I've used a zippo for better then 30 years. I never use zippo flints. I keep old bic lighters and take the flint out of them. They last much longer

Same here. I’ve spent an hour trying to figure out what it is and I think the spring in mine is too look or strong. It puts so much pressure on flint and wheel that it won’t budge. Even if I put in a half used flint. So I’m done with this stuff and moving all my zippos to electric. This design could be changed and improved but they refuse to do so and move along with the times. So… Fixed my issue with a spark zippo insert. The one by zippo is ok, but spark has an angle built into it that I find more useful. No more refills, no more flints and frustration. 👍

Yeah, I just used a pocket knife. I flicked it out with the knife, never happened again.

Zippos are great for smokers but the fuel seems to evaporate quickly. I only need one to light my torch or start a fire Occasionally and mine is always dry . I wish someone would offer the old Scripto Vu- lighter again.

@@arbernani4727 hmmm I dont recall that specific video of me saying they wont replace it, I did probably say it the weak point because it is anyone who uses a zippo for a while will know it gets loose and breaks with time BUT they have always replaced them or fixed them no problem :)

I've had more issues with really old flints swelling and corroding into a solid mass. I just have to pick at them with a needle

yes also very common they can be scraped out at that point with a paperclip through the flint hole but its a chore...unless your really careful with a small drill bit :)

My problem was I put another cheap lighters flint in my zippo and the flint was too thick and got wedged at the end where the wheel couldn’t strike so I got a small knife wedged it between the flint and wheel striker and pushed down and then got a hammer and banged around the lighter till it fell out it was really stuck in there so note to the rest of y’all use standard zippo flints

I remember not beeing able to spin the wheel and spent hrs till i found out that the spark stone whatever was tillt and blocked the wheel just used scissors to grab and turn it

My flint was stuck in the tube like you said it would be, weird because I had ran a metal rod through it a couple times to try to clear it and nothing seemed to be in there. *magic sounds*

The tube on my zippo is to high i think and it is making the striker not move or the striker is to low

The jammed piece was stuck out towards the front. If it had jammed from normal use it would have jammed on the side toward the wick. My guess is that it was spun backwards jamming the piece of flint out the front. Perhaps a trick gone wrong?

That’s a rather good camera, check to see if if has a macro feature for close ups. It would be a lot nicer than having to fiddle with a jewelers loop.

@@cutlerylover I will admit it happens less often on that side of the wheel .. of course sometimes the almost spent flint jams tward the inside and I and others i know will spin the wheel backward then forward again to get one more light out of it . Sometimes the reverse spin results in what you found.
