We are no longer together I caught her talking to some guy she met at her job and when questioned what's going on her response is why u looking at my phone I'm not your property or ur not my dad. So now she's with some married guy and she claims his wife is ok with it.....I just laughed and threw the engagement ring at her telling her to have a good life Sadly we have a kid together. And she told me if I leave then my son is dead to me. But I couldn't take it anymore without physically wanting to kill her. So I walked away. This happened yesterday. 10 years of being yelled at and made fun of being talked down to and name called. Everybody thinks I'm the aggressor cause of my time of voice and history I had behind behind me. She told me at first that she was the victim of abuse with her ex so I swore I wouldn't be that. I held my end up but she did it to me. I should have left a long time ago and I did but to only return over and over. This time I'm done with her

Is the 40% statistic based on men who report it? Because if so, then the number is probably a lot higher, as men are a lot less likely to report abuse, for fear of ridicule, and because they are more likely to be the ones arrested, even if they were the victims, as the law usually believes women over men in these issues.

Where did you get the idea that cops/courts believe women over men on these issues? The exact opposite is usually found: "police were also more legalistic in the application of the statute to both female victims and female suspects. " from: www.tandfonline.com/doi/abs/10.1080/15564880600798681
@jesipohl67175 жыл бұрын
More legalistic means adhering harshly to the law without considering extra-legal factors. Laws put the burden of evidence on the victim in most cases as such this means female victims are more likely to be left in the lurch whereas female perps are more likely to be arrested. Actually, there are plenty of articles about men killing women abusers and getting off on self-defense, but when women in similar situations do the same they end up in jail: www.penalreform.org/resource/women-who-kill-in-response-to-domestic-violence/

For years I said I could not understand why a woman would stay in an abusive relationship. I couldn't wrap my head around how they would not only profess their love for their abuser but would find excuses for their abuser's behavior even going so far as to blaming themselves. I never understood this behavior until I found myself doing these exact same things. I feel totally helpless because I have no one to talk to. I don't feel comfortable opening up to anyone I know. I have no friends of my own. All of friends were her friends first. I feel humiliated that I am actually afraid to stand up for myself. I can't leave because she controls all of the money. I don't want to be a burden on anyone. My family member have their own problem. Edit: Some of my views have changed since I made this comment 3 years ago, primarily the not calling myself a feminist thing. I'm leaving this comment up for posterity, but my current beliefs are in the replies. I told my best friend that I did not consider myself a feminist, and that I thought men's rights are becoming more of an issue in the US than women's rights. In response, I got into a mostly one sided argument where she chewed me about women's rights, as well as everything that feminism stood for. She said that feminism was about equality, and that the people that made me turn away from the movement were a minority. She said that once she was catcalled on the street, and that it made her fear for her life... I wanted to bang my head on the wall. The discrimination that men are facing socially and legally is getting crazy, and hardly anyone seems to care. Men are receiving almost no support when they are abused, male rape victims are paying child support... and she is upset because she was catcalled and overreacted so much as to fear for her life...

Thank you for sharing this video. There are so many things we need to change about the way we look at domestic violence, especially in regards to the discriminatory policies, and how alcohol is associated. On one hand we say learned behaviors or patriarchal view (feminist) is the cause of violence, but alcohol is only an excuse. I just wrote a self-published Book "Domestic Violence, The Forbidden Truth and released it on Amazon. I am trying to encourage everyone to share this book with as many people as possible. I take a hard look at feminist, societal beliefs, religion, causes of domestic violence, advocates, and especially discrimination against men. The book also asks the question, is alcohol a cause of domestic violence, or is it still just an excuse that exacerbates an already tainted person? Please, I encourage everyone to at least read the ebook. It is available now, but at the end of the month will be available for 99 cents for a short time.

Because anything exposing misandry especially when said acts of misandry are by women, the subject is immediately glossed over because in first world societies like U.S., U.K., Canada, etc., the narrative is heterosexual men are inherently "evil", "abusive", "homophobic", "sexual predators" that can't be trusted. Meanwhile, all of the female(women) sexual predators and the women that are abusive to their husbands or children are COMPLETELY ignored by mainstream society. 🙄

I think we're all missing the point on both sides. Domestic violence isn't a Sexist thing. It's a form of abuse on any Male, Female, Child or anyone involved in that household.
