I use to use a 25cc Craftsman hand held and it worked well. But I've always wanted a bigger blower so I pulled the trigger and got a 63cc one. It was by far the best decision I made. Great video. Glad to see another Shindaiwa getting a second lease on life. I've owned my Shindaiwa C350 Brushcutter since ~2000, and it's still running strong. Did some minor carb maintenance about 10 years ago, but that's pretty much been the only work needed to keep this device going. In hindsight, it was costly at the time, but a great investment for sure. These days, the ONLY issue I have is finding brushcutter heads that are compatible with this rig's unusual bolt configuration.

Always nice when its a simple fix. Question for you. The old flat head briggs engine. Is there a way to tell if the camshaft is ok without taking the engine apart or more so taking the crankcase apart. I have one that is not wanting to fire and it's got all the basics like spark, fuel and good compression at 125. It only seemed to pop off once even when using a drill to spin it over and using starting fluid and then sounded harsh like almost a backfire. Carb was cleaned out before and serviced but then if it was the carb it should still start when spraying the starring fluid down the carb. When I had the head off I spun it to see if the valves where opening up and sealing and also the flywheel magnets passed the coil as the piston was coming back up on the compression stroke so to me that should be meaning the camshaft is not broken or out of sync. But I guess I am wrong.
@lewiemcneely91432 жыл бұрын
Pull the head and see how the valves are working. The pop/spit sounds like a leaking or stuck valve. I just pour some oil down the stem of a sticking valve and use a soft faced hammer to tap it back down so it seats fully again and also check the flywheel key but it sounds like a valve to me OR maybe a head gasket. They'll piffle and sput if the gasket has blown out.
@HomeGaragechannel2 жыл бұрын
as far as I know, there's no way to inspect the camshaft, without taking I out. did you check the flywheel key?

I've got a question regarding warm up. I have a Stihl blower, it's a step down from commercial grade. Decent machine! When I first start it and turn it to half choke, it seems to throttle the engine up as much as it can on half choke. When I switch it to no choke the engine idles as normal. So my question is this: should I leave the engine at half choke and let the machine run throttled up, or take the choke off and let it idle for a minute or two?
@olfreal2 жыл бұрын
Turn choke off, and let it idle for 1 or 2 minutes, and support the warm up with some short half throttle running.
