Got to have vacuum. Thought I could go gravity on the 5K Coleman with the 10 horse I/C flathead but had to hook the vacuum gas pump back up. Needs the extra pressure because there's not enough fall from the tank to carb to work right. Good deal on the gasket! A+PLUS and Happy Weekend! And I always went with a good plug too.
@HomeGaragechannel3 ай бұрын
thank you for sharing your experience with the fuel system. I thought a regular gravity feed would have been enough too.
@lewiemcneely91433 ай бұрын
@@HomeGaragechannel Just wasn't enough fall. What is relitive pressure, gain 1/2 (close) pound per foot of elevation, gain going down, loose going up? Then you have to count in friction loss, hose diameter , coupling size, leingth and odds and ends. I was a driver and pump operator at our VFD for a while. All those classes.....

@@HomeGaragechannel I think it's an 11 inch water column. Seems like grevity pulls 14 pounds. Propane regulators let through an 11 inch water column I think. A1/2 inch of pressure with water at the bottom of a foot high glass tube. Been a LONG time, Pal.

Wow, how many of these Husqvarna 125B blowers have you fixed? I have seen your videos and could swear it's like the 3rd video I have seen on here. Good job on saving this one, as I probably would have never been able to guess that was the problem the whole time!

I've fixed a lot over the last several years. But as I right now, I think I've fixed 3 or 4 with a couple more waiting. I have not produced the videos for the ones I've fixed either.

Another great informative video. And to answer your question…Yes I made a classic error when selling a mower I found on the curb. One thing I neglected to check cost me a lot of time remededing with the buyer. Needless to say I did remedy it but I felt terrible for my error. Live and learn. Thank you for sharing this video

I made a mistake of not connecting the throttle cable once. Went to rev up the mower engine, & it ran at idle, regardless of what I did with the throttle lever. I soon realised what was wrong, & fixed it.

The only time I really change the carburetor is when it's a lost cause in rebuilding and just end up finding similar because they don't make one for your machine.

Hey bro what's up? It's interesting to see how something as simple as the wrong gasket caused problems for this machine. My question to you here is if that was the new carburetor or was it the old one you reinstalled since you needed to adjust it in the end.
@HomeGaragechannel3 ай бұрын
you always ask the right questions. I actually instead the old carb but with a new metering diaphragm.

I sure have! I worked on my Uncle's Stihl FS-36 trimmer. If you've ever worked on one of those things, you know how terrible they're put together. I got the carb rebuilt after cleaning, and I immediately knew what i'd done wrong... I put the metering diaphragm on first then the gasket. It starts on full choke. But immediately dies out. I knew what i did, because i had bumbled around with the parts while rebuilding it. I still have that trimmer because he bought a new one, and i still haven't fixed it, bc I don't want to deal with that engine at all! LOL Great repair IHG!

I can easily see how a regular home owner would miss the gasket issue. They likely grabbed the one that came with the new carb, and tossed it onto the studs. Luckily, an easy item to correct even if you didn't have the right one on hand already. I've had to always do some pretty large adjustments on the aftermarket carbs on the Husqvarna machines. I'm not sure why those seem to always come more out of adjustment than the ones for other brands I work on. Do you notice the same thing?
@HomeGaragechannel3 ай бұрын
hit or miss, some aftermarkets are spot on, while others needed a bit more adjustment.

I tried to hone a decent sized scratch out of my dads Honda GX35 engine on his Honda brush cutter because I was hoping new piston rings would fix the problem,it was burning oil. I learned don't bother with them , either replace the cylinder, piston and rings or buy a new engine because on most part it stalled like that leaf blower did in the video. I had it running with a new spark plug which kept getting fouled up once every 15 minutes, I was going to buy a new cylinder kit for it anyway. In the end I bought him a brand new Chinese clone Honda GX35 engine for fathers day which is still running great,I still have the old engine which I plan to rebuild with a new cylinder kit, it's just that $125 AUD including postage and handling within Australia was a great deal despite having to reuse the original carburettor to get it to run right because the carburettor which came with the engine kept flooding the engine no matter how much I adjusted the low speed mixture adjustment screw. It's a Walbro WYL 4 stroke emissions carburettor which doesn't have a provision for high speed mixture adjustment !

I'm recently picked up a Poulan PBV 200 LE. I cleaned the carb and got it running. The carb was in relatively good shape internally, and the diaphragms didn't look terrible. The filter was broken off in the tank, so I replaced the fuel lines, filter, and primer bulb. It is hard to start, but will eventually crank up and run. It will not run at all on the highest speed setting. It will run fine on the lower settings for a couple of minutes, and then it dies. It doesn't really maintain a consistent engine speed. I did some carb adjustments, and it did make a difference, but I will be the first to admit that I don't have much experience making adjustments on this type of carb. What do you think I should attack first? Obviously I don't want to spend any more money on it than necessary due to the low margins on it.
@HomeGaragechannelАй бұрын
I completely understand, but with your limit on money in place that only leaves you with time to invest into it. I'd clean the carb again, except this time try taking out the fuel adjustment screws and cleaning the opening there. I would also soak the metering diaphragm for a day or two, and then try starting it again. Also did you inspect the spark arrestor screen and the exhaust port for carbon build up?
@jesterr7133Ай бұрын
@@HomeGaragechannel Yes. I did check those. The previous owner deleted the spark arrestor, and the exhaust port is spotless. There was virtually no buildup. I didn't mess with the adjustment screws when I was cleaning it, so I'll give that a shot. Thanks

I've had no luck with Champion spark plugs that's including the ones that go in your car too a porcelain can't hold the Heat burn out real quick mechanic get me that that wasn't true and I brought back a whole set of plugs from being put in my station wagon he goes I'm as dumb as a box of rocks but it happened and I had the same problem with the lawn mower I put that champion plug in there the lawn mower would run a little bit and then die and it wouldn't start up until the lawn mower was cooled off Autolite is my plug my dad was a mechanic for 40 years and he wouldn't even touch those same way about Quaker State oil he won't even put it on his wheelbarrow it would it would break down and burn up in the top of the motor we would do cams and lifters and you could literally take a shovel and scoop that burnt oil out of the top of motor the oil breaks down from the Heat anyways thank you for the video
