement if the numbers are different. Or log into encompass.com and put in your model number to see the correct replacement board part number. The number on the back of the TV is different from the number on what?

I had the same exact issue and repaired it by reflowing the solder over the GPU - basically i heated the board with a heat gun on the rear for about 5 min and the back light came on - GPU issue.

Worked for me as well! I actually had to reheat it a couple times. The first few times I wasn't heating it up long enough and was using "low". The last pass, I heated it up for 6 minutes on high with my heat gun. I saw some smoke which worried me but I think that was the solder melting a little. Powered right up and working great now! Hope it will last!

I can’t seem to find the main board online anywhere. Atleast not one that matches the #’s on mine. Is that an issue even if the ones I find came out of an M50-C1 ?

ideally they need to match. If you want to try, just make sure you buy from a seller who allows returns. @@YuDaMan thanks for the reply. Unfortunately the replacements on those sites are out of stock. I took the main board off and on the back side there seems to be a lot of dirty build up in many areas. Do you think a good cleaning will fix the issue or is it a bigger problem than that ?

@@mikehamel6074 Use the numbers off those sites and check for a board on ebay. Can't hurt to use some alcohol and clean it up but unlikely that will do it ... but you never know.

Vizio M43-C1, bad PSU. no standby 3.3V, new board on, I got purple light on the main, indicator light goes on then dim, all seems like it should work but...no sound, no backlight no image, IOWs NOTHING grr, all the voltages look good, LED board has 25 volts coming in, however the BL-on pin on the PSU never goes goes to 3.3, it measured 200 mv when on. I jumped 3.3 volts to it, no diff. More checking tomorrow.

@@bigrnasty5856 Very possible you got a dud, check all the SMPS voltages and assure those are good, then assume you got a bad main board. I have not replaced my main board yet.

I don’t think main board is a good description. I could call the brown PCB the main board since that’s where the power cord plugs into. I could call the board with all the ports the main board. What’s the main board you’re talking about please?

To much time on the red and blue lights, just check if your getting a picture. No all M50-C1 have those lights. Have same problem but my is with the t-con cable running to lcd panel.

Just search for MAIN board for your TV which was mentioned in the written video description. Lots of variation in pricing depending on availability and type of seller. If you buy on ebay, make sure they allow returns or use PayPal to pay and if you return an item, PayPal will normally reimburse you for return shipping if you go thru the proper steps. I paid $38 for boards that did not work and had to be returned and $79 for a board that finally worked. Some sellers are making you their tester. Every board sold can't possibly come from "working tv with damaged screen". I'd appreciate a LIKE and a SUBSCRIBE. THANKS.
