In the long awaited sequel to my video dismantling the top end of an Alloytec engine, I guide you through the actual fix and the reassembly of the engine of my Holden Adventra.

Awesome videos Castle Bravo. Very generous with your knowledge. Its very fortunate for me that I found your video as I am about to undertake exactly the same job on my 2006 Rodeo ie coils, spark plugs, PCV mod and rocker cover gaskets. I now have your video to walk me through it! Heres cheers

Thank you. You’ve given me confidence to do it myself. Very thorough and informative.

29:00 if anyone is here using a torque wrench for the first time and perhaps brought a new one down at the local supercheap make sure to test your setting on something else first. Eg.. set to 12Nm as said but go try it on something that should already be torqued way past 12Nm that way you know its working how you expect - there would be nothing worse than over torquing one of these bolts (or worse going past that point) and working out later you had the setting wrong/learning incorrectly as the length on these torque wrenches are often decent to apply a substantial amount of force easily without even realising when dealing in the 10-30Nm ranges.

Another great video mate! Worked on engines a lot in your time? Detailed video is great we might need to do this ourselves at somepoint.

4th year apprentice about to get qualified and start my own business. I did this ages ago but then procrastinated for a year and didn’t get the video up but I do hope that my videos help other people out. Ps I’m sure I’ve seen your videos in the Adventra Facebook group. Great content mate!

Parabens pelo video que capricho ...sou do brasil e vi q vc usa uma tampa de radiador diferente da original ela e boa? Peguei o codigo dela e estou querendo importar ...aqui no meu pais nao acjo tampa do radiador ...
@EMP_castlebravo Жыл бұрын

What did you tork the manifold bolts down too? I need to pull my manifold off to install some manifold insulators.
@EMP_castlebravo Жыл бұрын
Off the top of my head it was 40nm. But I can check my book a little later for the correct specs.
@EMP_castlebravo Жыл бұрын
Inlet manifold bolts are 23Nm according to the Gregory’s commodore service manual

Hey, where did you get the seals, gaskets..etc all from? Also what ignition coils did you use?
@EMP_castlebravo10 ай бұрын
Gasket kits were purchased from SCA. Coils were MACE brand and came as a set.

How has it held up after all these years? Should do a review. Would be meaningful especially after a few years.

Might be something to do after all this time. If my video schedule is anything to go by, come back in 2037 and I should have a review live

Engine looks very clean mate. What oil are you using?
@EMP_castlebravo3 жыл бұрын
I usually use Penrite oil and also use an engine flush before I do oil changes. With that said, this engine is super clean because my mum attacked the rocker covers with some brake clean and an old toothbrush while I was at work. You should check Pt 1 to see what they were like originally.

Are thos even spark plug seals facing the right way ?
@EMP_castlebravo3 жыл бұрын
That’s the way I took them out. I have no reason to believe that the engine had ever been opened up before/ tube seals changed since factory. I put them back the same way I took them out and then gave them a light greasing with fresh engine oil.
@Gregdsilva9153 жыл бұрын
@@EMP_castlebravo they are oil seals so it should be the other way up, but hey I’m an old prick so maybe not
@EMP_castlebravo3 жыл бұрын
@@Gregdsilva915 Best guess is it’s a common part that’s been inverted since they usually require a special tool to install without tearing on the spark plug tubes. Could be possible that since they’re not immersed in oil like a diff seal the benefit of not being damaged during installation outweighs the detriment of having a slightly worse seal? It’s a question someone working at Holden 15 odd years ago might know the answer to.
@Gregdsilva9153 жыл бұрын
@@EMP_castlebravo well that side of the seal is usually not the pressure side But maybe seal design has changed
