If you paint the trailer try using a mini foam roller. Really fast and you don’t overspray everything you don’t want paint on. A couple of thin coats. Rustoleum works great

Thats what i used on the expanded metal! Then a brush on the rest that i couldn't get.

Moral of the story is, don’t overload your trailer, or it will bend! He’s not a fast trailer fixer, not a slow trailer fixer, he’s a half-fast trailer fixer! Clean your steel before welding, and if you are going to go through all this work, spend a little bit more time, sandblast, or wire wheel the rest of the rust, then get some rust-oleum rattle cans and paint the whole thing, your ideas are sound, just need a little more follow through. 👌👍👍👍👍👍

Was originally going to restore the entire trailer but time got in the way. Main focus is to not overload it and i think the welds will be okay even if i didn't clean the steel.

@@KenSlaton They may hold, but let me ask you is it worth hurting yourself, or someone else if they don’t, not to mention if you are hauling equipment, the cost of replacement, like I said, your ideas are sound, you are obviously not a lazy person, a little time spent on prep, can save you a world of problems in the long run, and a lot of money, plus may shield you from lawsuits in the event of an accident, people today are not looking to say don’t worry I understand, it’s more like how much can I wring out of this poor soul. I am a retired business owner, I learned the hard way what motivates a lot of people looking for a quick buck. Just a word to the wise, coulda woulda shoulda isn’t fun.

Next time put some more practice; before you put on those welds! You should always clean the rust off; before you weld! You have alot beebees there.

Black is ground in automotive electronics. Red is hot(usually), and orange is ignition power.

Of course I realized that after the initial installation. I’m used to house wire with black and red both being hot.

So now go back and cut it all out and clean all the steel in the weld areas and weld it again. I commend your drive. But welding dirty steel makes weak welds and makes that trailer dangerous out on the road. But for just starting not bad. Watch videos to help teach better welding skills and remember practice practice practice

Hi i hope you put 1 inch by 3 inch square rectangular 1/4 inch wall ribs for the deck bed.

I used 3” C-Channel that was 3/16” thick for the ribs and for the long piece that runs the length of the trailer
