Thanks for watching. This leaf blower was a free gift from a friend and now I know why. It doesn't work so we have to diagnose the problem and fix it. The bigger question though is how much money can I save if I try and fix it myself and is it worth it?

Of course I would pick it up, I would try to get it running pretty much exactly how you did it. Its not very expensive to get going. Anything more than that however I'd probably use it for parts. Once you get into replacing the coil or worn piston ring I don't think this brand would be worth the time and money. Just my opinion. Another helpful vid, thank you!

Good video. Frankly, I'm not sure I would consider that a repair as much as maintenance. You know going in equipment requires maintenance: filters, fuel lines, pull cords, etc. So yes, when I see power equipment discarded, I'm happy to give it a new home for someone who appreciates it; as do you.

I had an issue with mine that was not carburetor related. It was a loose bolt hold the top of the enclosure with spark plug to the piston. You can see the bolt hole in the vent(can cut the plastic and tighten if you want to try) another hint its the issue is more of an oily residue on the lower part. I first replaced the carburetor with issues still then I decided to take it completely apart. Saw the gap and the loose bolt tighten it up She started up and kept on running.

We used the featherlite trimmers for years. Had 2 and both were freebies that I put kits in the carbs and just ran one at a time then swapped when something happened to the running one. I had my Echo and Sweetie used the lite ones. Free is a really good price and about all their running was with ethanol gas BUT Stihl mix oil, usually silver bottle. Blessings

@@INSIDEHOUSEGARAGE funny thing is I found an exact one missing a gas cap and the pull string handle. I'm planning on tearing it down this weekend. I'm hoping walbro has a metal spiral metering diaphragm for it. Those are actually great innovations💡 They have increased longevity versus traditional diaphragms that are destroyed by fuel in a short time. Check it out youtube " walbro spiral metering diaphragm "

did you happen to leave the fuel in the tank over the winter and does the fuel have ethanol in it? If so then your metering diaphragm might be damaged and letting you run at full throttle for more than 5 to 8 minutes. Other than that it could be your fuel cap isn't venting properly.

important tip: you notice how its smoking alot out of the housing when the blowers off after it was at its high speed? very very important with these weed eater blowers the carb adjustment needs to be in the "slight rich settings" for the piston and cylinder to stay cool if its not adjusted that way the blower will just burn up very bad then locks up while running on high speed

As much as I like the Featherlite trimmers, I don’t care for the blowers. Even though they claim 150 mph, they feel low on air pressure to me and I don’t like using them. Other than the fun of trying to get it running again, I would otherwise leave one of these on the curb or plan to “rehome” it to someone else in need for a very basic blower after it is up and running.
